Is it February already?!?!?

I got impatient waiting for my library to get The Winter of the Witch by Katherine Arden (they finally did) and looked for it in the neighboring county‘s system but with a lot of holds on it. So I requested this book by Arden Moore that came up in the same search!

Also on #FebruaryTBR list:
-The Underground Railroad
-Knots and Crosses
-Murder on the Red River
-An Easy Death
-Lincoln‘s Bodyguard
+++?

My #InternationalCatDay furr babies. 😻😻😻 Literary names for nerdy parents: Gilbert Blythe and Pond (after Amy Pond and our love for Doctor Who, which isn't really a book but oh well) 😽

Laalaleighh 😻😻 such cuties!! 8y

BookishFeminist Aw adorable! 😍😍 love their nerdy names. I am also a whovian. 🤓 8y

WordWaller Thanks guys! And @BookishFeminist glad to meet another fan! I'm not a true fan because I haven't even watched all of it, but Pond fits her name soooo well. I ❤️ her 8y
BookishFeminist @WordWaller I haven't watched it all either no worries. @Trav is also into a Doctor Who! Amy pond is my favorite. 😊 8y
Yamich49 Love it! My niece and I named one of my parents' cats Amy Pond! I forced my niece into watching (and loving) DW when she was about seven and Amy is one of our fave companions. 8y
Mayread Pfft. I find all this Amelia Pond love as alarming as consuming fish fingers and custard. Donna is clearly the best companion in the reboot, followed by Martha & then Amy. Let us not discuss Rose. @WordWaller @BookishFeminist 8y
BookishFeminist @Skiles @Wordwaller LOL I love Donna & Martha too BUT AMY THOUGH. You're right, we shall not talk about Rose. 8y
Trav @BookishFeminist Woo!! Thanks for the mention. It's always a pleasure to meet other Whovian fans. I love DW ❤️❤️ 8y
Trav @Skiles Donna is my FAVOURITE! It's very rare when I come across someone who claims Donna as their fav so I'm incredibly happy right now. 8y
ReadingOver50 @Trav @Skiles Also love Donna. She is my fav, followed by Amy. I couldn't stand Clara so I am hoping the next companion is better. 8y
Trav @ReadingOver50 Nice to see another Donna appreciator. I liked Clara until they turned it into the Clara show and the Doctor was relegated to the sidelines. I blame the writing. 8y
BookishFeminist @Trav @Skiles @ReadingOver50 I just wish they had Donna on for longer! I love her since she's by far the sassiest, but I felt like we didn't get enough. (She's my second fave. Biased about Amy bc I'm part Scottish.) 8y

LauraBeth They own that couch like a boss 😻 8y
Tanzy13 🐱 8y
WordWaller @Skiles @BookishFeminist @Trav @Yamich49 Okay, well we're biased because (don't kill me) we started out watching with Matt Smith as the Dr and Amy as the companion and I fell in love with them! Most of my friends hate me for that. They're all Donna fans too! Not saying I don't like her. I still have yet to finish every series completely 8y
Mayread @WordWaller Donna's arc is beautiful & kind of heartbreaking. Amy's had that potential. But. Moffat. Dragged. It. On. And. On. And hammered into our heads how damn ❄️ special ❄️the Ponds were. Until you wanted her to be eaten by the Master. Smith was an amazing Doctor, though. 8y
Yamich49 @WordWaller Donna is my favorite companion - you need to watch those previous seasons immediately! Also, I adore David Tennant so I'm a little biased towards his doctor as well. I do love Eleven and Amy but you need to see Donna and Ten in action! 8y
Yamich49 @WordWaller @skiles @BookishFeminist @trav Is this post going to become our go-to DW discussion post? Since we're not getting a new season this year? 😉 8y
Yamich49 @Skiles Yes! Donna's was the most heartbreaking and I will never forgive the show for doing that to her. I wish they had her on for more seasons before she left! 8y
Yamich49 Okay this is going to be my last post, but for you Donna lovers - have you seen the comic relief bit that her and David Tennant did? @Skiles @trav @BookishFeminist https://youtu.be/WxB1gB6K-2A 8y
Mayread @Yamich49 As a Whovian & lover of Tate, oh yes! But I never mind watching again. 🙂 8y
WordWaller @Skiles very true! She got so old by the end. I was confused watching it because I wondered if they treated all the companions like that. And @Yamich49 yeah, I started watching it because I love David Tennant too but then they took it off Netflix in February!! 😫 so I don't know what to do and now I read too much. 8y
BookishFeminist @Yamich49 @WordWaller @Skiles @trav YES I think it might become our DW thread. Tho confession, I haven't watched the most recent season because I got sick of Clara. 😬 I need to go catch up, though. My fave Doctor is Matt Smith as well but it's a tough choice between him and David Tennant. The Donna season is SO GOOD. I agree tho, Jenna! I won't forgive the show for how they ended Donna's storyline. I LOVE THAT LINK. I never mind watching again! 8y
BookishFeminist @WordWaller WAIT WHAT THEY TOOK IT OFF NETFLIX IN FEBRUARY?! 😩 8y
WordWaller @BookishFeminist I KNOW I WAS SO SO SO MAD. I haven't even checked since the spring so maaaaaaybe it's back? Or on Amazon Prime? Or Hulu? But I just can't get them from the library because I don't watch it fast enough!! 8y
BookishFeminist @WordWaller I think it's on Prime! I haven't checked in a while though & might be confused though bc I used to buy new episodes on there that I'd missed. THIS IS TERRIBLE NEWS. 8y
Mayread @WordWaller @BookishFeminist Yep! It's on prime. They inked a multi-year deal. 8y
BookishFeminist @Skiles @WordWaller 💖💖 YOU SAVED THE DAY 8y
Trav @WordWaller I would never want to hurt another Whovian fan based on their preferences -- unless you said Christopher Eccleston was your favourite (I joke). Smith is extremely talented and was a fantastic Doctor, but the writing let him down. You'll understand when you watch earlier episodes. I'm in the DT camp for favourite Doctor. 8y
Trav @BookishFeminist @Yamich49 @WordWaller I have to agree with @Skiles, it felt as though Moffat forced the Ponds down our throats, which made me want to see both Amy and Roy gone quick smart. Shame. Also -- why do we have to wait until 2017 for? Wahhhhh. Have any of you watched the old series? I'm currently watching it atm, bad acting, mediocre effects & all. The Doctor's granddaughter is the very first companion. 8y
Trav @BookishFeminist I got sick of Clara too because it became all about Clara, Clara, Clara. I had to really persevere with those seasons. I wasn't sure how I felt about Peter Capaldi but he really proves his worth in 'Heaven Sent', his acting was flawless. 8y
Procrastireader @Trav have you seen The a Word (on Sundance now, I think). Eccleston is brilliant in it. I never understood why he treats Dr. Who so dismissively. (I actually do like his Dr.) I, too, took a minute to warm up to Capaldi (although the bit about the eyebrows was hilarious). I have to say that in his first episodes I was just waiting for him to let fly with a torrent of F words (In The Loop forever!) 8y
Trav @Procrastireader No I haven't (though I'm an Aussie so assuming Sundance is a television station?) it sounds intriguing though. I don't mind Eccleston as an actor, I just didn't think he was suitable for the role as the Doctor. The eyebrows were hilarious! And yes I can understand why, Capaldi definitely has that character about him. 8y
Procrastireader Sorry, yes, not everyone lives in America ?. Sundance is indeed an American cable channel (started by Robert Redford's Sundance organization, FWIW). "The a Word" is a British production tho, so you should be able to get ahold of it. 8y
