This was quite entertaining. It's basically the Thrawn origin story and not surprisingly he is equally brilliant & clueless. Fortunately he has help from Admiral Ar'alani & Thalias as he fights off space pirates, uses art to judge civilizations, and anger the Chiss Ascendancy. Business as usual ❤

While there were many things about this book I really liked (Thrawn himself, the culture, Thalias' and Che'ris relationship) I still can only rate it as a So-So. For me, the book lacked of depth and could've used more charaterization. As many Star Wars novels are, this one is very story-driven, but Zahn just couldn't catch my attention for long. I was hoping for a bit more... But let's see what's more to come, right?

So did you enjoy Queen‘s Peril last month?

I quite enjoyed it, I left wishing they‘d rewrite the series from the women‘s POV‘s…all Padmé, Leia, and Ray. ?

This month we have the first book in a new Thrawn Trilogy! So put in your library holds or dig out your books. ?. Mine has a huge waitlist at the library, so I‘ll get to it when it gets here.

Strong start to the new trilogy. It was interesting to see a moment from Thrawn: Alliances retold in this book from the then Senior Captain‘s perspective. Excited to see where this series goes and hopefully we‘ll get a glimpse into how Thrawn was exiled from the Ascendancy.

We aren‘t getting to this book until the second half of 2021 with the #StarWarsBuddyRead, but it‘s on sale on kindle in the US today for anyone planning ahead or with limited library availability.

I'm cataloging Zahn's new Star Wars book and the pages have a blue border. Not something I've seen before.
