How Quickly She Disappears | 
It took a couple phone calls and fortuitous timing, but we were able to visit Northern Nights Book Company on our last day in Talkeetna. The owner hadn't opened earlier this season because the weather has been quite rainy and the trailer can get humid. Bought a couple titles from Alaskan authors based on her recommendations!
pickElizabeth is living in a tiny, isolated Alaska community in 1941 when a stranger with unclear intentions arrives. A cat and mouse game then slowly unwinds in this historical psychological mystery. The gradual story development fits the setting. I liked but didn‘t love this one.

Most of the action in this book takes place in Alaska, but there are flashback chapters in Lititz, where the main character grew up.

so-soHmmm, as far as a mystery goes, I had no idea how this would wind up so that‘s a good thing. The period-piece part of this though - I just didn‘t get. Additionally, much of the dialogue and MC mindset seemed like a contemporary setting. I‘m curious what y‘all have to say as you read this one. This is a so-so leaning toward a pick, and maybe I‘ll edit since the mystery did part work for me.

pickI wasn‘t sure if I should read this one at first, but I am glad I did! Great details, but not fluffy! A great Alaskan-based thriller! Debut author!

In Lodi, it feels like the longest month of the year. Life returns to normal after the holidays, the festive lights are gone, & it's usually cloudy. Thick tule fog from the San Joaquin Delta envelopes the area. So I spend 2 weeks on Maui! 🌴🌊

HOW QUICKLY SHE DISAPPEARS was very well written with words that pulled you in and that had a gripping, mesmerizing, menacing tone.

I‘m so behind on Litsy & life so here is a #tripledip post. It‘s #TrueBlue is my favorite color & the cover & background represent💙well. This is Nigella‘s Thai Noodle Soup with Shrimp & it‘s delicious & would be perfect for the book‘s #Frozen Alaska setting. I‘m trying to restart this one & its tagline is “The Dry meets The Silence of the Lambs” so I guess it‘s on the #Borderline of literary suspense & psychological thriller.
My favorite librarian brought this one in for me from her #ARCs & said it was really good. 🤗I‘ve just read a few pages but it seems intriguing & I love the rural Alaska setting. ❄️ With tonight‘s poke bowl dinner. It was a loooong... Monday.

Elisabeth agrees to play a very dangerous game, with a very dangerous man in exchange for clues
First of all, any creepy book set in Alaska just makes it creepier. In a good way. I did not read any blurb about this book, so I wasn't sure if it was a horror, suspense or thriller, which made it even better for me.
I really enjoyed this book and found it to be a slow burning mystery. The grief that Elizabeth feels from missing her twin is palpable. An impressive debut!
“The Dry meets The Silence of The Lambs” has my full attention!
