The Beast from the East (Goosebumps #43)
The Beast from the East (Goosebumps #43) | R. L. Stine
18 posts | 15 read | 4 to read
Ginger Wald and her identical twin brothers, Nat and Pat, are lost in the woods. No problem. After all, Ginger did go to that stupid nature camp. Still, there's something odd about this part of the woods. The grass is yellow. The bushes are purple. And the trees are like skyscrapers. Then Ginger and her brothers meet the beasts. They're big blue furry creatures. And they want to play a game. But in this game, the winners get to live. The losers get eaten...

New Goosebumps reboot (for the generation that grew up with them)! 😅

AlaMich Not really the sort of cover I associate with Goosebumps...😂 3y
monalyisha @AlaMich No? Not scary enough for you? You‘re a brave soul! 3y
Laughterhp Is this a real book? 3y

I used to read these books when I was younger. They were forever checked out at my school library. I loved how creepy they were and how the story never had a happy ending. This was a perfect red for October the big blue hulking creatures with bugs crawling in and out if there fur and their insatiable hunger for human flesh.

#43 "He's a real animal!"
Wanna play a game? Ginger and her twin brothers are lost in a part of the woods that is very strange. They're on a camping trip and cannot find their parents. But what they do find are beasts! Beasts who can talk. And they want to play a game... a game of survival!

Day 22 of the #GoosebumpsChallenge is special for me because it features my absolute favorite Goosebumps book of the series! (Tagged)

JenlovesJT47 I never read the Goosebumps books but I adored Fear Street. Did you read any of those? That reminds me, I want to read some Fear Street books for Halloween! I‘m lucky my digital library has most of them but I still try to collect them from the used bookstore. 🧡 6y
BeansPage @JenlovesJT47 I never got into Fear Street as a child but as an adult I am reading the relaunch books and I am enjoying them. 6y

Woohoo! The "Beast from the East" has finally arrived! Ok ok, I know it's not much snow at all at the moment... but when the boss gives you a snow day, you take it! I can finally read for longer than 30 minutes ?

Cathythoughts “ the beast from the east “ is meant to go mad later today 😳 6y

The Beast from the East is one of a few surviving Goosebumps books, out of my vast collection. 😛 When moving to a new house, my box of them was misplaced in a bad mouldy cellar, which spoiled them, plus allergies I have against trying to help them... I'll definitely look to find some again, including The Cuckoo Clock of Doom as my top favourite. 🐤🕰 #ThrowbackReadathon @monalyisha @Clwojick That was 15 years ago, with The Beast as a last I read.

Mehso-so

I averaged my childhood rating (PICK!!! [all 3 exclamation points necessary!]) & my present-day rating (pan [lack of enthusiasm enthusiasm denoted by lack of punctuation]) & I‘m giving this a “so-so” rating.

Did I laugh about the fact that one of the monsters was named Spork? You betcha. Am I able to understand why I loved these in the early 90‘s & why kids still do today? Sure. As an adult, would I choose to read another one? Heck no. 🤷‍♀️

Clwojick 😂😂😂😂Heck No! 6y
Clwojick I recently read Welcome to Dead House and I was basically just 😶😑😕 all the way through. I‘m still going to attempt to get in the few I got for this readathon, but‘s not quite so high on my list anymore. FEAR Street was a way better reread for me. 📖 6y
monalyisha @Clwojick It was one of the books I was more skeptical about going in. I sincerely doubted that it was going to hold up. But after my Wayside success I was like, “Hey! Anything‘s possible!” 6y

vkois88 Hahaha gah, I loved those books. I'd fly through them. And oh, the tv show. Now I want to see if it's on Netflix and also watch the movie too 6y

I *may* have acquired some old school snackage. McDonald‘s chicken nuggets: so gross, so good, or both? 😜

#ThrowbackReadathon

MrBook Yesss!!! 😆🙌🏻 6y
Meeko93 👌 6y
CocoReads So gross they‘re good. I‘m leaning towards those for lunch today—working over and don‘t want to take the time to go home for a healthier option. 6y

Clwojick I love the taste, hate the smell! 6y
hes7 Yum! 6y
MoniqueReads305 @CocoReads is right. So gross they're good. I love McNuggets. 6y
monalyisha @CocoReads @MoniqueReads305 @hes7 @Clwojick @Meeko93 @MrBook I‘ve gotta be honest, though; I prefer Wendy‘s nuggets. Dipped in a chocolate frosty. 🙈 6y
MoniqueReads305 @monalyisha Wendy's nuggets are definitely better. They're less "gross" and don't make me feel as guilty. 6y
CocoReads My favorite nuggets are actually Chick-fil-A but we don‘t have one on our side of town. Probably a good thing or else I‘d be even more plump. 6y
Bookish.SAM Probably one of the best snacks you could have picked for a throwback readathon 👍 (edited) 6y
Clwojick @monalyisha dipped in chocolate frosty!? 😱 ahahahhahah! And you think that granny apples and ranch is weird. 😂😂 6y
monalyisha Hahahaha @Clwojick , I knew that was coming! 6y
MrBook Lol, Wendy's is indeed better. With ranch, mmmmm.... 6y
monalyisha @Clwojick It‘s not my fault! My friend Becky dared me to do it! In fact, I‘m pretty sure it was a Double Dog Dare! 🐶🐶😱 And then... I liked it. 🤷‍♀️😅 6y

My next #ThrowbackReadathon book kinda matches my breakfast. 💜🙌🏻

Book: “The Beast from the East” (Goosebumps # 43)

Breakfast: “Good Morning” Supercharged Shake (blueberries, bananas, peanut butter, granola, fresh apple juice, coconut milk & chia seeds).

Have a great day, everyone!

trazo I love Goosebumps! I got my little sister a set of these for Christmas! Enjoy! 😉 6y
KrystleTheBookSlayer My read for today is Silent Night (Fear Street), I used to love R.L. Stine! 6y
Dan_SpiderCrafts I still have this book on my desk shelf, as a Goosebumps favourite. 😃💜 6y

Real-life problem: I can‘t decide which Goosebumps book to read for the #ThrowbackReadathon. Here are the tag lines:

Welcome to Dead House: “It will just kill you.”

The Werewolf of Fever Swamp: “Who‘s afraid of the big, bad wolf?”

The Beast from the East: “He‘s a real animal!”

There‘s something appealing about starting at the beginning, but I love werewolves, & who can resist a book about man-eating, fuzzy, blue teddy bears? HELP! 😱💙🐻

BookishGirl06 I‘d pick Welcome to dead house 6y
Clwojick I vote ALL OF THEM! 6y
Clwojick But if I had to choose one, I say Beast From the East. 😱 6y

monalyisha @Clwojick That‘s the one I‘m leaning towards. It‘s got a *really* silly premise... & I think, for this particular endeavor, the sillier the better. 😝 But then the werewolf one is set in Florida, & I‘ll be traveling to Florida for a vacation right after the Readathon, so that‘s kind of neat. & I know some other people are planning to read Dead House; it‘d be fun to do a buddy read. But I just read a haunted house book & am kinda all haunted out. (edited) 6y
monalyisha @Clwojick So many things to consider!!! 😩😅 6y
Librariana Werewolf! Florida! 😁 It'll make for an interesting topic of conversation? 6y

My #ThrowbackReadathon holds are starting to come in! It has begun...

Can‘t wait! 🤓📚

monalyisha Note: I may be abusing my position of power in order to keep these babies longer than the Library Gods intended (I don‘t think they‘re in high-demand). 🤫😉 (edited) 6y
saresmoore A Ring of Endless Light! ♥️ 6y
monalyisha @saresmoore It was my absolute fave... but somehow, back in the 90‘s, I didn‘t realize that it was Book # 4 in a series! (How could I have missed that?!) I was tempted to start with the first one for the readathon but that wouldn‘t have been authentic. Oh, what complicated webs of nostalgia we weave! 😩😅 (edited) 6y

saresmoore @monalyisha If it makes you feel better, I‘ve read the series & ROEL is the best, by far. I don‘t think it‘s necessary to read them in order. But I do recommend reading the others at some point! 6y
monalyisha @saresmoore Actually, that does make me feel better! Thanks! 6y
Clwojick ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 6y
Clwojick I searched two thrift stores today to find The Phantom Tollbooth and Sideways Stories from Wayside School today with no luck! Thank goodness we gave ourselves a ton of time to get our hands on these books. Lol. 6y

Taking it super old school for my first horror book. I lived for Goosebumps, and I've sadly lost so many of my copies, luckily I have one battered copy left. #AllHallowsRead #Scarybooks

read_diverse_books Omg, I still have this book somewhere. 😂 It's so ridiculous and awesome. 8y
