Holiday Romance: A totally hilarious and unforgettable Christmas romantic comedy
Holiday Romance: A totally hilarious and unforgettable Christmas romantic comedy | Catherine Walsh
27 posts | 20 read | 11 to read
She's meant to be catching flights, not catching feelings... Molly and Andrew are just trying to get home to Ireland for the holidays, when a freak snowstorm grounds their flight. Nothing romantic has ever happened between them: they're friends and that's all. But once a year, for the last ten years, Molly has spent seven hours and fifteen minutes sitting next to Andrew on the last flight before Christmas from Chicago to Dublin, drinking terrible airplane wine and catching up on each other's lives. In spite of all the ways the two friends are different, it's the holiday tradition neither of them has ever wanted to give up. Molly isn't that bothered by Christmas, but-in yet another way they're total opposites-Andrew is a full-on fanatic for the festive season and she knows how much getting back to Ireland means to him. So, instead of doing the sane thing and just celebrating the holidays together in America, she does the stupid thing. The irrational thing. She vows to get him home. And in time for his mam's famous Christmas dinner. The clock is ticking. But Molly always has a plan. And-as long as the highly-specific combination of taxis, planes, boats, and trains all run on time-it can't possibly go wrong. What she doesn't know is that, as the snow falls over the city and over the heads of two friends who are sure they're not meant to be together, the universe might just have a plan of its own... A totally gorgeous and escapist friends-to-lovers festive romance with a swoon-worthy hero. Perfect for fans of Sophie Kinsella, Mhairi McFarlane, and Christina Lauren. Readers are head over heels for Holiday Romance: "OH MY GOODNESS!... I looooooved this so much!... I had to stop myself from devouring this story much faster! I wanted to enjoy every moment of Molly and Andrew's journey... And awwwwwww!!! Their chemistry!... Sizzling... I ABSOLUTELY FELL IN LOVE... PERFECTION!" Goodreads reviewer ????? "SO MUCH FUN. It's a feel good holiday rom com that hits all the right spots... I fell in love with Molly and Andrew as they fell for each other... The chemistry and tension was off the charts and I was screaming "just kiss you guys"... I was actually cackling at every chapter... The best thing I could've read... My only problem is that I wish I could have more of it. And that I want an Andrew for myself!" Goodreads reviewer ????? "Wow wow wow. I'm just utterly hopelessly in love with this book." Goodreads reviewer ????? "I totally binged it in a day, I did not want to put this one down!... it was everything I could have hoped for... it gave me all the warm fuzzy, holiday feelings... Get ready for some cozy blanket and curl up with a hot cocoa vibes... had me laughing, crying (happy tears) and left me smiling and wanting more." Goodreads reviewer ????? "I literally read it in just a few hours, I could not put it down." Goodreads reviewer ????? "Literally everyone go read this book! It's giving me friends to lovers and I am HERE FOR IT!!!" I found my favorite author and one of my top reads of the YEAR.

Its the friendships, the romance, the COMEDY, the side characters you never want to let go of. Now im a SUCKER for friends to lovers, I always will be. The friendship between Molly and Andrew is unforgettable, I still think about them and I read this years ago. Its one of those relationships people dream of having. I love them and reading this is worth it in so many ways.

Holiday Romance by Catherine Walsh was exactly what I needed to get through a busy week. It was light and fun, but also kept me wanting to come back for more. I couldn‘t wait to pick my Kindle back up and join Andrew and Molly again on their Christmas travel adventure. Friends to lovers, so cute, so sweet, just a little spice, escapism reading. And missing the elements of most romance books that bug me. Last book of 2023! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 ❤️📚

It has its cute moments and has festive vibes, but the whole book felt like it was dragging and forced. This novel doesn‘t particularly stick out, but it was still quite enjoyable read :)

This one was a lot of fun. The perfect friends to lovers cozy romantic read for the holidays. I really enjoyed it. I kinda wish I‘d read it on audio, though, since I‘ve heard that the characters‘ Irish accents are great. Definitely recommended as a feel-good holiday read! #romantsy ❤️

A soft pick. I didn‘t find it totally hilarious and while I liked it, I didn‘t love it. I thought it lacked something. I‘m normally all for a good friends to lovers trope, but this one didn‘t make me feel it. Andrew wasn‘t well fleshed out. There were a couple other issues too that makes this a 3 star read.

julesG It's not totally hilarious, true. I read the second book first, which might have influenced my rating. Also, reading it after a (totally un-hilarious) romance set in the US that was leaning too much on the small town Christmas experience. 3mo

Next on my plate…I‘m such a mood reader and I‘m in the mood for a light holiday book! I referenced a few bookish podcasts I listen to and took a recommendation from Literally Reading. Holiday Romance by Catherine Walsh was on their 12 Romcoms of Christmas list and this one is on Kindle Unlimited. Winning! ❤️📚

I really had so much fun reading this one! The title, though lackluster, is accurate— this is exactly that, a holiday romance to make you laugh, and just in general be merry as you read this friends to lovers story. Molly and Ian are both living in Chicago but travel home to Ireland each holiday season. For a decade things have changed in their lives, but their friendship has remained consistent. A huge thank you to my SIL for loaning me her copy!

That's the kind of festive #RomCom I like. No overly cutesy and fantastical Christmas towns, just normal people falling for each other at Christmas. 😁

julesG @slategreyskies @melzen @wanderinglynn - the sequel is also good, and can be read as a standalone in case you can't get a hold on the first book first. 😉 I recommend the audiobook, too. 💖Irish accent. 3mo

This might just be my favorite book of the year. ❤️ The friendship between Andrew and Molly is so real and hilarious and fun to read ~ their relationship is one built on honest feelings and truly knowing one another. I loved every minute of it. I would love to see this made into a Hallmark movie. 🥰 #romance #greatromance #christmasromance

Super cute and enjoyable Christmas romance. I'm trying to enjoy more light-hearted holiday reads this month to help get more in the spirit of Christmas. This was exactly what I hoped it would be. I liked the characters and the humor.

This book was adorable. Perfect for a Hallmark movie. Best holiday rom com I read this year. And I would even read if I was stuck at the airport for four days like so many people are currently. It made me laugh out loud several times, but also gave me the warm fuzzies.

I am so happy that I got to finish one more book this year. Don‘t be turned away by the bland title. This was a very cute story. The audiobook narrator was a little monotone at times, almost like Siri, but I still recommend this—it would make a great Netflix movie.

I loved Andrew and Molly‘s story. The way each past flight was woven throughout the book. The adorable and mishap filled adventure to return home for the holidays and be with family. It was such a lovely friends to lovers romance, and I‘d really like to see a second book that continues the tale.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is a sweet and fun friends-to-lovers holiday romance! For ten years, Molly and Andrew have sat next to each other on their flight home to Ireland from Chicago for Christmas. This year, all flights are cancelled due to a huge snowstorm, so they set off on an adventure to get back to their families by Christmas, and of course, chaos (and romance) ensue! 🎧

Really cute! Two Irish expats living in Chicago meet up once a year for a flight home to Ireland for Christmas. On the 10th anniversary of their travel tradition, everything goes wrong…except for the one thing that goes right.
