Took advantage of the 50% off sale online at Barnes & Noble. Pretty much just buying books with my Christmas money!
OK, let‘s see how I do this month with my #BookSpinBingo. A lot of these books are the same ones from last month since I had only read five of my TBR in October. I am reading multiple other books this month in order to try to reach my reading goal, though they‘re super short.
I love Brom's books and the audiobook of this one is especially fantastic. Ruby, who cannot keep herself out of trouble gets enchanted into putting on an evil ring. After that she has to join with a Shade, her best friend and a demon to form a punk band in a "music is magic" scenario to try to get the ring off before an evil ancient god rises ?

Book 83📚 3.9⭐️
Ruby has the devil in her and only true magic can save her soul!🎸
Definitely an entertaining read. Characters were a lot of fun and I look forward to more Brom books!! I really need to read Slewfoot😂
The art work was awesome and literally gave faces to the wild being described in the book!👹
When I saw there was a new novel Brom in the world I jumped at the chance to immerse myself in another of his stories, and Evil in Me did not disappoint. I enjoyed the characters, the events, and especially the music. Not only did Shahjehan Khan and Stephanie Németh-Parker do an amazing job telling the story, the fact that music by The Maxines was included was simply epic. Not only did I like the song, but I loved how it brought people together.
🎃🎃🎃 demons, serial killers, possession, cursed objects, good characters, 1980s and Punk rock !!! Oh my!!
Lots of stuff going on, felt a little YA in parts, not all. I enjoy Broms artwork and storytelling . This wasn‘t his strongest book but just reading about Beel is worth it♥️
Did you know BROM released a new book last month? HE DID! 😆 To say I was excited is an understatement. So, of course, I was a Barnes & Nobles the day it released. The good thing, I got my hand on the last copy. The bad thing, even though I went with Supervision, I bought way more than I should‘ve. Several that are on this list… Lol. anyways, got a good mix of horror, dark fantasy, and a few extras in between. Happy October! 👻🎃 #BookSpinBingo
This is my 200th ARC to be reviewed!
My 3rd BROM & won‘t be my last! Love his writing style!
There are some significant trigger warnings so be prepared. It‘s horror.
A lot less music related than I thought (shows up in the last 30%).Suggest Audio!
Ruby is 24 & has behavioral issues. She‘s split from her punk band & BFF. She‘s angry bordering on homicidal. She‘s treated unfairly.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️3/4 👇🏻
For #weeklyfavorites, I‘m sharing 2 Netgalley ARCs I read that were published on Sept 17.
Evil In Me - A book with demonic possession and rock-n-roll. The audiobook is the best way to read this because it has music in it. My first book by Brom. I loved it.
The Money Trap - A memoir by a Morgan Stanley banker about finance and tech. I just finished this one last night. I was late reviewing this one. This wasn‘t dry or boring which surprised me.
Thank you Macmillan Audio for sending me an audio ARC of this book! I enjoyed this book. I liked everything about this book and I liked that this book has a music element to it. I thought that was really fun getting to hear what the song was supposed to sound like. This was my first book by Brom but it won‘t be my last.
On Sale: 9/17/24

I usually read 1 book at a time but right now, I‘m currently reading the short stories each week from Sherlock Holmes for the #noplacelikeholmes readalong and I‘m reading Evil In Me by Brom which is a Netgalley ARC being published on Sept 17 but I‘m almost finished with it.
#sundayfunday
I‘m almost finished with this Netgalley ARC. It‘s being published on Sept 17 but I‘ll be able to get finished with this book before then. I‘m enjoying this book. I also have 2 more Netgalley ARCs being published on Sept 17: The Money Trap and I Dreamed Of Falling. After I finish my current read, I can start The Money Trap but I probably won‘t finish it by the 17th. I probably won‘t start I Dreamed Of Falling this week.
I was having a hard time sleeping today so I decided to start listening to this book. I listened to the first two chapters and it‘s really good. This is one of my Netgalley ARCs that‘s being released on Sept 17. This is my first book by Brom. I just found out that he‘s the same author who wrote Slewfoot. I haven‘t read Slewfoot but I‘ve seen people online talking about it.
I‘m a big fan of Brom‘s & his latest makes for a fantastic listen! Set mainly in 1985, Ruby lives for the “devil music” that is wildly unpopular in Enterprise, AL. When she encounters a ring that sings, her whole world changes— and the only way to get her life back is to reunite with her best friend & band mate & get the evil out of her. With music & magic & some gore, this is an addictive listen— including an original song in the audiobook!
Evil In Me by Brom is a tale centering on a young woman whose life is a whirlwind of misdirection and turmoil. As Ruby struggles to find her footing and navigate a path that seems perpetually unstable, this tale explores the darker sides of human nature when mixed with the supernatural.

I received a free arc from NetGalley and the publisher.
I give this 3.5 stars. I absolutely loved this book up until Ruby got possessed. After that the story felt a bit meh, until the finale. The finale was good. Ruby was pretty annoying. I didn‘t like her attitude. Luckily she found some emotional healing at the end. After all the events I wonder if she will be able to have any sort of normal life.
