While I think the author wants us to see her as a brave whistleblower ( and she is), she must certainly bear some of the blame for the heinous things she describes. You don‘t live and work like that for so long without being complicit. Overall, I was deeply disappointed and often horrified at the ridiculous behavior and dangerous decision-making that results when ordinary people acquire an unimaginable amount of money and power.

I wasn't far in to the tagged book before I realized I just had to do a reread of Gatsby along with it. I can't begin to count the number of times I've read Gatsby because I used to teach it, but So We Read On made it feel like a new experience. It's part literary criticism and part author study, but it's all heart because it's written by a Fitzgerald/Gatsby scholar who adores the book. I loved it! And I loved revisiting Fitzgerald's prose ❤️

And he could not tell why the struggle was worth while, why he had determined to use to the utmost himself and his heritage from the personalities he had passed. . .
He stretched out his arms to the crystalline, radiant sky.
“I know myself,” he cried, “but that is all.”

I have an innate curiosity to learn about the lives of other people. Identified as a biographical fiction novel, Call Me Zelda by Erika Robuck, spoke to my interests about F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald. The novel opens in 1932 with Zelda being admitted to the Phipps Psychiatric Clinic in Baltimore, Maryland, and meeting her assigned nurse, Anna Howard.
