I read this for genre book club (the theme: books about books). It was an entertaining if somewhat contrived read. Liv works as a cleaner for reclusive best-selling author Essie Starling. When Essie dies suddenly, Liv is tasked with finishing her final novel, under one condition--she must keep the assignment secret. Her writing empowers Liv but strains her marriage, already feeling pressure from financial difficulties and an impending empty nest.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I enjoyed this more than I expected, as I felt it got off to a slow start. I saw where the story was going but liked seeing it all come together. A #Roll100 #doublespin double whammy! 🙌🏼

I didn‘t realize that a lot of people rated this book really low. But I bet it‘s a LOT better read than my last read, The Wild Boys 😵‍💫

Update: I really enjoyed this quick read!

I joined the #sundaybuddyread last month to read this doozy. I probably would have bailed if not for the hilarious discussions each week (I finally went back and read the comments for the last week when I was off Litsy) My partner was constantly checking on me while I was reading this because of my loud annoyed sighs at the characters.
The above quote really summed up the main character imo 🙄

TheBookHippie HA!! It was so so very AWFUL!!! The quote is PERFECT! 1y

Read for #SundayBuddyRead & between So-So & Pan for me but I‘ll round up slightly because I disliked it less than most of our group, it‘s a book about books & writing & I liked one of the author‘s previous books.🤷🏻‍♀️The premise had promise but the characters were flat & not very likable & any development in them happened slightly at the end so nothing was plausible & the plot “twist” really wasn‘t one or should not have been. I do like a look⬇️

DebinHawaii …at how authors write & are published & the cover is ⭐️ The #SundayBuddyRead discussions were top notch as usual & lots of fun, thanks to @TheBookHippie 1y

I‘m enjoying our #SundayBuddyRead discussions for this one and I‘m totally drawn in by the cover, but otherwise not for me. Too many characters annoyed me along the way and I found the ending unsatisfying.

A number of people participating in the #SundayBuddyRead really, really didn‘t like this book. But I didn‘t hate it. I have a habit of trying out as many books as possible about books, libraries, book stores, writers, etc. The cover is gorgeous, and that‘s it‘s selling point for a lot of people. But it has the word “book” in the title, so I was doomed. What made the book so entertaining for me was discussing it with Littens. And I heard book recs.

#SundayBuddyRead

The best things about this book are the cover and reading it with like minded readers. Big 👎🏼 from me but looking forward to our last discussion next Sunday.
