Read this fun paranormal, adventure romance last week & lived it. Will get to the sequel soon. Saw Gwenda Bond at the book fair yesterday. She said she‘s coming out with an adult romance about witches, sort of like Mr & Mrs Smith movie, next!

This pretty reads like a Lucifer fanfic. Callie reluctantly agrees to handle her family's escape room business when one of her clients turns out to be a group of inept Satanists who steal a magical artifact and try to summon the Devil. Instead they call forth the hunky Luke Morningstar, the son of the King of Hell, instead and the pair need to retrieve the stolen item to save the world. Hilarity and typical rom-com tropes ensue.

Even though the synopsis sounded fun, the title made me hesitant. I should have gone with my first instinct as this book fell flat for me.

I think the main problem is this book wants to be like a Charley Davidson or Mercy Thompson (i.e., smart, funny, clever paranormal urban fantasy) but it fails. Plus I can‘t stand insta-loves and there‘s no real chemistry between Luke & Callie.

I will not be reading the next book.

Book 3 for #NovelNovember

My favorite day of the year is happening. I may have gone a little overboard—I‘m blaming it on covid since they couldn‘t do the fair last year 😬🙂
I‘ll post my large stack later.
@Megabooks Are there any books you want? You can look on the kybookfestival site for the list.

Megabooks I have not looked yet, but I‘m so glad you‘re enjoying it!! 2y
Scochrane26 @Megabooks I did enjoy it. And I just realized I should have gotten you Drowned Town. I didn‘t have a long time to shop, so I mostly just shopped for myself! 2y

3.5/5

This was a super fun read, especially around Halloween. Callie is surprised to find out that her occult themed escape room might have been a little too realistic when a cult shows up and summons a demon. Luke is on thin, demonic ice even before he messes up his shot to steal the souls of the cult members. Callie and Luke team up together to try to stop the cult from ending the world, while also dealing with their growing attraction.

I wanted to like this one more than I did. Something about it was just off. I plan to read the next book though.

A cult comes to Callie‘s family escape room to summon a demon from hell. Luke shows up instead and they have to try and stop the end of the world.

Here are some of my goals for #OutstandingOctober

Currently reading the tagged book. Hope to finish it and start Once and Future Witches. I‘m currently reading the Beautiful on my kindle. And I‘m very behind on a Night in the Lonesome October that I need to catch up on!

Crazeedi I have once and future witches on my tbr shelf!! 3y

This was a ridiculous read. But, ridiculous in a lighthearted manner. I think I was expecting more from this, but it was a fast and entertaining read; even if I won‘t ever think about it again. What I would love to know though, is what the needing meant.
