The Girl Who Lived Twice
The Girl Who Lived Twice: A Lisbeth Salander novel, continuing Stieg Larsson's Millennium Series | David Lagercrantz
52 posts | 50 read | 22 to read
The sixth DRAGON TATTOO story--more than 90 million copies sold worldwide--the crime-fiction phenomenon featuring Lisbeth Salander. Book four in the series, The Girl in the Spider's Web, is now a major film from Sony Pictures starring Claire Foy--out in November 2018. "Rest easy, Lisbeth Salander fans--our punk hacker heroine is in good hands." --Patrick Ryan, USA Today "Salander and Blomkvist are just as compelling as ever." --Michiko Kakutani, The New York Times "Not only do the matter-of-fact style and intricate plotting and sexy, chilling atmosphere feel very true to the original novels, but Lagercrantz transcends the source material." --Benjamin Percy, Esquire "Elegantly paced, slickly executed, and properly thrilling." --Alison Flood, The Observer

Much better than the last two books written by David Lagercrantz. It more closely resembles the writing of the original author of the Millenium series, and it ties up some loose ends.
The only thing that I disliked was the character development (or lack thereof) of Mikael Blomkvist.

The 6th installment of the Millennium series. There was too much going on in this one. It all started getting muddled and the connections were a huge stretch. I didn‘t like how Salander was written in this one either she wasn‘t her usual super badass.

3.25 stars- this one was okay, it felt like they tried to put too much into too short of a book. It felt rushed. I also don't know if there's a spin-off series only in Swedish, but the ending just seemed to not really be a full ending to a series.

#ConflictedWorlds Day 30: #PersonVsAnger - because Lisbeth Salander is a very angry human being. 💕 Paired with cheerful strawberry sorbet for contrast.

I did not yet find out if this is the last or if there‘s one more to come. I sometimes felt a tiny bit lost because I don‘t know volume 5.

I was absolutely hooked by the Mount-Everest-plot, I shivered every time they were there, but the other plot line fell short for me in the end. In my eyes it didn‘t really fit the Lisbeth and it also didn‘t feel like personal development. But maybe that‘s because I miss a book. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

#FabulousFebruary

Buechersuechtling (Continued, 1/1) Definitely not the best book in the series if you ask me. But it‘s solid and interesting. And so you stay with all the well-known personnel because you want to know what happens. 🔚 4y

So glad that when I need to drop the left book (🇩🇪„Der Liebe eine Stimme geben“) / 🇬🇧 ”Love Anthony”) because I‘m hooked but tired 🥱, there‘s always my current audiobook on the right that I in bed can turn to. 😊

By the way, happy Valentine‘s Day to all who celebrate or enjoy the day – either with some else or all by yourself.

Give yourself a treat. Be kind, loving, supportive and indulgent to yourself so that you feel good today. 🤗💜

I did a quick research for me.
? (I‘m such a weirdo.)

That I read that 4th instalment, called „Verschwörung“ in German ??, is 4 years ago, says Litsy.

Did you notice❓ It‘s week-eeeeeend‼️?? That alone makes me happy. It‘s sunny here ☀️, but so cold ?: -7 °C / 19,4 °F.

Apart from that, I was very disappointed when I started the tagged audiobook on Thursday evening because it‘s the 6th instalment of Lisbeth and Mikael but my online library doesn‘t have the 5th one. Something I will never-ever understand. How can you do that❓? Skip a volume in a series❓? ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Buechersuechtling (continued, 1/4) That was, why I was very sceptical towards lending it because I feared of having missed too much plot even though I know all the relevant events are always shortly resumed for the reader during the new storyline in a way that you don‘t really realise it. That was, why I finally decided to give it a go. And I _love_ it‼️ I love the story and am always shivering 🥶 when the plot returns to Mount Everest. ⛰ 4y
Buechersuechtling (2/4) But still, there is this other plot line, that I am constantly wondering where it comes from. Does it mainly take place in volume 5 or is it already alluded to in volume 4, which was the last one I read❓🤔 I will put details in a spoiler-comment below and ask those who peek and know to kindly answer me. 4y
Buechersuechtling (3/4) That plot around her sister Camilla … 🤔 When does she first show up❓ I feel like until the beginning of this 5th instalment, I didn‘t even know Lisbeth has a sister. 😯 When the heck is she being introduced❓ 4y
Buechersuechtling (4/4) 🤦🏽‍♀️ Well, uhm, sorry for the kerfuffle. I was just curious, I researched myself, obviously the solution is in instalment 4. Shows, how long ago it is that I read this book because I obviously completely forgot. 🤦🏽‍♀️🤯 🔚 4y

Buechersuechtling @thewallflower0707 🤣 Wonderful reply. 👏🏼 Each year, I‘m weird, you know. 364 days of the year I run around telling, to I don‘t need Karneval but when it‘s Weiberfastnacht and and I hear the first songs I‘m almost always there for the really big “TV shows”. And then, on Aschermittwoch, I am most of the time sad that from now on there is no more room for some craziness. (edited) 4y
thewallflower0707 Last year around this time, I went on a short city trip to Heidelberg and I witnessed Karneval up close for the first time. Needless to say, I‘m still having nightmares, but I‘m glad you‘re enjoying it 🤗 4y

I made my last read of 2020.
I found this book interesting about Sherbas, and of the dead bodies on Mount Everest. I looked this up and with the climate change the bodies that have been left up there are now being unburied. Each of the bodies have been frozen in time and are in immaculate condition. Very very interesting

Although, I miss Stieg Larsson, I'm glad the adventures Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist continue.

I'm curious to see if there will be another book s the ending keeps things open ended with loose ends getting tied up.

Like all the books in Lagercrantz's #Millennium series, this one wasn't particularly successful! The denouement of the story is guessed from the very beginning, and the plot isn't exciting at all!☹️ It's only worth reading if you (like me) strongly love the original trilogy of #StiegLarsson. 🐉💻🐝

I really enjoyed the first book in this series. However, the rest of the series has been pretty meh. I‘m not sure why I kept up with it. However, Simon Vance is an incredible narrator, so if you‘re going to read the series, I recommend listening to it.

The end. I didn't know this was the last book in this series until I finished it and googled.🙁 While it will be hard to let Lisbeth Salander go, it was a satisfying end to her story. (No spoilers) I have loved all six of these books.

So, I really liked the first book. Then I read the second and was like “Meh“ - and that was it. Now I've read the new series and it was “meh“ again.

While I was interested in the crime story line, I started to dislike Lisbeth even more #unpopularopinion And this on and off between her and Mikael - nope. Just annoying to me.

Another series I can defenitely bail.

Another twisty entry into the Millennium series. Lisbeth is not as prominent in this one and Blomqvist has a fling that seemed a bit silly (a way to get a certain character involved, really), but I did enjoy the storyline. Not as good as the previous books but I remain hopeful that the series will stay on track.

I know a lot of people don‘t think the new books are as good as the original millennium trilogy and maybe that‘s true but I love the series so much I never mind. The characters feel like somewhere I come home to which is why I chose to read it when I was ill and I wasn‘t disappointed, exciting and escapist and exactly what I wanted from the series.

There's nothing better than having something to munch whilst invested in Lisbeth Salander.😊😌😊

Butterfinger Are these just as good as Larson's. I'm hesitant about reading them. 5y
Prettytears @Butterfinger Larsson's trilogy is untouchable, however the first book post the trilogy, The Girl in the Spider's web, was good. The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye, I didn't enjoy at all. But so far, reading The Girl Who Lived Twice, I'll say the series has redeemed itself. 😅 5y

The Dragon Tattoo trilogy remain an utter joy. The strength of the Salander character would, you might think, be enough to fuel a dozen subsequent books.

But no. The previous two Lagercrantz novels in the series were grindingly disappointing and I waited for this latest with hesitation. Could it fall short again?

Oh my days, it really could. Woeful is too high praise for these meandering pages searching in vain of a plot. Stop doing this David.

Ms_T Oh dear, I really liked it 😧 5y

I was so excited to read this! I will say at times the writing, or perhaps the translations felt clumsy. The story was well developed and felt relevant to recent events, however, the ending seemed a bit abrupt and forced. All that aside, it's still a good read and I did enjoy it a lot. 👍 Hoping this is not the last of the series, as has been rumored. #millenniumseries #mostanticipated #worththewait

I love the millennium trilogy and have enjoyed the sequels. The sequels aren‘t as memorable, and this one doesn‘t have a lot of interactions with the usual side characters. 3.5/5 ⭐️

• Found out today there will be another book in Stieg Larsson's "Millennium" series, coming in August! I love Lisbeth and Mikael. I'm re-reading the second book now on audio but I'm ready to dive into the books by David Lagercrantz. I'm two books behind! I want to see if Lagercrantz can keep up with Larsson because I enjoy the original author's writing. If you're a fan, what did you think about the last 2 books? •
