So I‘ve decided to keep a better track of the series that I‘m currently reading, so I can then attempt to complete the series. However, I didn‘t realize how many I was in the middle of. And I say that knowing that not all of them are on this list. This may take a lot more time than I thought, but at least I‘m starting now.

Roary47 I feel you on how many series I have started. I have way more than I want to think about. 7d

I love this title and just can‘t quit this series. My interest here was in the characters with problematic situations looking inward to consider who they were and what they could have / should have done to make a situation better. My favorite story here was that of the estranged father and daughter.

The fifth, and (so far?) final instalment of the Before The Coffee Gets Cold series is as delightful as the rest of the series. Criticism that there is a lot of repetition is a little justified, but it doesn‘t detract from the charm of the series. Reading this series always gladdens my heart.

4 Stars • "Before We Forget Kindness" by Toshikazu Kawaguchi is the fifth book in the "Before the Coffee Gets Cold" series. It features a mysterious café in Tokyo called Funiculi Funicula where customers can travel back in time under strict conditions. Focusing on themes of regret, forgiveness, and human connection the narrative follows four new characters:
⬇️

suvata • A father who opposed his daughter's marriage
• A woman unable to give Valentine's Day chocolates
• A boy wanting to smile for his divorced parents
• A wife with a child who needs a name

These stories are heartwarming and emotional emphasizing the series' signature blend of magical realism with poignant life lessons.

I didn‘t do any walking today — just relaxed and read these two short but very different books. This 5th book in the Before the Coffee Gets Cold series may be my favorite; the stories were very touching. I also liked The Bookstore Wedding, which is the second, after The Bookstore Sisters, in an Alice Hoffman series of shorts. Missy has the cone of shame on because of a wound she won‘t stop scratching; she‘s not happy.

TheBookHippie Poor pup. 8mo
Ruthiella Poor Missy! ❤️🐶 8mo
KathyWheeler @TheBookHippie @Ruthiella I know! She looks so pitiful — like she‘s thinking, “How could you do this to me?” 8mo

I‘ve read the first in this series and this is the latest to be translated. A coffee shop where you can go back and forward in time. However there are rules. I love the little stories and the life lessons within each story. Just short enough to not be monotonous. A lovely Xmas present . These books would make lovely gifts.

Jeg Just read my review of the first book and it seems I bailed and I wasn‘t too kind. This one did touch me. Right time and place?.. 8mo
CatLass007 One of my cousins and I have been doing a buddy read of this series. We‘ve discussed the first three books. Hopefully we‘ll get to the fourth and fifth books in 2025. 8mo
Suet624 Haha. Your response to the first book made me laugh. I wonder if you want to try it again as an experiment. (edited) 8mo

It seems to me these collections of short stories in the time travelling café sum up very well the spirit of Christmas - love, kindness and forgiveness.

Similar to previous books in this series - bittersweet and sad.

tpixie I don‘t have this newest one, but I have the first four. I‘m hoping to read them early in 2025. 9mo
ju.ca.no They are all very sweet - still need to read the latest one though! 9mo
monkeygirlsmama I've read all the previous ones from the library, but haven't gotten around to requesting this one yet. 9mo
