Nice extra details to supplement the main story.

Short vignettes from Pottermore about the Hogwarts Express, castle ghosts, the sorting hat, the pensieve, Platform 9 3/4, portraits, and more. After giving details and the history of each thing, there are notes from Rowling. I loved hearing about the behind-the-scenes, like the creation of the time turners in the third book becoming a problem that she had to fix by destroying them in the fifth book. Fun for big Harry Potter fans.
Muggles who insist that they see ghosts in perfect focus are either a) lying or b) wizards showing off—and in flagrant breach of the International Statute of Secrecy. 👻
This was a fun little read. A behind-the-scenes look at Hogwarts with interesting tidbits not mentioned in the books. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Here lies the end of gingerbread Hogwarts...the squirrels sure are enjoying it. (Our squirrels are so big they look like cats).
If it comes from the world of Harry Potter and Magic there will be no shortage of #kisskissbangbang. #tuneintonovember
Thats a wrap for this photo challenge.
Another fun read to share with my #hpchapteraday peeps 😊 I 💜 feeling like I know Hogwarts just a little bit better & am ready to go exploring to discover even more of its treasures, secrets, & maybe a few dangers (just little ones though 😜)
#hpchapteraday Thinking of these artifacts of Hogwarts as #technology shows they harbor many of the same strengths & weaknesses. The Mirror of Erised is like much of our tech-it has its place but if one gets caught up in it, it will diminish the quality of life. The philosopher‘s stone & the sword of Gryffindor have positive traits but warn from envy & greed. The Pensieve reminds me of FB-the wonder of sharing & the danger of the loss of privacy.
#hpchapteraday The ghostly & painted residents of Hogwarts show us that the border between #lifeanddeath is a bit more complex & varied than many think. I like that ghosts are a product of a fear of death or unfinished business. It gives insight into the character. Also the portraits, esp headmaster/mistress ones, ate cool. I like that it‘s the power of the wizard/witch depicted, not the skill of the painter, that creates the life-likeness.
Been saving this book for just the right time. I‘m stuck in bed with a very sore throat, not able to sleep. So here we go... #hogwarts #harrypotter #firstline
#hpchapteraday there is plenty of #knowledge to be had at Hogwarts. Like Hermione, I want to take all the lessons. However I like that we get to see that knowledge has a price & can be quite dangerous. Time is not be messes with!
#hpchapteraday #community is built in so many ways, including environment. Environment shapes the character of the community & what better shaper of the UK magical community than Hogwarts? The common rooms reflect the character of these mini communities. The flora & fauna are also an important facet of the community. & how perfect is it that the rule breakers are the ones to delve the secrets & capture them in a way to encourage future mischief.
#hpchapteraday The sorting hat‘s a perfect chance to think of #identityandchoice. Today we are finally having conversations about identity & choice which is a step forward even if we have to battle for every millimeter we move forward. I agree with Dumbledore that we sort too soon in the ways we use socialization to try to force our choices of how we think others should be rather than accepting people for who they are. Sorting hat food for thought
#hpchapteraday I can definitely see how the priblem of #secrecy would be a struggle in getting all these kids to Hogwarts without drawing attention. One thing I want to know however...2nd year, why did none of these undercover wizard agents intervene when the barrier malfunctioned on Harry & Ron? I mean, really-get it together Ministry of Magic 🙄
It never does to dwell on dreams and forget to live, nor to dwell on #technology that mimics those dreams. Sad, but true....fantasy and escapism is good for the soul, but never let it become your life.😉
#HPChapterADay
I really loved all three of these little ebooks. The behind the scenes, little author discussions, and side stories. I love getting peeks into the thought processes that go on in an author‘s mind and how they transform and grow into a complete world....that is truly the most amazing magic.
#HPChapterADay
I really am loving these little author discussions in these short story snippet ebooks, I love getting peeks into their thought processes.

"Where do Vanished objects go?" "Into nonbeing, that is to say, everything." Um, gross ??
It's a good thing wizards decided to catch up with Muggle technology and install plumbing. I'm sure all the Muggle-born students at Hogwarts are very grateful! #hpchapteraday
“lowered its fearsome head to swallow Sir Cadogan and the pony whole, but the splintered and misfiring wand pierced its tongue, igniting the gassy fumes rising from its stomach and causing the wyvern to explode.”
LOL, perfect example of how one lives one‘s life, being remembered quite differently afterwards, as a blundering portrait. #LifeAndDeath
#HPChapterADay
#LifeAndDeath and some art imitating life here. A brilliant stroke on her part, which progressed to great effect as the series continued.
#HPChapterADay
Wizarding portraits aren't really alive, but apparently they can be taught. Pretty cool to see how that works! #hpchapteraday
With great power comes great responsibility, and that is true for authors as well as the characters. And of course #knowledge is power. 😉
#HPChapterADay
It's good that the wizards have the knowledge of the limits on time travel. Unfortunately, the events of Cursed Child totally contradict this article. Does that mean we can consider it non-canon? 🤔 #hpchapteraday
I loved her description of the Hufflepuff common room & immediately thought I might want to visit it myself. Each common room in the castle represented a safe space for each house to have their #community, home away from home, and let their hair down. As much as I enjoyed seeing this glimpse of Hufflepuff‘s, I‘m also glad that it remained privately theirs, even to the prying eyes of The Chosen One, some things should remain sacred.
#HPChapterADay
I love the idea that the Hufflepuff common room has a simple, unchanging password—not as a comment on Hufflepuffs' intelligence, but on their openness. They can share the way to get in with all of their friends, and then the friends can stop by at any time. It's totally egalitarian and a great way to build community! #hpchapteraday
I think deciding to read the rest of Harry Potter with the group on Litsy, one chapter a day, may be the best decision I made this year. In these troubled times, it‘s great to come home to a touch of magic, steadfast friendship, and the family you make for yourself in troubled times.

#IdentityAndChoice
One choice, or a few choices, that go against the usual qualities of a House do not necessarily mean that the Sorting Hat has made a mistake. A person's identity is made up of more than that. I think the Sorting Hat is quite right to insist that it's never wrong—especially since it allows the students themselves some choice. #hpchapteraday
Hahaha! This made me smile! A secret to the author herself with her choice of platform locations.
#HPChapterADay
There are so many secrets hidden in King's Cross Station! I love the idea that you can take all kinds of special trains from hidden platforms in between the Muggle platforms. The "you" in the preceding sentence is a witch or wizard, of course. ? #hpchapteraday
#backtoreading
Not so sure I'm going to have #spinofflove for these HP stories.
Fun, quick read. It was a little strange that there was a chapter about the Hufflepuff common room and none of the others? I think it was because that one is never described in the books, but I would have liked more information on the others anyway.
Book 8 for #sumtbreadathon
I just tried the Time sorting hat quiz and was surprised that it placed me in Ravenclaw (narrowly beating Hufflepuff) since Pottermore placed me in Slytherin! In many ways, Ravenpuff seems a better fit, but 🤷♀️I'm not going to abandon my house 🐍

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood was such a treat! I can't wait to go back.
The first book I've read cover to cover in two weeks! Yey me! Ok, so it was less than 100 pages but when in the middle of a horrendous book slump I'm chuffed 😃 It was great to be back in the world again!
Jumping on the bandwagon! Ravenclaw 💙😄
This was a fun "behind the scenes" look at the ghosts, characters, and other magical happenings at Hogwarts. Each little chapter has a description of the history, and then JK Rowling's thought process for creating each facet.
Taking a break from the world of the Stand to jump into another world I love...Harry Potter! Three more books to go. *Very* exciting NYE celebrating going on in our household 😂🍾
Of all the days to stumble across this name Happy birthday Sir Isaac Newton!
And in that moment, we knew once and or all that Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was not now, nor could it ever be, canon, and we all breathed a sigh of relief. #harrypotter #cursedchild
Fun and light reading. I would still prefer to read Hogwarts: A History, but I'll settle for the treats in these pages. Discovered details about Portkey sickness, visited the Hufflepuff Common Room, and learned about a rare occurrence where Wizards copied Muggles. The last was particularly hilarious!
After a long day, I'm ready for bed with my #BookAndBrew. The various Hogwarts short stories are calling to me. #ComfortReading #PhotoADayNov16
I love this background knowledge to the wizarding world. It is just this deep background that makes Jo's writing so alive and it is wonderful to get a peek at it!
