Hello, Litsy members

Forgive me if I'm not utilizing the platform correctly; I recently discovered it. There is a debut Romantsy releasing July 25th, 2025 and I'm seeking arc readers. The novel is a spice-free, new adult romantsy and explores the following tropes: found family, revenge, and subtle faith. The blurb can be found in the image. If interested, please comment below! This was an adorable middle grade romance!

I loved the premise. It‘s the classic “popular guy helping the nerdy girl with a makeover and they up falling for each other” trope. Not a novel premise, but one that I do adore. I thought the execution of it was well done, especially for a middle grade audience.

Oh, my, this book started off way slow for me. I thought about DNFing it, but I plowed along. The last 15% to 20% picked up, thank goodness. It takes place in Ireland and England.

Clara goes off to school in Belfast. Jenny, her mom, surprises her with a visit. Jenny decides to bring her home, but Clara disappears at the train station.

I figured out quite a lot of this book before it actually happened.

I'm not sure now that I've finished it that it was worth it.

Things I liked: lots of queerness, Mallory's fibro, the closeness of the main characters, the platonic love between Mallory and Theodore. Forensic science on magic.

Things I didn't like: it felt kinda of... young? The concerns of the trio of girls were very teenage. The real clues started to become so obvious. Obnoxious monologuing to explain a load of tortured clues.

shanaqui It was *okay*, just... I want more than okay for 2h30m of investment (probably more than that for a lot of people; I'm a relatively fast reader).

I'm close to my #BookSpinBingo blackout, anyway!

My #bookspinbingo card for May.
No Bingo this time, but I didn't get much chance to read this month as I'd like.

We have a couple trips planned for June, so I likely won't read everything I'd like to, but I am excited for V.E. Schwab's new book, as well as S.A. Cosby's.

This sucked me right in. Like Fourth Wing level of not being able to stop. I have no idea why it took so long for this to catch on but it seems like people are starting to figure it out.

I finished one of my June 2025 #Roll100 picks (The Horror of Glam Rock, which was also a February pick) early, so I gave myself an extra « owned book » space on the #BookSpinBingo list this month. Also, The Way of Kings is a carryover from May. Still working hard on it!
