What the @#£% happened at the end? Is there another one? Does Jane meet him again?

Through the windshield of the car they could see the forests of bare trees dusted lightly with snow, and towering above them, the gloriously white peak of Mt. Fuji. Miraculously, the peak was not hidden by clouds and the entire mountain was visible. As the car approached Lake Yamanaka, they looked directly at the eastern slope of Mt. Fuji; viewed from here.... the whole mountain seemed dignified and resolute

Everyone loves Chiyo, thought Jane, and yet, I wonder if she isn't the loneliest one of all.

Cute and snarky :) But it would be great to know how all was for them after/later :)

It was fine, but I needed a little more. Two overachievers battling it out yet actually liking each other was an interesting take; however, the liking each other needed to be more prominent, maybe? Also, there was a weirdly large amount of references to death (she writes an entire email about strangling him bc he‘s “so frustrating” and then feels like she‘s about “to vomit up blood” during an tense moment with her peers). It was a bit strange…

I had read and loved both The Housekeeper and the Professor and The Memory Police. This one is quite different from those. It‘s more easygoing. Tomoka is sent to her cousin‘s family for a year when she is 12. The book covers her relationship with her cousin, Mina, and their lives together for that year. Mina has a hippo that she rides to school. I wanted more of the hippo. 😊 Continued with Wake Up and Open Your Eyes on my #audiowalk.

Bookwormjillk I loved this one, and agree it is different from the others! 4mo

I loved this book. I was expecting something like The Memory Police, but instead I got a coming of age story about a girl who goes to live with wealthy relatives for a year. Written in a light way even though it touches on some dark topics, this book was easy to read and perfect for cold winter mornings when you just can‘t face getting up yet.

BarbaraBB Lovely review. I have this one lined up soon too. 6mo
