4 Stars • "Before We Forget Kindness" by Toshikazu Kawaguchi is the fifth book in the "Before the Coffee Gets Cold" series. It features a mysterious café in Tokyo called Funiculi Funicula where customers can travel back in time under strict conditions. Focusing on themes of regret, forgiveness, and human connection the narrative follows four new characters:

I didn‘t do any walking today — just relaxed and read these two short but very different books. This 5th book in the Before the Coffee Gets Cold series may be my favorite; the stories were very touching. I also liked The Bookstore Wedding, which is the second, after The Bookstore Sisters, in an Alice Hoffman series of shorts. Missy has the cone of shame on because of a wound she won‘t stop scratching; she‘s not happy.
I‘ve read the first in this series and this is the latest to be translated. A coffee shop where you can go back and forward in time. However there are rules. I love the little stories and the life lessons within each story. Just short enough to not be monotonous. A lovely Xmas present . These books would make lovely gifts.
It seems to me these collections of short stories in the time travelling café sum up very well the spirit of Christmas - love, kindness and forgiveness.
Happy Holidays everyone! 🎄🎁❄️✨️
Similar to previous books in this series - bittersweet and sad.
