The Other Passenger
The Other Passenger | Louise Candlish
FROM THE BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF OUR HOUSE, WINNER OF THE CRIME & THRILLER BOOK OF THE YEAR AWARD The Other Passenger is just brilliant; gripping from the first page Louise Candlish just gets better and better, I love her Lisa Jewell, author of The Family Upstairs Youre feeling pretty smug about your commute to work by riverboat. No more traffic gridlock or getting stuck on the tube in tunnels (youre claustrophobic). Now youve got fresh air, an iconic Thames view, a whole lifestyle upgrade. Youve made new friends on board led by your hedonistic young neighbour, Kit and just had your first official water rats get-together. The day after the drinks, Kit isnt on the morning boat. The river landmarks are all the same, but somethings off. When you disembark, the police are waiting. Kits wife, Melia, has reported him missing and another passenger saw you arguing on the last boat home after your drinks. Police say you had a reason to lash out at him. To threaten him. You protest. You and Kit are friends ask Melia, shell vouch for you. And who exactly is pointing the finger? What do they know about your private lives? No, whatever coincidences might have occurred last night, you are innocent, totally innocent. Arent you? Praise for The Other Passenger: Im a HUGE fan of Louise Candlishs writing but she really knocks it out of the park with this one A must read! Lucy Foley 'A smart, twisty thriller I couldnt put it down!' Shari Lapena 'Psychological suspense at its most elegant and sinister' AJ Finn A stunning masterwork of style and suspense Jeffery Deaver? Praise for Louise Candlish 'Prepare to be gripped; Louise Candlish shows us the dark side of suburbia and of ourselves' Erin Kelly Sharp satire and a plot that builds to a roiling boil with a couple of oh-so-clever final twists in close succession: Louise Candlish is one very clever writer Sarah Vaughan Twists aplenty, and such wonderful observation - I loved it' Clare Mackintosh 'An addictive, twisty page-turner that will give you nightmares about the suburban dream' Alice Feeney 'A delicious slice of suburban noir. I loved it' Harriet Tyce 'Oozing with scandal, it's a compelling read' Woman & Home 'A devilishly good thriller with a wicked ending. Loved it' Laura Kemp 'Utterly gripping' RED 'Louise Candlish captures the mores of middle-class life and our worst, curtain-twitching tendencies like no one else' RED, online 'Full of marvellously toxic characters' Best

Last book of hers I‘ll read… they‘re a little too wordy and don‘t get to the point

A book full of distinctly unlikeable characters. I mainly persevered due to all the references to London transport, which I enjoyed trying to visualise.... The main guy was just horrible and the younger woman was awful. I didn't care what happened to him.Im not sure who the target audience is for this story; I didn't have an 'ah-ha' moment & was desperately hoping for a love story somewhere. Was the author an estate agent and victim of an affair?

I‘m a newcomer to Louise Candlish novels. She‘s an excellent thriller writer all based in middle class London. The other passenger is one of her best. Smart and well written. Keeps you guessing to the end which is all I need. Im back to work tomorrow so I hope I can continue to keep up and play #alphabetgame.

Cathythoughts Sounds like a good one Sinead 👍🏻 2y

This started off slow, but really picked up about half-way through, then again with about a quarter of the book left. The second half pulled me in more, and there were some good twists! I don‘t think any of the characters were particularly likeable, though. The book opens with Kit‘s disappearance, then backs up as Jamie tells his story. That first half (while it‘s still a bit slow), is mostly snippets of each month leading up to Christmas

Wow! So many twists and turns, it got quite intense!
None of the characters are likeable and I think that made interesting reading.
Not sure I'd be inclined to read any of her others but pleased I read this.

Finished this up while supper was in the oven. It was between so-so and pick for me. The last few pages pushed it up over the fence to pick. But I dislike every damn character in this book! 😂🤣 They are all just horrible people. It‘s been a bit since I was rooting for everyone to lose. 😆

Louise Candlish writes the best nasty characters! They‘re truly awful and make this great reading. A light, thrilling page turner! The dog also approves! 😀

Atria [partner] Happy pub day to The Other Passenger! This is a character driven thriller that has quite a few good twists up it‘s sleeves! It did get a little slow at times, but the last third of the book was very fun indeed! A slow burn, but still a good read!

Bakingbookworm @LibraryCin I DNF‘d it and I‘m glad I did. It was an advanced copy too but I contacted my rep at the publisher and she thanked me for my honesty. It was better for everyone if I DNF‘d it 😏 3y

The first half seemed like a basic infidelity storyline.
The second half of the book, revelations come fast and swift, changing what we thought we knew about Kit, Jamie and Melia. Poor Clare, she seems to be an innocent bystander in the whole drama. I was a little shocked, as the information came pouring out. I do enjoy a twist at the end.

I received a free copy from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

I really enjoyed this dark and witty thriller. Two couples strike up a friendship; one couple in their 40s the other are 20s. The generational banter and gripes were so well written and enjoyable. The plot is different and twisty and turny. Who are the bad guys?? Very enjoyable. The perfect palate cleanser. #99ponkindle

This was my #bookspin for March. Giving it a pick here even though I restricted it to 3 stars over on Goodreads. Very well written thriller with great characters but a bit too over the top for me. It didn‘t help that I could see the huge plot twist coming a mile off (which is fine, and I wasn‘t completely right about it) but maybe I‘ve read enough of Louise Candlish‘s books for now!

Thanks to #netgalley for the ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. The plot revolves around a small group of commuters who become friends. What would cause someone to kill a fellow commuter they had become commuting buddies with. spellbinding and twisted plot that will keep you wondering just what has happened and who knows what until the very end. Another great read from Louise Candlish that did not disappoint.Booksleeve from #bookbesties

Another great book by Louise cavendish. Two couples become friends. Jamie and kit share the morning commute together and Melia and Clare work for the same company but how honest is the friendship. There are so many twists and turns in this book just as I thought I had it so it twisted again. Highly recommend this book
