New Brighton
New Brighton: RachelS Story | M. Susan Thuillard
1 post
New Brighton is the continuing story of centuries old intrigue with a modern twist. Who is the mysterious and illusive woman leading the destinies of a people lost in the hidden valleys and forests of the Great Northwest? What impact do witchcraft and cunning play in the lives of these simple people? Can one man bring love and security back to their shattered lives? This is a novel that will answer many questions raised by its prequel and will have the reader cheering on the heroes while being mystified by the eerie circumstances and parallel worlds.

Today we have left Liverpool behind & taken the tunnel across to Birkenhead before taking off the bleachers around Wallasey, something my wife & I will usually do a day visit to at this time of year. 😢 I relish the time when we are able to do a long drive & take in some of our favourite areas.

A bit late tonight with school work, speaking to staff, the clap for the NHS & key workers. How has our Thursday been? Any plans for VE Day celebrations

BookwormM Just looking forward to some me time in the garden with a book this bank holiday. Why is work always busiest just before a long break? 4y
BookwormM Hope you are doing well @Andrew65 4y

Andrew65 @BookwormM I know! Terrifically busy at moment but difficult to find any time away from work, school will be open for key workers as usual tomorrow. Bank holidays seem to mean nothing and then impacted at the weekend as announcing next plans on Sunday. I‘m fine overall but fielding A LOT of anxiety from staff about the talk of opening schools. Far more deaths each day than when we closed! 4y
TheBookHippie Online learning with go through May. August they will start again... 4y
BookwormM Try and find sometime to relax 4y
Moray_Reads A busier day that usual in lockdown WFH but a very productive meeting and some hard work made me feel productive for once. Hoping that Ms Sturgeon sticks to her guns with Scotland's lockdown and worrying about family and friends in England if Boris rushes things. In happier news, I got engaged at the weekend and it's helping to keep me afloat. Hope you're keeping well Andrew, those of you still doing important jobs are absolute heroes ❤️ 4y
Andrew65 @Moray_Reads Congratulations 🍾 🥂 We all need good news at this time. 🥰 Yes very worried about the decisions being made, staff are at breaking point already and that‘s with 20ish children of key workers. Very worried about the future and them holding up. No beak for them either, now considering schools being open over Summer. Never hear anyone in government talking about school staff! 4y
CocoReads Working till 7 tonight (it‘s 5 now) but it‘s been a good day. Back at 6:30 am tomortow and then the weekend off. My daughters‘ birthday is Saturday and Morhers Day is Sunday. Normally we‘d have a big family thing to cover both but not this year.... haven‘t decided what we‘re doing yet. Sunny but chilly today-we have a freeze warning tonight. 4y
Andrew65 @BookwormM I‘m thinking about doing another week long Readathon to give us all something to focus on again. Makes me have to read and take a break! 4y
Birdsong28 Hope it hasn't been too stressful tonight. I've been ok just working through my anxieties and trying to stay positive. 4y
Andrew65 @TheBookHippie In UK looks like they expecting school staff to work through without a break. VERY worried about staff at the moment, they are increasingly creaking, even most level headed! Only so much staff can take. Or heads/principals come to that point 4y
Andrew65 @Birdsong28 Been a very stressful week all round for everybody with all this speculation. Hope you are feeling a bit better. Sending positive thoughts 🥰 4y
Moray_Reads @Andrew65 they're all talk even when they do mention people. There's no real consideration. My niece is 5 and I'm not sure my sister will feel it's safe to send her back to school yet. I hope you've got plenty of support and I'm sure those key workers appreciate every minute of work you put in for them and their children 4y
Andrew65 @CocoReads Been very sunny here the past two days but unfortunately had no time to even step out in it. Need to try harder in this tomorrow. (edited) 4y
Andrew65 @Moray_Reads Unfortunately not all appreciate it, one or two issues recently, but majority do. I would not be sending my child to school. The more they mix, and at 5 they can‘t keep away from each other - they are children. Then it is these youngest they keep talking about returning first. Wonderful if these people have ever spent time in schools! 4y
CocoReads I‘d be down for another readathon. I hope you get some relief Andrew. I‘ve been keeping you and your staff in my thoughts. 4y
Andrew65 @CocoReads And I you, as I admire you fir all you are doing going out there every day and overcoming your anxieties! 🥰🥰🥰❤️ 4y
Andrew65 @CocoReads How about calling it the #NutsofMay Readathon! (edited) 4y
CocoReads @Andrew65 I like it. We are all quite mad here... 4y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick @Andrew65 are you important enough there to insist on a short break before the schools open so staff can just relax? Goodness, I feel for you. @Moray_Reads 🎉Congratulations!🎉 I suppose you & your fiance got along well enough during this lockdown that they wanted to lock you down for life! 4y
Andrew65 @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick This is what I will be looking at once we have more details, but also issue of still looking after the Key Workers and providing learning remotely for the children. 4y
Andrew65 @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick It‘s my staff I worry about more. 4y
kezzlou85 Been a good day today and got some important bits sorted out. All the teachers are doing an amazing job and deserve so much more than they will ever get. You cant help but appreciate them more after 6 weeks of home learning. 4y
TheBookHippie I can‘t believe that we will be all the way open in August. I‘m a little worried for the lack of any structured place for the little ones. 4y
Andrew65 @TheBookHippie Agree about those worries, in fact worried for everyone at the moment, children, parents, staff! 4y
Andrew65 @kezzlou85 That‘s good to hear. It is tough and then we are just criticised and to stop being lazy and get back to work! 😞 4y
TheBookHippie @Andrew65 YES the teachers I worry for so much. Parents all of us. 4y
kezzlou85 @Andrew65 I cannot understand that attitude at all. You all do an amazing job. My eldest is at high school and her head of year emails them regularly with an update and its always funny which appeals to my daughter. Those things matter in these times and its teachers doing it. 4y
Andrew65 @kezzlou85 They do, my staff spend most of the day emailing pupils, replying to pupil emails and phoning families and pupils. 4y
Velvetfur Story about New Brighton: when I was v young Mum entered me into a little beauty contest there (might have been called Miss New Brighton) & I really didn't want to do it so I had a right gob on me the whole day. We had to walk out there by ourselves & stop in front of judge table & do something cute or sweet, but I stomped out there, stopped to glare/pout at the judges, then stomped off again!! So you see, I've always been like this! 😂😂 4y
Velvetfur I can't believe what I'm reading about the school situation Andrew, it sounds like utter madness. Let's cross our fingers that on Sunday we hear that schools won't be going back anytime soon. I don't know what to say....sending all the good thoughts and wishes your way xxx 4y
Andrew65 @Velvetfur Did you win? 😂🤣😂 4y
Velvetfur @Andrew65 Yeah, won the 'gobbiest little cow' award!! 😂😂 4y
Andrew65 @Velvetfur 🤣🤣🤣 4y
Velvetfur @Andrew65 I always say I was a punk baby, because not only was I born in 1976 the year of punk, but I also had a thick mop of hair that stuck upwards - like a mohican! So I suppose the punk attitude at the beauty contest was just me being my natural self 😂😂 4y
DieAReader @Andrew65 I love it! #NutsofMay is the perfect name for a Readathon! I‘m game 🤗📚 4y
gradcat @Andrew65 Just read your post on Liverpool, and I thought I‘d address it here in Brighton (😂). I‘m understanding through various news reports over here that the psychological impact on working people who are forced to stay home is HUGE! I think I can understand your team‘s resolve(s) beginning to crack a bit. Mind, I hope you avoid experiencing this, so (broken record over here) be sure to look after yourself. We need you! (But no pressure...😊). 4y
Andrew65 @SquidgetsRoom Hreat to have you with us. I ended up modifying it to a book title so now calling it #nutsinmay 4y
Andrew65 @gradcat There is this impact bit it‘s mainly about caring for the children of key workers and the frightening prospect at the moment of reopening schools. Thanks for always thinking about me, my wife does a good job of trying to keep me grounded and I‘m quite level headed most of the time. 😂🥰 4y
DieAReader @Andrew65 👌 👌 👌 4y
gradcat @Andrew65 Sounds like you did well in the choice of a partner...I am so glad she‘s with you to make sure you don‘t overdo it! (How parental do I sound right now!!) 😱 4y
Andrew65 @gradcat That‘s not parental , that‘s caring and thank you. 🥰 4y
JaclynW Wow! These views! I wish I had things like this to look at daily! 4y
