I had a feeling going in that this would be a DNF. I read two other books by this author that left zero impression. But I needed something to tide me over from Christmas to #BookSpin day.

#dnf Life is too short to read books you don‘t like. Unless you‘re in school, then you have no choice.

My last DNF of 2025. The story is moving too slow to keep my attention. I gave it over 50 pages, but I don't feel it's going to get any better. #hailthebail

This had an interesting start, but I‘m just not enjoying the main character or the writing style. It has a YA tone but definitely adult content. Just not for me. #hailthebail

After 235 pages, I just don't care enough to read another 300 pages. #HailTheBail

I started reading this with so much expectations considering the high ratings everywhere. But, it turned out to be such a dull. Two men, one architect and one serial killer, the only common factor was they were both in Chicago.

It should have been 2 separate books for completely separate audiences. “Depraved“ was such a great book on H H Holmes and completely satisfies the true crime, serial killer bug in you.

I've tried so hard with this, cos y'know, it's Stephen King. I have to bail. I just don't engage with the characters. Sorry #LosersClub this one is not for me.

I don't get the hype or why this even has a mainstream publisher. Was it popular on Booktok or something? You can find better self-published books on KU. Dark? Please, there's zero depth or emotional attachment so it doesn't feel dark. Romantic? The courtship is more painful than the torture scenes. Comedy? A light tone and irrational characters isn't enough to make it funny.
