Daindreth's Assassin | Elisabeth Wheatley

I read these when I learned that Tears of the Wolf is a sort of prequel. The writing is not as good as these newest two books, but it‘s a solid story about two cursed individuals trying to survive, break their curses and have fallen in love- and basically a lot of people are trying to capture and or kill them. Also monsters.

PuddleJumper I love her book goblin skits 7d

I enjoy Elisabeth Wheatley‘s videos and decided I should try her books. This is the first book of a complete series and available on Hoopla, so I thought it would be a better choice than her new series. It has some interesting world building, but it‘s also very much a first book that sets up a series. I‘m giving it a light pick, and I may or may not pick up the next books when I‘m looking for another light fantasy listen.

I found this via IG, as the author has hysterical Book Goblin reels, and decided to give this series a try. I like Wheatley‘s writing style. The world building is good, even if the set up drags a bit. The ending is open, prepped for the sequel. I‘m looking forward to seeing how things play out.

DGRachel @Soubhiville She has several complete series and has a new series that starts early next year. 11mo
Soubhiville That‘s so cool. I‘m not sure why I didn‘t know that. Definitely planning to give her a try this year. 🙂📚 11mo
julesG I think you're the first person I know who has read one of her books. Yes, there are lots of positive reviews, but I tend to look for reviews from people I know before getting a book that might be "epic". I'm allergic to "epic" novels. ("epic" to me means something along "drawn out plot/world-building/character development and endless/unnecessary descriptions of mundane things") 11mo
DGRachel @julesG I think she did a good job with the initial world building but yes, there are definitely some things she‘s intentionally drawing out and I‘m not best pleased about it. But, the first book was good enough that I want to read at least the next and since they were on sale for a reasonable price, I went ahead and bought the remaining 5 ebooks. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 11mo
julesG Okay! Thanks. I'm off to have a look at whether they are on sale here too. 11mo

A high fantasy romance novel that is a little too romance for this to be a great book for me, but it was a good read and a very interesting world.
A cursed prince falls for a cursed stepdaughter of a vassal king. They must try to break their curses while avoiding the plots of demons and empresses.
4/5 read for a high fantasy romance that is more realistic about the skills needed to be an assassin than most female assassin books.

iread2much Some of my wonderful #litsylove penpals have asked to see some of my #lego sets, but I‘m having a hard time getting them sized for this app. Sorry all! 1y

My favourite author is Terry Goodkind. (Obviously 😂)
As I'm nearing the end of this journey, I need help from my fellow bibliophiles. Does anyone know of any authors/books/series that are similar to Goodkind's writing/philosophy/books?

AnnCrystal Are you asking for similar reads to this one??

Have you tried, The Chronicles of the Necromancer by Gail Z. Martin.

Review: 5⭐️ Run for a copy! All are part of the Kindle Unlimited program. And then I promptly treated myself to the set for my rereads. I couldn‘t put the books down, until the moments I was laughing too hard to keep reading. If you love a brave, cynical, witty heroine and an assorted cast of lovable friends, frenemies, and mortal enemies; this is your series! Emma‘s adventures while saving herself from ruin and grief will move you.

Tamra This looks fun! 2y
Jess_Read_This @Tamra This series has been one of my best reads so far this year. I‘ve never encountered an author quite like Brower. She‘s unpredictable, simultaneously light and deep in her themes/plots, hilarious, and uses many literary references as Emma rebuilds her bookshelf. If you decide to read the series, please let me know your thoughts! The first two are novellas and the rest novels. But definitely are read in order as they chronicle a entire year. 2y

Layers and layers of intrigue topped off with an excellent unreliable narrator. I think Grace is Carter's darkest-humored heroine, which is an interesting change from her other books, too. The amateur teenage espionage crew grows, as well! #reread #yalit #yathriller

This is right up there with Ellen Hopkins‘ trilogy as far as making the opioid epidemic, particularly among teenagers, so very, very real. I can‘t look away, but my God, it‘s so scary, and so sad. 😭 #heroine #mindymcginnis #druguse #opioidepidemic #triggerwarnings
