This has a completely far-fetched premise and a fairly predictable plot, but it was charming nonetheless—a quick read and a nice change of pace in the middle of a lot of heavier, longer, more drawn-out books on my list lately!

A light and quirky read! After a break up, an author heads to the hills of Tuscany to finish his book on the region‘s food and wine. When he gets to Italy, his rental car isn‘t there, and that kicks off the comedy of errors. He does indeed, drive a bulldozer across Tuscany, and meets a cast of charming characters.

#pop24 - book set in a travel destination on my bucket list
A funny light read about a food writer who goes to Italy and the comedy of errors that ensue.
This is a light pick for me. It was a fast read and enjoyable, but not as good for me as AMS‘s Mma Romatswe books.
Yes he does end up having to rent a bulldozer to drive across Tuscany because there is a mishap with his car rental.
The great February book haul: because Italy. Need I say more?
I‘ve been bad about posting lately. But i have been reading quite a bit. Fun palate-cleanser. Author heads to Italy after a break-up to finish his book about Tuscan wine and cuisine, and hi-jinx including a bulldozer ensue. This was a nice light read and the descriptions of the food and wine made me long for carefree days of travel. #wineorwhine #booked2020
I am looking for comfort reads right now so Alexander McCall Smith generally meets that criteria!
Started listening to this book in a new series by Alexander McCall Smith. Not sure what to expect but he does write some excellent books.
I found this on a cozy-mystery-recommendations-list. I have read The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency by McCall Smith, so I gave it a go without further research. I read page after page, waiting for the mystery to happen. And then the book was over. I cannot say, I did not enjoy it, it was just that I expected something completely different.
I have stacked my e-reader for the next month and it makes me SO EXCITED! #yaybooks
What a sweet read! There is such a sense of place and people in this book. Like other books of AMS, this one is gentle. Recommended.
I love anything by this author. Starting this via Libby. @Joanne1 ‘s post brought this to my attention.
A tour of Tuscany in the only rental available, a huge yellow bulldozer! This is a light, funny audio perfect for very early morning commutes when the brain is still warming up for the day.
Enjoying this one while Esme relaxes on my lap.
Delightfully charming. And now I want to travel to Tuscany.
My book club met for wine and painting following the reading of our current book. We painted a Tuscan scene from our story. Such a fun group of readers! P.S. this was my first time and painting is way harder than it looks 😂 #paintandsip #bookclub
This book is so sweet. When Paul flies to Italy to finish his regional food and wine book, things don't go exactly as planned. The only vehicle he can find to rent is a bulldozer. Astride this massive vehicle, Paul learns to roll with the punches, enjoy the journey, and follow his heart. Alexander McCall Smith's vivid descriptions make me want to drop everything and travel to this remote village.
Made a stop at the library on the way home. New (to me) authors, plus continuing Blue Exorcist (and I even got the right number this time!!!!) Time to settle down with a cup of hot chocolate and dig in!
Delightful as all Alexander McCall Smith‘s books are - this one set in Montalcino where writer Paul Stewart goes after his girlfriend leaves him for her personal trainer. The usual delightful assortment of eccentric but loveable characters and the Italian countryside, food and wine- a lovely 6 hour listen in the car!
That is why the artist will always be happy - no matter how the world treats him. If he knows that what he creates is good, then he can bear the indifference of others.
Doppio and book for this Monday morning... (Should try to squeeze that bike ride as desired)
I read everything this man writes.
His books bring joy and humour into my life. The stories may sometimes be frothy and tinged with absurdity (which I LOVE), but they are always real and human and kind.
I preceded this book with The Yellow Wallpaper and The Road so I was in need of some Italian sunshine.
And I added the typewriter because Yellow.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (because it made me happy)

My son and I shared croissants today. He did his homework. I dreamt of Italy. The cafe unknowingly colour coordinated their plates with my book. 🙂
Was going to wait and read this closer to its pub date but it just kept calling to me. And yes, for the eagle-eyed, this is a very old globe. My grandfather made the beautiful stand it's in and I inherited it from him.
#DauntBooks is on my must-visit bookshop list when in London. The book selection and amazing interior makes it super hard to leave without at least 3 books and a new canvas bag! #getindie
