Again, not my usual genre for our #AccidentalBookClub, but I really enjoyed this quick read. I predicted parts of it, but it was an enjoyable page-turner that was better written than #TheSilentPatient, our last #BOTM club pick. #Recommend

3.5🌟 I wasn‘t a huge fan of the transition between part 1 and part 2. It seemed a lot abrupt to me, and quite frankly it got me a bit lost of a bit. It took me a while to get back into the rhythm of the book. I did enjoy the ending, though. It seemed to drag a bit in a few places, but that could have been the narration as well. It was a nice little escape for my Saturday, though.

If nothing else, Fredrick Davidson, the guy who reads this, does women‘s voices so well. He actually sounds like a woman when he does his women‘s voice. It‘s very well read.

I'm sure the tagged book does not have #ARoomWithAView, it's been on my #MountTBR for ages. 🙈
The series on the right is very fluffy. There might be a few #LipstickLies in them.
Anyway, the #LipstickLies I tell myself when I buy yet another new one in a colour shade that I already have several lipsticks in at home,... 🙈🙈🙈😜😉😵

This is where the books are stored, downstairs in the part of the basement that‘s finished. There on the ledge is the #PnPCovers collection, with the Jane Austen book shelf to the left, and in the mirror you can make out the other shelves, which host the pirate and nautical books!
When I finished reading the book, I lay back and basked in its beauty and glory for a while. I had to catch my breath.

Page 204, I stop and reflect on what makes this work ultimately so stirring and profound. It is just a story. Why should it command such high regard? I play the devil's advocate against myself. But the minute I ask the question, my mind answers,
“It speaks the Truth, that is why.”
And I read on, and soon Mr. Emerson says, "Yes, for we fight for more than Love or Pleasure: there is Truth. Truth counts, Truth does count."

E.M. Forster published this masterpiece in 1908–110 years ago! Enlightened thinking is trying to emerge in the society he describes. The author himself is wonderfully modern and enlightened. And why should that surprise me when Homer is so palpable across the ages?
