Oh my gersh, I just finished #onceuponabrokenheart and looooved it! I was so happy to see Jacks getting to continue his story. As much as I love Legend 🎩 for Tella, I was also rooting for Jacks & Tella. 🤭😍. Jacks 4 Ever! ♥️🍏🍎🫶🏼😍💋✨
Once Upon a Broken Heart, Shatter Me, and Letters of Enchantment fans, this one‘s for you! 😌
🧠📖 These 3 memorable series show the many complex layers of amnesia and showcase the triumphs of characters facing the hardships of this disorder.

This book was sooooooo good! I devovoured it. But I thought the series could get better and it did. The romance was on top though. 4/5⭐️
Mystical, magical and beautifully rendered… I loved every second I spent with these characters and can‘t wait to continue the adventures with them!
Thankful for a hospital with a good coffeeshop inside it and for a good book!
I was forcing myself to finish this book, I was so excited to finally start reading it after hearing so much good about it. But it wasn‘t for me. I finished the book by giving it 2.5 stars and I will read the second book too, just because I already bought it.

"But she was like the tide drawn by the tremendous force of the moon. It was no wonder waves were always crashing; they must have hated the pull as much as she did."
I loved the idea behind this story. Very fairytale, magical, and mystical. I will say….I had a hard time getting into this book. I wanted to finish..and I did. It was…fine? I will probably read the next book at some point, but for now I‘m glad that I finished this one.
Jacks is an excellent character and I look forward to reading more about him in the continuation of the trilogy. I was not a fan of Evangeline at the start, but she does go through some growth over the course of the book. I am looking forward to continuing the series.
I love this world. This book is a continuation of the world of Caraval, simply with some new characters. Stephanie Garber creates a world that feels so real yet it‘s an escape. It is the best fantasy world I‘ve ever visited through a book. Jacks has some phenomenal character growth throughout, I‘m so glad he made a return in this series. I‘m obsessed.
Stephanie Garber had me at a series that features Jacks. I loved him in Legendary, but I adore him ever more in these books. Evangeline is his match in so many ways, and I love that he nicknamed her “Little Fox.”
I don‘t really know what to say here because I had my doubts about this book in the beginning but it exceeded my expectations. I do think I should note that the book is heavily character-driven since the plot follows their whims and ideas (which I didn‘t find an issue since the characters are extremely well-written). In general though, I really liked this world and the way fairytale magic was described and used throughout the story.
4⭐️
“You sound jealous.”
“If you think I‘m jealous because someone else got to stab you, then you‘re right.”
She wasn‘t making loving choices, she was making compromising choices because she wanted love.
“By my words, I join these two together. I tie not only their wrists but also their hearts. May they beat as one from this moment on. If one is pierced with an arrow, may the other bleed for them.”
“Just love him the same way you live your life—love him without holding back, love him as if every day with him will be more magical than the last, love him as if he‘s your destiny and the world will be better if you two are together, and he won‘t be able to ever stop loving you.”
“I‘d give you the world if I could. The moon, the stars, and all the suns in the universe.”
“I‘m not going to tell you to trust me, because that‘s a terrible idea.”
“I believe there are far more possibilities than happily ever after or tragedy. Every story has the potential for infinite endings.”
Hope is a difficult thing to kill, just a spark of it can start a fire.
“Heroes don‘t get happy endings. They give them to other people.”
“I don‘t know if I can fix your broken heart, but you can take mine because it‘s already yours.”
“All stories are made of both truths and lies,” she used to say. “What matters is the way that we believe in them.”
If hope were a pair of wings, Evangeline‘s were stretching out behind her eager to take flight again.
Managed to get the first 2 books to this trilogy. Anyone read them? Does it bother anyone else when the books aren't the same height in a series? 😅😅😅 not complaining lol
I am enchanted! It should be noted that this is the first of Garber's books I have read (I was unaware that the world and some characters showed up in Caraval), but I loved the stories and world building. I didn't always like Evangeline, but I loved following her through this tale. Currently unsure of Jacks who seems too toxic. Still, good world building, great lore, an interesting premise and charming characters. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I never read a Romance Fantasy until I read once upon a broken heart and fell in love with this genre! I immediately had to buy the second bookThe Ballad of Never Never! If you love a Romance with a hint of fantasy and haven‘t read these I recommend it! The third book comes out at the end of the year!
It was so much fun revisiting the Caraval world and catching up with some of its beloved characters. If there‘s one thing Garber can write, it‘s MAGIC! She does such a fantastic job creating this fun, whimsical world (waiting on her to drop a recipe book 😋) while also adding elements from some of our favorite fairytales. My only complaint was how dumb and naive Evangeline is throughout the entire book, like sis come on!! For that it gets 4 stars
The first twenty to thirty pages were rough. I was expecting this to be a terrible read especially with how Jacks was introduced, but I was wrong. The book got better. There were still some things I didn‘t like, but I was able to overlook. I ended up enjoying this way more than I thought I would and actually read it in two days because I couldn‘t put it down. The ending was left on such a cliffhanger and I can't wait to read the second book.
The most wonderful time of the year! Maybe I'll get through a couple more. For now, tagged book was my best read, Richard Osman was a close second.

@bree.v08 just gave me the best news ever! Once upon a broken heart is getting a THIRD BOOK! 🥳🥳
I was so excited….giddy with happinesss!
…..until I realized I have to wait a whole year to see what happens to EvaJacks…..
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I really enjoyed this book. This was a super fast read for a 400 page book. It starts in a quick-paced desperate way that kept me swiping (kindle book read!) I‘m a Garber fan and can‘t help but become intertwined with her magical way of writing. I‘ve been struggling with YA Fantasy, what used to be my favorite genre has become predictable and eye rolling. This book was fun! And I could easily overlook Evangeline‘s stupid choices!
So I never read the Caraval series but I read this one in 1 day! Super fun, fast paced, twists and turns. Can't wait for the next one.

“I believe there are far more possibilities than happily ever after or tragedy. Every story has the potential for infinite endings.”
Evangeline Fox grew up hearing legends of immortals, like the tragic story of the Prince of Hearts. 🤴🏼💔 Where his powers are that of mythic proportions and his kiss is worth dying for… 💋

I was honestly surprised that I enjoyed this book so much -my fantasy preferences strongly run primarily in shifter books-but I‘ve already placed a hold on Caraval to read them all! The characters were intriguing as was the universe itself. It was delightful!
I read 18 books in April.
This was the worst reading slump month I‘ve had in years.
Here are nine 4.5 - 5 star reads.
Three were ARCs, two were Libby loans and four were from my personal stash. (My goal is to read more of my own books)
April was a mixed bag of fun! I could easily recommend all of these books to someone.
