This is an #LMPBC read so I don't want to say too much. I did enjoy this one but was also somewhat frustrated by some parts of it. I'm already intrigued to find out what the rest of #GroupD thinks of this one!!

Also love the cover layout for this one.

@babyruth2510 @Bookwormjillk @Professional_Book_Dragon

Professional_Book_Dragon I‘m excited to get it! I‘m just starting mine today. Should be done in a few days! :) 4y

Professional_Book_Dragon @TheAromaofBooks Where did you see the schedule? She said she would post it but I only saw the last round. Did it miss it somewhere? 4y
Andrew65 Still going well! 4y
TheAromaofBooks @Professional_Book_Dragon - did you not get the email with the names/addresses of everyone in the group?? 4y
Professional_Book_Dragon @TheAromaofBooks I did but there wasn‘t a schedule that I saw. She said she‘d post it on her Litsy but I never saw round 8. I figured since I‘m 3 I mail to 4 and then to 1 and then 2. It looked like that was what happened last round? 4y
katy4peas Cool cover! 4y
TheAromaofBooks @Professional_Book_Dragon - Yes, at the end of this month you will mail your book to me (since I'm 4) and I will mail my book to Ruth (who is 1), etc. Jill (3) will mail to you. Then at the end of April, you'll mail Jill's book to me, I'll mail your book to Ruth, etc. Each person always mails to the next person on the list until you get your own book back. 4y

I can't believe that the carry-over character from the first book was the person who drove me the most crazy! The actual story & action in this book was great fun, but listening to pages of pompous prosing by the great Dr. Ian Malcolm really dragged down the pace. Some of what he said was important to the story, but a lot of it felt like padding. Would people really sit around & listen to multi-page lectures when they could be DINOSAUR WATCHING?!

Bookwormjillk Lol you‘re so right 4y

TheAromaofBooks @Bookwormjillk - It just seemed unlikely that people, including two children, would rather sit in a dark trailer listening to him prose on about various scientific theories about extinction instead of being out watching real, live, honest-to-goodness DINOSAURS! 🙄 4y

I had somehow never read this one, and it seriously cut into yesterday's productivity levels because I had trouble putting it down! A fun romp of a story, and I found myself wondering how it was marketed when it was first published, because realizing that these were DINOSAURS could have been a pretty serious mind-blow! I had some issues, mainly the constant philosophizing whilst fending off velociraptors - seriously, is this when you would ⬇️

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) ACTUALLY be lecturing everyone on chaos theory??! VELOCIRAPTORS!!! The ending also felt awkward and abrupt. Still, all in all, this was a fun story that I had trouble putting down, and I am (perhaps foolishly, considering everything I need to get done today 😁) rolling straight into The Lost World. 4y
hannah-leeloo I loved these books. I agree Malcolm had interesting timing and was hard at times to keep up with his "theory". Happy reading hun ??? 4y

TheAromaofBooks @hannah-leeloo - I was just like, “Um, pretty sure you are dying of dinosaur wounds while velociraptors are nomming their way into your room so they can kill you and you are still TALKING ABOUT SCIENTIFIC THEORIES?! It just seemed unlikely! 😆 4y
hannah-leeloo @TheAromaofBooks yer I agree but he was very clever for a man becoming delusional hahaha. Alan Grant will always be my favourite 🦖 4y
Inkblotsandcoffeestains I agree with you on this! When I read it I laughed at how unlikely it would be to do anything but freak out! On another note though: I thought this was a million times better than the movie will ever be, which is saying a lot because I love the movie lol 4y
TheAromaofBooks @hannah-leeloo - yes I fell a little bit in love with Grant when I was reading this!! 😍 4y
TheAromaofBooks @Inkblotsandcoffeestains - it's been a really, really long time (like maybe 20 years lol) since I have seen the movie, so it seemed like a good time to read the book, when the movie wasn't really in my mind any more, if that makes sense. But now I'm interested to rewatch the movie and see how it stacks up! 4y
hannah-leeloo @TheAromaofBooks he's great in the films and books 😉 4y

I was surprised at how entertaining and readable this classic ended up being. Verne's heroes are always strong, silent, scientific men, and Fogg is no exception. We never really find out why he takes on his bet, but he calmly deals with every delay that appears. My favorite part is when his servant rescues the girl, but the girl views Fogg as the hero and falls in love! 😆 Published in 1872, so there is definitely a sense of inherent white ⬇️

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) supremacy as they pass through areas like India and Japan, but this was the height of colonialism, so in a weird way it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be?? All in all, Verne weaves a fun and entertaining tale that I definitely recommend.

One book down for #24B4Monday!! Haven't been tracking my hours this time around, but hoping to finish two more books by the end of the weekend. @Andrew65 @TheReadingMermaid @jb72

ljuliel I really like Jules Verne. I remember liking his books as a kid too. He was a very good storyteller. Look 👀 at you, whipping through those challenges. Good job 👍🏼 4y

TheAromaofBooks @ljuliel - my dad is an engineer, and he loves Jules Verne so much. I grew up reading his books, but haven't revisited them in a long time. Hoping to read 20,000 Leagues and The Mysterious Island this year, too! 4y
ljuliel It‘s nice to revisit sone of those books you lived growing up.. brings back good memories. 4y
jb72 Great start! I have two of his books but haven‘t read them yet. 4y
Andrew65 It is a good book. You are going well. 👏👏👏 4y
TheAromaofBooks @jb72 - Verne is especially interesting when you consider him in the context of his time. Some of the scientific stuff he was writing about was basically sci-fi when he was writing it, but later became reality, so it can be fun reading. 4y

This one verges on so-so for me as I don't think it is one of Christie's best, and short stories in general aren't really my style. However I have a huge soft spot for Hastings, and do always find Poirot entertaining. It was just hard to get into the groove when the stories were so brief. Plus, there wasn't really a stand-out chapter for me. Enjoyable but not stellar.

Read this one for #agathachristieclubr2 @ferskner More challenges below ⬇️
