I've had the hardback of this for years but had to get the paperback, couldn't just leave it there on the shelf; I've given it a home. 💫

It's absolutely brilliant, very complex, strange, imaginative and wonderfully written.

I'd say it's Barker's best book, if you're into long books that are on a biblical scale; there's a good chance you'll love this one! ✅

MrT Mine is WeaveWorld (I have the original hardback) followed closely by The Great & Secret Show 4y
TheNeverendingTBR @MrT Weaveworld was incredible, I found it quite similar to Imajica in a lot of ways; I also have this hardback too. I have The Great & Secret Show but I've never read that one though 😌 4y
TheNeverendingTBR @MrT The Damnation Game & Coldheart Canyon were brilliant ones also, did you read those ones? 4y

MrT Read the former, not the latter. And read Cabal, Sacrament, Galilee and Everville 4y
TheNeverendingTBR @MrT I recommend! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4y
TheNeverendingTBR @MrT I didn't like Cabal and Sacrament so much, they were like 3/5 rated reads for me 4y
Soubhiville I loved this book and most of his others. I agree, I didn‘t care much for Sacrament. 4y
TheNeverendingTBR @Soubhiville The ending to that one was just do damn weird, like wat!? 😂 4y

One of the prides of my first edition collection, this hand-drawn sketch in my hardcover copy of Clive Barker's phenomenal IMAJICA always delights me. If you haven't read this epic of the imagination from one of the most beautiful prose stylists to ever work in horror and fantasy fiction, you're missing an absolute miracle of storytelling. Five stars, one of my favorite books of all time.

Thank you do much @heikemarie I love everything. The candle smells so good and I've been really wanting to read Imajica. I'm sure the masks will be a hit my niece and nephews and I may give some to my Aunt for her students 🎃

Thanks for the tag @AsYouWish #two4tuesday

1. Yes. When I lived near used bookstores I loved to hunt for a treasure (books).

2. I used to drink Dr. Pepper when reading but I had to give that up and now it‘s unsweetened tea.

259/365 9.17.18 #hurricaneflorence it rains, I read. #readingjournal for #Imajica by Clive Barker—names and triangulations. I‘m lost in the Dominions and just fine there. “Between warring kings, a peacemaker; between adoring spouses, a seducer or a child. Between twins, the spirit of the womb. Between lovers, Death.”

Mehso-so

Imajica is a sprawling, dimension-hopping epic, so it sounded right up my alley, but unfortunately the majority of it felt like a slog. There were sections I enjoyed, namely around 200 pages in the middle, but overall it could have used some heavy-handed editing. Barker's writing itself is beautiful and at times poetic, which is one of the few saving graces of the book. I'm glad I read it, but I'm not sure I'd recommend it.

Finished the third book on my 2017 reading list. I've been interspersing my reading with shorter books that aren't on this list. I know I'm not going to get to all of these this year (LOL at me putting a 5 volume history set as one book), but some of these have been sitting on my shelves for over a decade and I'm doing my best to bring my to read list up to date. #somanybooks

An epic tale that lags a bit in the middle, but is well worth reading.

I'm about 70 or so pages in and I'm really enjoying it so far, but that's to be expected really ( I've never met a Clive Barker book I didn't like!) I love these embossed symbols that were hiding under the dust cover.

Oof. A hell of a thing. I think it might take me a while to collect my thoughts on this one because it's doing so much at once. (I also know I unfairly compare other Barker books to Galilee, which swept me off my feet so completely)

[5/100]

#FunFridayPhoto Weighing in (and I do mean weighing) at 824 pages, Clive Barker's epic Imajica is the longest book I've ever finished. Quite a feat for a slow, moody reader like myself.

Was thinking all day that I was going to post a Clive Barker book for #published in the 1990s. His work was brilliant then. Hubby and I weren't a couple then and we both have signed copies 😀

#ILikeBigBooks My favorite is this worn and well loved copy of Imajica weighing in at 825 pages. I love this book with a passion. Some other favorite #bigbooks are Weaveworld, also by Clive Barker and The Stand by Stephen King. #booktober @RealLifeReading

ApoptyGina69 I have the same well-worn coverless edition, but earlier this year, my guy bought me a freshie complete with dust jacket. One for re-reading, one for photo ops! 8y
Texreader Beautiful! The Stand was in my big book photo shoot. 8y
JustTrish @ApoptyGina69 He sounds like a keeper!❤ 8y
JustTrish @Texreader I have that one too but was too lazy to go downstairs and get it. 😉 It's epic. 8y

I like fantasy in general over sci-fi. It's a tricky definition though, because I love worlds that are similar to ours, but apocalyptic and/or futuristic, good or bad, but not space or robots, but aliens and the supernatural are great. "I know it when I see it". The Imajica, five dominions, is a character in and of itself and this novel is the epitome of the fantasy/horror format that appeals to me. #fantasycharacter #octphotochallenge

Skipped around way to much. Hard to follow. Character development was good, up to the point that the same characters split into two more of the same.
