Big clues come in small packages as Miracle Books owner Nora Pennington and the Secret, Book, and Scone Society attempt to solve a series of murders connected to a bibliophiles missing books in the latest cozy mystery from New York Times bestselling author Ellery Adams . . . When an elderly Miracle Springs resident, Lucille Wynter, arranges for Nora to deliver an order of books to her creepy, crumbling Southern Gothic mansion on the outskirts of town, Nora doesnt expect to be invited in. An agoraphobe, Lucille doesnt leave Wynter House. But when Lucille doesnt come to the door to collect her books, Nora begins to worry. Forcing her way into Lucilles dilapidated home, Nora is shocked to find rooms bursting with books and a lifeless Lucille at the foot of her stairs. After reading a note left behind by Lucille, Nora wonders if her death was an accident. Did she fall or was she pushed by someone seeking a valuable item hidden within Wynter House? Lucilles children are clearly confident the house contains something of value, because they hire Nora to sift through the piles of books. Reggie Soooooo I listened to this Books in the Freezer podcast where this librarian was on talking about the horror books that shaped her. At the end she talked about what people could do to help their libraries and one was go to their library council meetings and just say thanks. That was on Tuesday. I looked up the one for Albuquerque and theirs was last night. So I went and talked about all the ways I loved the library. It was very nice. 5d

There is so much I like and enjoy about this series: the characters, the mystery, the books.

But Nora does so many really stupid things, I just want to scream at her.

So: glad I borrowed it from the library.

#ReadAway2024 #SeriesLove2024

Finished this one earlier in the week. # 7 in The Secret, Scone & Book Society series, it‘s a medium pick for me. I liked the mystery of Nora trying to find clues to find a miniature library in a crumbling house owned by a hoarding customer—sad & intriguing, but especially in the first half of the book, I was unhappy with Nora‘s actions & lack of communication with her friends & especially her partner. Eventually, ⬇️

DebinHawaii … she worked it out (although I‘d have been angrier with her if I was Sheriff Grant) & I was satisfied with the rest of the book. I like the friendships & bibliotherapy in this series & will keep reading it. 10mo

It‘s been a couple of weeks since I‘ve hung out at the coffee shop on a Saturday morning & it feels good to feel well enough to be back.💛

This morning I‘m reading the tagged book a bit, hopefully writing some #LitsyLove responses & I just tabulated my #HauntedShelf numbers for Team #Flerken. I thought I missed it.🤦🏻‍♀️Not a great showing for my final 2 weeks & I still need to do book reviews, but given illness & work pressures, I‘ll take it.

I love this series and this one was one of the best ones in the series. The strong, loving friendship of the four main women characters, the supporting characters, the bookstore, yummy treats to enjoy with coffee, the authors and books mentioned all add to the story.

Lucille dies mysteriously and leaves Nora clues to solve. This story gets more detailed along with Lucille‘s children into the world of books and literature.
