Another good Lovelace. Her struggle with her mother‘s death and the complicated relationship that the 2 had while Lovelace was growing up. Shows how tricky and complex grief is.
4⭐️ short poetry with depth and feeling.

“I only wanted to keep you safe,” you screamed
“Then why didn‘t you?” I cried
This was okay. Better than the others I guess. I feel like it's hard for her to stick to a theme and she kinda starts repeating stuff from her other books.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I found Lovelace‘s second part of the “things that h(a)unt” duology much stronger than her previous “to make monsters out of girls”. This collection of poetry promptly ripped my heart out and made me reflect on past experiences while simultaneously being uplifting. Again, there were still a chunk of poems that I couldn‘t relate to, but overall this collection was well done.
“What you told me after you saw the thin lines on my wrist - depression doesn't exist.“
“If I didn't lose weight, you said I was disgusting - there was never any winning with you.“
“I'm afraid I'll be just like you. I'm afraid I'll be nothing like you. - my empress in reverse.“
“Tell me you love me even if you have to cross your fingers behind your back while you do it - I don't mind being lied to, baby“
I was walking around Target and found this book. I didn‘t buy it. But I did flip it open and this is the poem this book selected for me. It reminded me of childhood, parts taken away because choices a parent makes take control over your life and sometimes not for the better. And so I may have loved the cover and the author but this poem was so heavy and that is not a weight I choose to carry... in my hand or on my bookshelf.
I loved how honest her words were. As I read each poem, I felt like a ghost in her mind. I was pulled into emotions I was overwhelmed with. Definitely recommend this.
I‘ve liked other Lovelace books better, but I did still like this one. She is, as always, working through her feelings about a difficult relationship— this time with her mother. I really liked the art.
Stunning, beautiful, wonderful, sad poems. I love her work and will continue to read her books and save the poems for myself to remind me of who I am and where I came from. Words cannot describe what I feel when I read her poems.

Absolutely loved the newest addition to Amanda Lovelace's poetry collection!
I am loving the newest release by Amanda Lovelace. This entry is my favorite by far! 😍 #poetrymatters
As everything Amanda Lovelace writes is amazing, so is this! It‘s one I can connect with but not on the level of Princess which is my favorite poetry book! Her writing is good and self care is recommended. Her story with her mother is heartbreaking and often a major part of her poetry, this one is no different discussing grief, letting go and, forgiveness. It‘s also heartwarming in the same book opening up both sides of the story.
Totally forgot I preordered this beauty. #covercrush #7days7covers Day 1! @Emilymdxn

To drink coffee with a ghost is probably my favorite Amanda Lovelace collection (it‘ll probably change after her next release though 😂) it‘s about finding and making peace with those you lost before you were able to actually make peace with them and remember the good times and keep on moving on. It‘s gorgeous.

Couldn‘t connect to this one as much as some of her earlier work but it‘s still a powerful collection.
