I would love to see this book used as a mentor text! I think students could enjoy writing through the POV of a random object in their life. For instance, an object in a thrift store like the type writer, or even their own pencil!

I think this book would be great for students to read. The themes of dealing with a parent going missing, let along discovering that a parent left them, could be a very real topic for some students, and give them a protagonist to connect with. In addition to this, the dealing of a parent with cancer, or the protagonist with intense anxiety also connects the reader.
I loved this book! It was very short and sweet and told a beautiful story. This book presents an interesting point of view, that of a type writer, and a young boy going through hardships, and prompts the reader to think about the different ways we can view the world. The story is a very quick read, and once I started, I could not put it down! PLUS there a little bit of found family within the text if that is your cup of tea.
I either never read this one or forgot most of the story, or maybe it's shorter in the comic strip versions? It's been so long. The beginning and ending seemed familiar.
I really love Moominmamma just relentlessly adopting anyone who needs a mother.
Thanks to @Monalyisha talking about the Moomin books, I decided to go and read them! And turns out that though I only remembered for sure reading Moominland Midwinter, I'm pretty sure I had remembered this one. It doesn't entirely fit what I remember about the series; I think I saw someone else mentioning that it doesn't quite fit, so I guess we'll see. It's charming all the same.
I have had this on loop all day. 250 years later, and we're still fighting this. Thanks to all who went out there today to fight the good fight. I got blindsided with a hellacious cold and didn't want to spread my germs, but I've been there in spirit. #resist 💙✊🏻♥️
If you've never seen Schoolhouse Rock, especially this one, it's worth 3 minutes of your time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvOZs3g3qIo
Such a beautiful story about a son and his dad who have to move from their favorite blue house. It showed all the faults with the house that they loved and how they made their new home loved just as much as the blue house. Wonderful graphics.
Back to the library because I forgot to pick up a hold yesterday. More reading and more check outs ensued.

Beautiful artwork. This book is told in four different stories in four different seasons. We see Hazel blowing off work to enjoy the summer fun, raising an owl in the spring, finding a new friend in autumn and getting lost in the winter. Lovely stories.
