Agatha Raisin and the Walkers of Dembley. M.C. Beaton
Agatha Raisin and the Walkers of Dembley. M.C. Beaton | M C Beaton
5 posts | 27 read | 3 to read
When the kind, shy baronet Sir Charles Fraith receives a letter from Jessica Tartinck, president of the Dembley Walkers Association, his tranquil life is thrown into chaos. Feisty and determined, Ms. Tartinck, as part of her campaign against landowners over the use of public footpaths, has chosen the naive baronet for her latest attack. Although Sir Charles suggests a reasonable offer to counter her outrageous demands, Jessica chooses to ignore him. Jessica's protest march turns into a death march when she ends up murdered in Sir Charles's field. Wooed by the chance to mix with the landed gentry, Agatha is only too willing to try to help clear Sir Charles's name, especially since it means playing the "wife" of her attractive and elusive neighbor James Lacey. As the sometimes pushy, sometimes endearing heroine of M. C. Beaton's Cotswold mystery series once again joins forces with James to solve a murder and attempt to capture the gold ring, Agatha Raisin continues to build her reputation as a thoroughly modern Miss Marple.

I‘m still enjoying the Agatha Raisin series but boy did she make the most ridiculous life choice at the end of this book! I don‘t want to spoil it, but I don‘t believe a successful, smart woman would be that silly. I listened to the audiobook and I love the narrator! #CozyintheSun

Librarybelle I seem to recall the life choice from when I read this one years ago...yeah, definitely silly! 6mo
ferskner Ughhhh it drives me nuts when characters make dumb decisions! 6mo

I finished book three and jumped right to book 4. The narrator has the best snooty voice for Agatha! #CozyintheSun

There's a lot of anger and turmoil over a group of people ramblers that claim the countryside as their own, but when a murder happens, there are many suspicions as to whether the land owner was behind it...

Another brilliant read! ☺

Knitting class at the library was unexpectedly cancelled yesterday. So, I took to YouTube to learn some additional beginner stitches, and decided to move on from just practice swatches. Currently knitting my very first project- a dishcloth- while Agatha Raisin keeps me company! 😊

Samplergal It looks wonderful. When I was knitting, I made them for the homeless. Put them in a big ziplock with soap, water, toothpaste, toothbrush and some granola bars. This reminds me I should start to knit these again. 2y
Kaye Very pretty. What‘s the stitch called ? 2y
Dana1084 @Samplergal Thanks! That‘s a wonderful idea- today I saw a donation box in AC Moore for knitted items and was thinking that would be fun to do. 2y

Dana1084 @Kaye Thank you! The blogger didn‘t say the name, but it‘s: knit 2, purl 2 for Rows 1 &2. purl 2, knit 2 for Rows 3&4. Repeat that through row 40, then knit 2, purl 2 for Rows 41 & 42. purl 2, knit 2 for row 43 and bind off in purl 2, knit 2. (edited) 2y
