I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join in if you want!

Early on I thought this was sure to be a bail - I'm too old to feel any sympathy for a character whose self esteem rises and falls with likes and comments on her social media posts while ignoring long term friends and family. But as her real life issues that resulted in this behaviour gradually emerged my sympathy grew until I was truly moved by her situation and cheering her on as she came to terms with it all. #Bookspin

Okay, easy read but promoted lots of stereotypes of women which is frustrating to read

I guarantee that like 75% of readers will HATE this. For the first 30 or so pages, I certainly did. Jenny is a vapid, shallow, narcissistic mess and I wanted to push her in front of a bus. She is obsessed with social media and all manner of silly bullshit and she treats everyone in her life horribly. But I soldiered on - the riotous humor helped A LOT - and while I didn‘t love Jenny in the end, I did wish the best for her. For my mood, 👍🏼.

Reggie Lololol. Totally feel this review. 4y
LeahBergen I quite often love a book where I hate the vapid main character - as long as it‘s funny! 4y

Yesterday‘s op shop haul. I got way more that I bargained for. This shop paid for itself. See post to come... all #Justbecause of my #LitsyLove stationery obsession & a bit of Xmas prep. I‘ve scored a few cool jumpers over this past winter. Loaded up for a warm 1 next yr. This 1 had no tag so I‘m assuming it is hand made. The sea World shirt is for my step daughter as is the DVD, The Rabbit Proof Fence which I recommend for non Aussies especially.

JeffyRoo Love the quilted bag and the seaworld shirt!! 4y

Things are getting serious - a few hardbacks from my TBR pile have migrated from my house to my partner‘s.

ValPenny That tells us all we need to know! 😉 4y

Mehso-so

Between a pick and a so-so for me. It was very funny and touched lightly on some serious issues. However, I found that the sarcasm got annoying after a while and that it all felt a bit forced.

Megabooks I wish I could rock bangs like that! 4y
JennyM @Megabooks me too, Meg! 4y
TrishB I have this ready on my tbr, not drawn to it yet though! 4y

squirrelbrain I really liked this one. I found the opposite to you - started off annoying and then I grew to like her. 4y
JennyM @squirrelbrain she drove me nuts, Helen! I‘m curious as to what you‘d think @Trishb - it‘s very British/Northern funny 4y
squirrelbrain I listened to it on audio @JennyM and the Northern narrator was fab. I used this book for #wineorwhine on #booked2020, so yes she annoyed me too! 4y
JennyM @squirrelbrain it‘s perfect for that prompt! 😘 4y

Bailedbailed

So this was recommended by a work colleague....She gave it glowing review - I hate it. Reading about a chick obsessed with living her life by trying to get the best instagram pic, relying on her like numbers to feel happy etc .....not the book for me at all

Today‘s #AugustARC will be released on 8/18. This seems to be called Adults (already released) and Grown Ups (not yet released). Not sure why the difference.

This was a fun listen. It follows the life of Jenny, a thirty-something Northerner living in London, as her life falls apart around her. Jenny is obsessed with social media, and its hashtags, likes and follows.

I don‘t do social media (other than Litsy of course!) so it simultaneously felt rather absurd, but also very realistic.

I also liked the narrator, with a proper Northern accent!

Cinfhen I‘ve seen this available on #Scribd maybe I‘ll try it 😌 4y
squirrelbrain Yes, give it a go Cindy @Cinfhen - she‘s so irritating but rather sweet too! 4y

Whilst we are stuck in the house and some of us finding reading difficult to concentrate on here are six audiobooks we could look at to distract our brain.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/5yqcp9wjXpKgh9rKLydmrpj/six-audiobooks...

Have you read any of them?

What audiobooks would you recommend to other Littens?

Cinfhen Thanks for sharing!!! I‘ve been listening to lots of audiobooks the last few that I enjoyed as mindless escapes were 5y
Cinfhen And for good NF I just listened to this one about the opioid crisis 5y
