#TLT #ThreeListThursday

This retired English teacher's score sucked! 😂 Though the 17 books I did read were not from childhood but from my years teaching middle school. My 3 choices are for the following reasons:
JOHNNY TREMAIN: #love
OUT OF THE DUST: #lovetoinfinity--in my top 5 list of fave books of all time!
CHARLOTTE'S WEB: Only an Honor winner? #wtf?

Here's the link if you haven't played yet: https://shorturl.at/kosig

Texreader I only read 3 4d
dabbe @Texreader If I hadn't taught middle school, I would have read 0! You're in good company; most of us scored less than 20. 😂 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🖤🩶 4d
Texreader @dabbe I do have some on my bookshelves I hope to read someday. 4d

Texreader @dabbe What subject did you teach? 4d
dabbe @Texreader English! So you'd think I would have read more of these! I mostly taught high school, though, so zero Newbery winners for that age group! 🤩😂😘🤩 4d
dabbe @curiouserandcurioser Ya kicked my retired-English-teacher butt! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🖤🩶 4d
dabbe @Texreader Same here. Plus I want to reread JOHNNY TREMAIN again. I have my original teacher copy with all of my notes in it--same for OUT OF THE DUST. 4d
curiouserandcurioser It was fun to play:) 4d
dabbe @curiouserandcurioser Yay! I love taking polls! 🤩😂🤗 4d
DogMomIrene I got 17 too😂 A mix from my childhood & teaching years. That committee, though. Sometimes they pick books that may be all fancy pants literary, but good luck enticing a child to read it. 1d

This book is a bit of a mess. I have no idea why I bought it in the first place but that was in 2008 so a few years ago 😀

It is about grief and the First World War and quantum physica and animal sex and traveling in Latin America. Well, it fits the #SomePlaceCold prompt for #FictionalTraveler2025!

LeahBergen 😆😆 I have books on my shelf like that, too! 5d
sarahbarnes I also have books like that I bought years ago and never read, and then I don‘t enjoy them much when I finally do. 😆 4d
julieclair I must admit I‘m intrigued as to how all those topics fit into one book… 🤔 3d

Good parallel account of the meeting of Rumi with Shams, a Sufi, which made him become a poet, and a modern day woman trying to make sense of her loveless marriage, who also meets a modern Sufi. I learned about Sufism and can see its attraction and the need for love, but I am not as enthralled with it as others might be. Still it is good. I began following Shafak.

Ruthiella I liked the historical half of this book but not the modern narrative. 6d
KCofKaysville @Ruthiella I agree with that! 6d

⭐️⭐️unpopular opinion coming. I thought this book was poorly written, too many abrupt jumps. I didn‘t care for any of the characters and wanted to feel something g emotional connection but could not. I think I‘d rather read about the true woman this happened to, Eva Panic Nahir.

5/5 🌟

Beautiful. Funny. Raw. Honest. Primal. Angry. Moving. This book evoked a whirlwind of emotions. It's a powerful and candid account of a first-time mum's journey, exploring her immense love for her child alongside the struggles of motherhood and the loss of self that often accompanies it.

It doesn't sugarcoat the realities of being a parent, and for that, it feels deeply relatable. An amazing book!

I am reading the unputdownable The Wedding People. Super curious to find out where the story goes. Next will be the oldest book on my tbr (the tagged one) for #FictionalTraveler. Maybe there‘s time for another Banana Yoshimoto as well 🤞🏽

Melismatic The Wedding People was just chosen for my next in person book club. Glad to hear you‘re enjoying it! 1w
BarbaraBB @Melismatic It seems like everyone is reading it at the moment! Enjoy! 1w

A beautiful book of thirty daily short readings to help you reflect, re-examine and possibly rebuild close relationships in your life. Contemplative with a tie to Christian faith, this had nuggets of wisdom sprinkled throughout l. Thought provoking and helped you look at yourself and own actions in relationshop. Well done!
