I can‘t even handle how beautiful these edges are!
I can‘t even handle how beautiful these edges are!
These are my reading goals for September. I want to try and read mostly from my shelves until the end of the year. And catch up on books that have their sequels coming soon. #readinggoals #readyourshelves #readyourtbr
My emotions are still high on this one. The angst was killing me. The burn was slow and by the end it's still burning. I need resolution, but I was left hanging. Do I want to read the next one? Obviously YES!

#AboutABook Day 24: I thought this has a #StunningCover especially with all the special editions. Absolutely gorgeous.
First time leaving my house since picking up my cat after her dental surgery and last time before my colonoscopy on Tuesday. Enjoying food before I have to go on a liquid diet!
Characters were underdeveloped, there were secondary characters that were names only. Main characters didn't feel really unique.
I loved the world & magic in it. And I also adored the beginning of the book. But then something happened at 50 % and there were nothing else than long & dragging marriage negotitations.
This was predictable story, I enjoyed scenery but plotwise this didn't offer that much.

#NewYearNewBooks Day 25: I am expecting a romantic #GreatPlotTwist in this romantasy which I suppose is also to be expected. Lols.
#NewYearNewBooks Day 21: #InvolvesExtremeWeather indeed. The ube cream liqueur which we brought back from Manila is 👌🏽Deserving of all the liqueur awards indeed. Truly nothing like it.
#NewYearNewBooks Day 20: #SetInYrFaveSeason - sort of - because it never rains here in the UAE, we are hungry for rains - not really hurricanes but in the family thereof lols. Paired with this smoky super refreshing (and complimentary) lemon mint drink from our fave Indian restaurant here in Al Ain.
#NewYearNewBooks Day 15: #Grandparents reminded me of a Queen Grandmama in this story - haven‘t “met” her yet, but she is constantly alluded to, so will read further to know more. Liking this one so far, although the world building can take its toll. The powers of the protagonists remind me of Alina and Darkling in Shadow and Bone, though.
#NewYearNewBooks Day 3: #MoonCover - err sort of. But isn‘t this cover just absolutely gorgeous? My edition isn‘t as foine as this one, sadly. Bought two more copies of this book to give out to family members and friends this Christmas.
Christmas Eve gifts from the family. I can‘t wait to read this one. If you‘re a fantasy map junkie, the map inside this one is fantastic.
I enjoyed the plot and the fantasy world (great detail, exciting potential story lines); however, I found both Talasyn and Alaric underdeveloped and two-dimensional. Both needed more fleshing out in order to not be so flat and boring. They also felt a long younger than their actual ages.

I struggled with this one at first as I learned the new vocabulary and intricacies of the new world in this fantasy book. Once I got into it, I did enjoy the enemies to lovers trope of the romance component and the complexities of the positions they both found themselves in. At some point I will remember to hold off reading a series until all of the books have been released, so fair warning. Thanks to Edelweiss+ for the ARC. 3.5/5
Guanzon has set up a fantasy world which is easy to step into and get lost in. Her writing style allows you to flit between the equally confused feelings of Talasyn and Alaric whilst tiptoeing through court politics and fragile alliances. An enjoyable read, I will be looking out for the next book in the series.

October's FairyLoot is here and it is absolutely gorgeous from cover to sprayed edges. The only thing I know about this book is there is a lot if hype for it right now.
This one takes a while to get going—-there‘s some world building & terminology to get through—but once it does, this enemies to lovers fantasy is quite entertaining as practitioners of shadow & light magic must find a way to put aside their considerable differences, if they can, in the face of an even greater threat. Interesting world & magic system, plenty of angst, loads of secrets. First in a planned trilogy, I‘ll definitely keep reading.
Started this one Friday and so far it‘s very entertaining. Some terminology/world building to get through in the first few chapters but it has me turning the pages…
Today‘s #Bookmail features a little for work (on the left) and a little for fun (on the right). I‘m excited to read all of them!
First in a Southeast Asian-inspired romantic fantasy trilogy, this debut was such fun to read and kept my attention riveted through the entire book. This story revolves around a long-standing civil war between the ruthless Night Emperor with their shadow magic and basically everyone else in their sphere. Talasyn is a young, orphaned resistance fighter who has known nothing but hardship and war for much of her life and has made her military ⬇️
#BookBinge Day 29: This Waterstones #SpecialEdition of this book written by a Filipina author is absolutely gorgeous. Naturally, I pre-ordered a copy.
