This is a story that will always tear at my heart. Jenny does a great job of showing how death and life play roles with animals but as an animal lover myself it‘s hard to imagine what some animals go through. I definitely suggest it as a read but have tissues nearby.

This is such an important book, for abused kids, for trans kids, for kids in general - because let‘s be honest, people are constantly trying to just shut kids up and keep them from speaking truth to power. Of course that power and those who are power hungry are trying to silence this, too.

Sentimental in the best way. I don't know if this would hit the same way if you did not grow up with animal companions, but I find it a warm, fuzzy (one might say furry) hug of a book. 🥹
