Exactly what the subtitle describes: a book about carbon storing, species preservation, and saving the world as we know it by protecting the large forests that still exist. It was a little more dense than I usually like, with lots of statistics, but I still enjoyed it and pushing through felt worthwhile.

These books are such comfort reads for me! This one had me with eyes almost brimming over several times, as Mma Romatswe offers kind words to someone who needs to hear them, and then reunites with an old friend.

Somehow I hadn‘t read this one before. It‘s 12th in the series and the first that isn‘t a reread for me.

Overall I didn‘t love the book, but the writing is lyrically beautiful. I will certainly read more by her!

I wish this had been more about filming the movie, but otherwise a pretty good YA romance. It‘s mostly about struggling with popularity and the ways friendships can evolve.

Wow Rainbow Rowell, you sure are good at writing relatable young characters that I would have been friends with (or would have actually been).

As a fan of so many fantasy worlds, I felt the love Cath and Wren have for Simon Snow. I can‘t even say how many of my favorite places and people live in books.

This book also makes me feel funny in saying I‘ve never read any fanfic. (I know! What am I waiting for?)

The oppression of women shown here is crushing. The abuse, the tradition of women‘s purpose being nothing but wives, cooks, housemaids, and mothers, and the constant stamping out of any type of ambition in young girls and young women; heartbreaking.

If you haven‘t read it, I recommend it. The writing is excellent and completely engrossing. Prepare for anger, hurt, and helplessness. Luckily, also flashes of joy, love, sisterhood, and hope.

It‘s a chilly morning, so we‘re all extra snuggled in with fuzzy blankets.

I feel like it‘s taking forever to read this one! I think it‘s mostly just that life is distracting me right now. At least I get a little reading time before obligations call me in a couple hours.

I think this is my favorite graphic novel I‘ve read. It‘s the story of the author‘s family moving to the US from Vietnam. There is a lot of history of the political changes in Vietnam from the 40‘s to the late 70‘s, of which I didn‘t know much. But the family dynamic is the strongest element here. Very good book!

I feel like I was a little late to the party with this one, but I‘m glad I got to it!

A bittersweet read from a daughter‘s point of view as she sees her dad go through the beginning stages of dementia.

My favorite parts were the sections of journal her dad kept with memories from her childhood. “Today you asked, what do germs taste like?”
