‘It was a dark and stormy night when Mary Crane glimpsed the unlit neon sign announcing the vacancy at the Bates Motel.‘

So glad I got around to rereading this. I forgot how well it was written through Norman‘s POV. Creepy.

Proof that you don‘t need a large book to terrify the reader. 📖

TheBee @StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego “... the only people for me are the mad ones,...” ❤️ 6y
TheBee @meghan2714 Yes do it!!! I fell madly in love with it! I‘m a big admirer of all beat writers. I wish I had been in New York City in the 60s 😄. (edited) 6y
TheBee @Velvetfur yes do that! It‘s a really joyful ride, ehm read! 6y

One straight out of my Top-3!
You won't find like an actual story in this particular book, there won't be a beginning, a middle or an end....But you'll will find a certain magic that is hard to explain, a magic that comes out of the poetry that is in every page, that connects you straight to that era!

[8/10]

Thoughts?

BookwormBeth I‘ve almost bought it a dozen times & passed but reading your thoughts on it makes me wish I had. Guess I‘ll be putting my BAM coupon I got yesterday to use lol 6y
cathysaid I enjoyed most of this one. And I found it was one I could put down for a few days and come back to it without losing the mood. 👍 6y
CoffeeNBooks I really liked this book, even though I found Sal to be very annoying in his mania and lack of ability to settle down at all, lol! I found the story fascinating and compelling, and I like Jack Kerouac's writing. 6y

MaGoose Always meant to read it, but it always seems to slip to the bottom of the TBR pile. 6y
Velvetfur I love this one but I need to reread it as I think it was about 20 years ago that I read it! 6y
wlivengood What is the book about? 6y
TheNeverendingTBR @wlivengood it's based on the travels of Kerouac and his friends across the United States. 6y
Quirkybookworm Holy crap. A blast from the past. Been ages seen I‘ve read that! 6y
PaperbackPirate I just got a 1957 edition the other day. It‘s one of the few books I own more than one copy of now. 6y

Visiting my best friend for helping her with her wedding plans once more. I didn't have a chance to read on the train, while a whole school class was discussing, what they want to do in Cologne. Anyway do you know any helps for reading while it is too loud?

So now I take the little lamp and try to read a few chapters... Sooooo tired... #fridayreads #ontheroad
