Very sad, disturbing and twisty, but unfortunately - forgettable.
Paula Hawkins knows how to deliver a good, suspenseful thriller. Daniel is found on his boat by his neighbor, Miriam, murdered. His aunt, Carla, is already suffering through the recent unexpected loss of her sister, also Daniel‘s mother. Laura, is the woman Daniel had a one night stand with and was seen leaving Daniel‘s boat. This book is really about these three women and their individual tragedies.

Heard that Rosamund Pike narrates this one so I immediately downloaded. She performs it actually, I couldn‘t love her more!
This book just had too many POVs for me and kept switching time zones too much for me to really get hooked into it.I found myself trying to work out where I was and who was speaking in each chapter which kind of distracted me from the actual storyline.I found it too slow paced for my liking also and pretty forgettable once you finish it.That being said I didn't hate it and I was interested in it enough to finish it,it was a meh read for me.⭐⭐
Not every thriller needs to be 100% plausible to be 100% enjoyable. A solid #MurderMystery from Paula Hawkins. A young man living on a houseboat is found stabbed to death by a nosey neighbor. Who would want this man dead? And why does the neighbor want to frame an author‘s wife?? At first I thought my #CovidBrain wouldn‘t keep up but narration by Rosamund Pike made it easy.
Enjoying my third read of 2022. Paula Hawkins sure can paint a picture through her words.
This book has many POVs and they're all unreliable. 😒 It takes quite a while for all the storylines to heat up and come together but once they do it's pretty interesting. I did guess fairly early who killed Daniel but we don't find out the reason until the end. I'm torn because I'm not so sure that Daniel was genuinely guilty of what the killer believes, there's definite reason to doubt. Bottom line, we have a full cast of characters for whom ⬇️
This isn‘t the greatest novel but it kept me turning the pages, which is really all I ask of a thriller. Like Girl on the Train, this one has unreliable narrators (basically EVERYONE is unreliable and most are also suspicious). There‘s a thing with a dog and a tragedy related to a child, so this is pretty dark.
Incredibly predictable. I also didn‘t feel a connection with any of the characters. I like suspense novels to have a good twist, and this was lacking that.
A young man is found murdered in a houseboat, kicking off an investigation that opens up old wounds. The first page had me worried, but that was just a red herring--an excerpt from a novel within the novel. Complex characters who find the world difficult to navigate make this a particularly engrossing read, and the plot keeps twisting right up to the very end. Good stuff.
Fixin‘ to go read myself to sleep. Hank the Book Sniffer seems to have his sense of order disturbed by my mighty bright book light sticking out the top of my book. 🤣

This mystery really tugged on my heartstrings. I felt so much compassion for Irene, Carla, Angela, and especially Laura and Miriam.
Stunning weather in which to be a soccer mama. Reading while waiting for the game to start. #brightspot
⭐️⭐️⭐️ In London, a struggling young man, renting a dilapidated houseboat, is savagely murdered. We are carefully introduced to three women who all know him in some capacity and the story unravels from there. Good writing, intriguing suspects, but one very odd relationship which served no real purpose other than to be shocking, needed to be omitted. Otherwise, a solid thriller. No surprise, Rosamund Pike narrates perfectly!
Laying in bed reading means lots of snuggles 😍🤓🐱
If you put out fall decorations, it has to become fall right?
Starting the tagged book today ... I haven't heard many reviews of this one from other readers but I'm excited to dig into it.
Excellent thriller. Loved every second. The audio was amazing - Rosamund Pike 😍
Paula Hawkins doing what she does best - an irresistible page-turner, full of tension and twists. If you liked THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN, you‘ll love this. Added bonus: it‘s set in my old neighborhood in London. Coming in August.
Have to say, I enjoyed this more than her first book—there‘s murder, mayhem and motivation aplenty which makes for a very entertaining story. I don‘t want to say too much since it isn‘t out until August and spoilers are the WORST. But I will say if you liked the first, you‘ll likely like this one too. On sale 8/31/21.
Tonight‘s reading is a story of “deceit, murder, and revenge” according to the description on the back. Sounds like a great way to finish the evening!
