Crown of Wishes | Roshani Chokshi
Gauri, the princess of Bharata, has been taken as a prisoner of war by her kingdom s enemies. Faced with a future of exile and scorn, Gauri has nothing left to lose. Hope unexpectedly comes in the form of Vikram, the cunning prince of a neighboring land and her sworn enemy kingdom. Unsatisfied with becoming a mere puppet king, Vikram offers Gauri a chance to win back her kingdom in exchange for her battle prowess. Together, they ll have to set aside their differences and team up to win the Tournament of Wishes a competition held in a mythical city where the Lord of Wealth promises a wish to the victor.Reaching the tournament is just the beginning. Once they arrive, danger takes on new shapes: poisonous courtesans and mischievous story birds, a feast of fears and twisted fairy revels.Every which way they turn new trials will test their wit and strength. But what Gauri and Vikram will soon discover is that there s nothing more dangerous than what they most desire."

I was don't disappointed by the continuation of Gauri and Vikram's story. Gauri is a phenomenal character. At times she drives me crazy and others I just want to weep for her. She is so complex and her journey is an incredible story.

I don‘t think Chokshi‘s writing could ever get old. This book tells the story of a magical competition where the winner gets a wish. It differs from the first book in the companion set in that it‘s told from 3 different perspectives, but I think that added to the story, especially when the third narrator joined. It is beautifully written, intriguing, fun, & adds a new layer to my growing knowledge of Indian myth.

I accidentally returned this to the library before I took a photo... I really enjoyed this book! I loved the sisterhood and love between the poisonous courtesans and how Gauri and Vikram‘s relationship developed.

Roshani's writing lends itself so well to fantasies and retellings. It's just so beautiful and whimsical. The writing, tone and style are quite reminiscent of A Star-touched Queen so even though it was a companion novel, it still kinda felt like a sequel. The ending was so sweet and reminded me so much of those endings to cheesy romcoms!

Finally getting to the companion to Star-touched Queen!

DebReads4fun Gorgeous cover! 6y
Schnoebs Heavily debating if I want to pick this one up or not. I really enjoyed the first one and got to read the first 2 chapters of this one from the sneak peek but I‘m still on the fence. Can‘t wait for your review! 6y

This is the companion novel to The Star Touched Queen which I had surprisingly enjoyed despite it being a YA fantasy. And this book is even better!
Memorable characters, top notch humor, a magical and whimsical world. The only thing I had an issue with was the ending, which dragged a bit too long for my liking. But other than that I enjoyed every freaking thing about this book.

4/5 🌟

“The color of my eyes,” said Vikram quickly.

“Yes,” said Gauri woodenly. “They are so very … brown.”

Chokshi‘s writing is as beautiful as her book covers. This is the companion to The Star-Touched Queen. The focus is on Maya‘s sister, Gauri and the Fox Prince, Vikram. Gauri and Vikram are partners in a magical tournament where the victors each get one wish. I absolutely loved this book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

✨I finally bought both of these books (that same book outlet sale I bought 14 books during lol) by #roshanichokshi ! I read #thestartouchedqueen before and I loved it, but I may need to re-read it before getting into #acrownofwishes ! If you‘ve read these what did you think? 😀😀✨

ghosthost I read and enjoyed both. I remember STQ better though because I loved Kamala. 7y
AngelErin @ghosthost I need to reread it before I read the second! I hope I like it as much as the first. 😀😀 7y

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I fell in love with Gauri‘s character in The STQ so I adored her story! In The STQ I didn‘t really know the characters well enough to care about them, but Gauri and Vikram captured my heart from the get go, as well as Asha! Her character was strong and curious and she made me laugh it loud. The language was just as flowery as the first book, but I felt Crown of Wishes to be more profound in its poetic observations.

First stop on vacation was a day in Portland, Maine and of course I stopped by a book store 😉. It's super cute, but I was good and only picked up one book. I enjoyed The Star Touched Queen enough but I'm really interested in this story that follows the main character's sister!
