#5thingsilove about living in Chicago:

1. Lake Michigan. It's like living near the ocean but you're in the middle of the Midwest.
2. Cubbie Love!! #gocubbies #worldserieswinners #W
3. Food...you want it, we got it!
4. The neighborhoods...so much interesting history, so many different people.
5. OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Debiw781 One of my friends is from Chicago and loves it 😊. One day... 7y
Mimi28 You're right it's great here! I miss the crisp air and snow of the winter right now. Heck I even miss the wind! My brain feels like it's frying this summer. 7y
AlaMich @Mimi28 I have to respectfully disagree with you on the "missing snow" thing. If it came and went in a month, it'd be great. But Lordy it does drag on and on... 7y

Mimi28 Lol, sorry. I must admit I don't drive or travel much. I only walk to the store and to the library. I guess if I got out more I wouldn't like it much either. 7y
saresmoore Chicago is such a cool city! 7y
AlaMich @saresmoore It is! Sadly, though, some people think it is flyover country. 7y
Gezemice We live in Central Illinois and drive up on occasion. We love the lake, the museums, the food, the ridiculous amount of things to do. And it is plain impressive. Chicago is great to visit - but I wouldn't want to live there. Too big, too busy, too noisy, too much traffic. Too hard to get to work, too expensive... 7y
Centique Was just scrolling through your posts and seeing that you live in Chicago but loved visiting New Zealand - while I live in NZ and Chicago is my favourite city! How cool is that? I've only been to Chicago in the summer though - love the lake and the museums so much! 7y
AlaMich @Centique OMG, I would LOVE to go back to NZ! I spent two weeks doing the Kiwi Experience by myself 25 years ago...gah. So incredibly beautiful. Where do you live? 7y
Centique @AlaMich I live in Auckland on the north shore - which is a smaller part that has lots of beaches. If you ever come back come and visit! We mostly stayed in the middle of the city when we visited Chicago but we went to Schaumburg and Gurnee. Anywhere near you? Did that Chicago Architecture River Cruise - loved it! 7y
AlaMich @Centique Yes, the cruise is great! I live in Evanston, on the northern border of Chicago. Our Kiwi bus left from Auckland but I don't remember much. I'd love to come visit you; same goes in reverse! 😊 7y
Centique Thank you @AlaMich 😊💕 7y

#5thingsilove about living in Seattle:
1. Seattle Art Museum where I got to see the Yayoi Kusama Infinity Mirrors exhibit (picture)
2. The food scene here is so amazing
3. Getting mountian AND water views and glimpses of whales and orcas every now and then 1 mile from my house
4. How laid back everything is here
5. Being driving distance from Portland and Vancouver and Washington's wine country

@Debiw781

CocoReads My husband was stationed at Bangor Sub Base when we were first married. My girls were born at Bremerton Naval Hospital. We only lived there a couple years, and that was 20+ years ago, but I still miss Washington. 7y
Debiw781 Oh the exhibit sounds beautiful!! Thank you for sharing that 😊 7y

#5thingsIlove about Portland, OR

1. The sunsets and sunrises are spectacular!
2. Only five minutes and I'm in nature.
3. Almost every neighborhood has its own little downtown area with cute shops.
4. So much craft beer, everywhere.
5. Doggos. Everyone has doggos and takes them to all the places!

@Debiw781

Debiw781 Sounds like a place I need to visit one day! Love cute shops! 7y
LauraBeth This all sounds nice! 7y
WarpedSweetness I can't wait to visit Portland. We had hoped to visit this summer, but weren't able to. :-( 7y

GondorGirl Apparently I need to move to Portland. Doggos everywhere. They should hire you to do tourism advertisements! 🐶❤🐶 7y
night_shift @Debiw781 visit, but don't stay 😉 @LauraBeth it is! We're going berry picking today! @WarpedSweetness it's a good thing you didn't! This summer was record heat.. really sucks :( @GondorGirl 😂😂 thanks! But nobody else needs to move here! Lol 7y
Debiw781 @UnidragonFrag 😂😂 that's our running joke here in Florida too 7y
WarpedSweetness @UnidragonFrag Ugh, heat sucks. Is there humidity with your heat? 7y
night_shift @Debiw781 haha! I've only been to Florida once, at like seven yrs-old? @WarpedSweetness it's usually not hot here at all, but no. No humidity! 7y
WarpedSweetness @UnidragonFrag I can somewhat deal with the heat if there is no humidity! After living in humid areas for so long, I hate it. A lot of areas are getting those record breaking temperatures unfortunately. :-( 7y
night_shift @WarpedSweetness true, but it's the first time it's gotten that hot here since like the 70s apparently? Yeah, I loathe humidity. Grew up in Texas.. summer was like constantly shuffling through hot butter. Disgusting. 7y

#5thingsilove 🇨🇳 China/HK Edition 🇭🇰

1. Food. Like anywhere, there's good food & bad food, but there's lots of good food. 🤤
2. Trains. They're a fun & easy way to get around. 🚈
3. Cow Island. I don't remember the real name, Cow Island is just what we call it. Anyhow, it's a small, remote island where you can hike, swim, picnic, & meet wild cows. It's the best! 🐮
4. Fresh produce. Lots and usually at decent prices. 🍍🍠
5. Milk tea. 😋

Debiw781 Mmmm good food! 😊 Cow Island sounds pretty neat too! 7y
Sace Mmmm. That food looks delicious! 7y
monkeygirlsmama @RestlessFickleBookSlut It was! Too bad I didn't make any of it, haha. It's from a school dinner we had last semester. Fried shrimp, bok choy, frilly mushrooms with some kind of crunchy squash type veggie, and chicken with potatoes in a yummy sauce. Oh, and rice with spicy pepper sauce. 7y
LauraBeth Food! 🙌🙌 7y
kspenmoll My family loves trains! Wish we had more subways in US cities! 7y

ATLANTA
1. It's cultural - the art, music and theater scenes are all 👏👏
2. It feels like a small town and the people are genuinely friendly
3. It has progressive and liberal values and celebrates the LGBTQ community
4. I grew up here, left after college, but came back to raise a family here - that says it all
5. If you love to run or hike - there are tons of wooded trails outside your door and lots of people who will join you #5thingsilove

Magpiegem Until recently I flew for BA and for a while Atlanta was my second home. I tried to get ATL whenever I could. I just love it there. You are right wonderful people, wonderful place ❤️ even though no one could ever pronounce my name 😄 7y
RiotMom The majority of my family is from Atlanta and surrounding areas. I've spent so much time there that it feels like second home. ❤️ 7y
Debiw781 I love Atlanta! There's always something to do there 😊 7y

LauraBeth @Magpiegem 😂😂 I believe that! Although what's weird is that the husband is a Jorge and when we lived in NYC everyone pronounced it the English way but everyone in Atlanta pronounces it the Spanish way 🤔 7y
LauraBeth @RiotMom that's nice to have family here because then you can always visit 😀 7y
LauraBeth @Debiw781 very true 😀 7y
Kappadeemom I ❤️❤️❤️ ATL!! 7y
Reggie I went there in 2013 to go see Jill Scott in Chastain Park. I loved it. I had chicken and waffles, got hooked on sweet tea, went to the aquarium. It was a nice city. I had a great time. 7y
kissxxmyxxconverse My mom and I took a trip there a few weeks ago and we both loved it! I loved Fox Theater and the Center for Civil and Human Rights. Not to mention, we happened upon the bookstore Charis 📚🙌🏻 7y

1. Saguaro cacti. Actually they naturally grow a few miles away, but it's really the only place on earth to find them.
2. If you want snow, drive 2 hours. Stay home and no snow.
3. Mountains.
4. Deserts.
5. Tucson Festival of Books. 😜

PS: For more local love, check out #whyilovewhereilive out on Instagram for their coverage around Tucson. I'm up north near Phoenix.

Debiw781 My nieces wish we had snow closer lol 7y
saguarosally @Debiw781 Snow big deal. 😜 7y
Debiw781 We were snowbound once in the mountains of NC and that cured me of snow 😂. My nieces have never seen it though. 7y

Betty @saguarosally our puppy was born in Phoenix. We drove to Oklahoma City to get him. His litter mate went to Minnesota. So OKC was the mid-point for all 3 of us to meet. 7y
CotziasReads @saguarosally beautiful. Headed home to Tucson in 2 weeks to visit family, have an Eegee's Teagee and browse through Bookman's. I miss Arizona sunsets. From a Arizonian in Virginia. 7y
ferskner Awww home! 7y
monkeygirlsmama I hear Saguaro and think of Stargirl. 7y
saguarosally @Betty Right on, was it in the summer? 7y
saguarosally @TamCotzias Have fun! Get some Tucson Tamale for me too. 7y
saguarosally @ferskner Where are you now? 7y
saguarosally @monkeygirlsmama Dare I ask what Stargirl is? 7y
ferskner South Carolina. I'm from Tempe originally. 7y
Betty @saguarosally we got him this month, so yes in the summer 7y
monkeygirlsmama Hit submit too soon. Whoops. In the book Stargirl, Senor Seguaro is an old cactus 🌵 in Archie's backyard. He's supposed to be wise and the characters go to him for advice. LoL 7y

LauraBeth I love Florida for every reason you mentioned! 7y
saguarosally This reminds me of the #whyilovewhereilive tag/movement mostly on Instagram, but it's centered around Tucson and I don't live there. 🙁Let me think of a few for up here. 😎 7y

Debiw781 @LauraBeth and @RestlessFickleBookSlut I love visiting the mountains but for daily living, Florida has s nice bend of the urban and the natural. 7y
