Templar Legacy
Templar Legacy | Steve Berry
The ancient order of the Knights Templar possessed untold wealth and absolute power over kings and popes . . . until the Inquisition, when they were wiped from the face of the earth, their hidden riches lost. But now two forces vying for the treasure have learned that it is not at all what they thought it was and its true nature could change the modern world. Cotton Malone, one-time top operative for the U.S. Justice Department, is enjoying his quiet new life as an antiquarian book dealer in Copenhagen when an unexpected call to action reawakens his hair-trigger instincts and plunges him back into the cloak-and-dagger world he thought he d left behind. It begins with a violent robbery attempt on Cotton s former supervisor, Stephanie Nelle, who s far from home on a mission that has nothing to do with national security. Armed with vital clues to a series of centuries-old puzzles scattered across Europe, she means to crack a mystery that has tantalized scholars and fortune-hunters through the ages by finding the legendary cache of wealth and forbidden knowledge thought to have been lost forever when the order of the Knights Templar was exterminated in the fourteenth century. But she s not alone. Competing for the historic prize and desperate for the crucial information Stephanie possesses is Raymond de Roquefort, a shadowy zealot with an army of assassins at his command. Welcome or not, Cotton seeks to even the odds in the perilous race. But the more he learns about the ancient conspiracy surrounding the Knights Templar, the more he realizes that even more than lives are at stake. At the end of a lethal game of conquest, rife with intrigue, treachery, and craven lust for power, lies a shattering discovery that could rock the civilized world and, in the wrong hands, bring it to its knees. Definitely the best Templar novel I've ever read! This was a strong start to the Cotton Malone series, and certainly one of Steve Berry's best works. I thought that nothing could beat The Romanov Prophecy for me, but here we are. Fast-paced, and almost impossible to put down, I really enjoyed this one.

You rock, Steve Berry.

Mehso-so

I think it‘s me not you! I liked the premise and the MC, but huge bits just dragged. I think grumpy (me) and stress (life!) week didn‘t help.
I may try more though so it can‘t have been that bad.

MsMelissa Honestly, this series is entertaining, but I stopped reading it because all the books started to feel the same and the writing isn‘t anything special. 4y
GingerAntics Looking more into the book and the series, it almost seems like he wanted to be the next Dan Brown. 4y
TrishB @Book_Fiend_Melissa I wouldn‘t say no to another one, I‘m just not rushing to it! 4y
TrishB @GingerAntics there is that vibe. 4y
Cathythoughts Oh dear ! I hope the next one is better 👍🏻 4y

Day 2: #20series20days #top20series

Can‘t leave my book boyfriend off the list of favorite series. I adore Cotton and his exploits. Poor guy just wants to run a bookstore in Copenhagen, but the world won‘t let him...

Andrew65 I love Cotton Malone! 💖💖💖 4y

Mollyanna @TrishB They are so fun. Quite a ride. Hope you enjoy. 4y
Andrew65 @Mollyanna @TrishB I love the mixture of history and adventure. Just feel in the latter books he got a bit stuck on American history and would have liked him to take in more world history. 4y

My favorite author, James Rollins, recommended Steve Berry so I had to stop at HPB on the way home and found book 1 in the Cotton Malone series. Whoohoo! I started an ebook sample last night and it‘s so good.

FlowerFairy This is a very good series. Happy reading! (And James Rollins is amazing!) 5y

#adventrecommends Day 3: I actually read the seventh book in this series first. I picked it up at the library book sale and couldn‘t put it down. After reading it, I realized there was a whole series to read and have been reading through the series as quickly as I can get my hands in the books.

Andrew65 I love this series and loved this book from the moment I picked it up. Finished the first 10 so far. However I do think my overall favourite so far is 6y

Very good in the genre of historical fiction. Very similar to dan brown type novel. Short chapters that move quickly. High paced action with a good set of characters. Based around religious subject matter with a good twist. If you like dan brown type novels and jonesing for a new series then you‘ve found it.

Marine, Jeff D.: "‘Templar Legacy‘ was the best of the lot. With the essence of a Dan Brown novel, this adventure kept you guessing from start to finish & always one step ahead of the reader. It follows retired American Operative Cotton Malone on an unexpected quest to uncover the Templar secret while fighting the men who swore to protect it, as well as those who are looking to expose it. It was a 'can‘t put it down' type of read." #BestBookRead
