Extremely successful executive, Lou Suffern is always overstretched, immune to the holiday spirit that delights everyone around him. The classic workaholic who never has a moment to spare, he is always multitasking while shortchanging his devoted wife and their adorable children. And ever since he started competing for a big promotion, he has barely seen his family at all. One frigid morning in an uncharacteristic burst of generosity, he buys a cup of coffee for Gabe, a homeless man huddled outside his office building. Inspired by his own unexpected act of kindness, Lou decides to prolong his charitable streak and contrives to get Gabe a job in his company's mailroom. But when Gabe begins to meddle in Lou's life, the helping hand appears to be a serious mistake. Gabe seems to know more about Lou than Lou does about himself, and, perhaps more disturbingly, Gabe always seems to be in two places at once. With Lou's personal and professional fates at important crossroads and Christmas looming, Gabe resorts to some unorthodox methods to show his stubborn patron what truly matters and how precious the gift of time is. But can he help him fix what's broken before it's too late?

I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it (some I‘ve had so long I don‘t even remember why!). Feel free to join in!

Took a while getting into this book but was then hooked. A fun and interesting story involving a man who needed to change his ways and a ‘homeless man‘ he was kind to helped bring this about. Didn‘t see the ending coming until right towards the end. 😢 Not the ending I expected through the book. The final chapter saved the book. ❤️

30th book finished for #WinterReadathon

"Time cannot be packaged and ribboned and left under trees for Christmas morning. Time can't be given but it can be shared."

I started and finished this today. I read this as a teenager and thought I'd pick it up again this year.

This was our book club book this month and I just couldn‘t get into it. I don‘t even know exactly what I read. It was a bit slow and didn‘t stand out from other holiday books that I‘ve read. It‘s a Scrooge story, but not very unique.

“Time can't be given. But it can be shared.”

This story is about Lou, who is self-centered and a 24/7 busy man and always needs to be at 2 places at the same time. He is not happy with his life and always wants more, but actually he forgets what he already has- family.
This book is about any everyday person living in a modern world where careers are so very important that they forget everything.

Fab little book. Nothing too meaty but a sweet little read where you don‘t have to do much thinking. Lovely twists that I couldn‘t predict (and I‘m normally pretty good at working out the plot of books). Not sure why but I‘ve always thought I didn‘t like Cecilia Ahern, but will definitely give another of her books a whirl.

Urgh!!! All style and no substance. Gorgeous cover and lovely name, I bet this was bought for a lot of people as Christmas presents, but the story itself is not good.

I know I said I like cheesy Christmas books but I wasn‘t expecting this level of Gorgonzola!!! A rich business man who has no time for his family meets a tramp called Gabriel....oh I wonder where this is going?! 😴 plus the writing was syrupy and flowery...it‘s a no from me! ✋🏻 🤢

Sace "... this level of Gorgonzola..."??? 6y

Not quite book related but my favorite #🎁 of Christmas has arrived and it didn't come from #underthetree ! Finally Dunkin Donuts has arrived in my neck of the woods. DD coffee is another thing I've missed so much about living in NY and now I have another little piece of home. My niece enjoys her first DD donut.

AmyG That is truly a Christmas gift. Their coffee is my favorite. 7y

Miss Ahern has this way to make you ugly cry because it's beautiful. This "gift" will make you want to hug your children, your spouse, maybe even your pet. It'll make you grateful for what you have and reconsider what you've neglected.
