It's here! The Folio Society edition of The Lost World 🦖😍🦕 the illustrations are beautiful and bring the book to life so well! This is my 3rd complete set of Jurassic World book set lol but it's sooooo worth it. Happy reading and weekend and anyone who's also being affected by the storm please be safe 🙏🏻 ❤ #jurassicpark #dinosaurs #illustrations #foliosociety #specialedition
Had to treat myself to the Folio Society special edition of The Lost World by Michael Crichton especially as have the first book edition. I look forward to the illustrations and beauty. #foliosociety #specialedition #dinosaurs #lostworld
"I was sorry to cut short the celebrations in mathematics departments around the country," he later said, "but it turned out I was only slightly dead." - Dr. Ian Malcolm
The Jurassic Park movies have been some of my favourites since I was little and I rewatch them yearly. I finally decided to read Jurassic Park last year and I quite enjoyed and I'm keen to read The Lost World this year!

My evening plans are to finish this book in time for a live stream on YouTube tomorrow morning. Yikes! Only 350 pages to go. 😵💫
Found this one at the grocery store that I work at that has a little "give a book, take a book" library at the front door. Loved the first book of this series, so going to give this one a try as my first book on Litsy!
Not as good as the first book, but still a solid book with interesting characters and science! I think Crichton is climbing his way to being a favorite of mine. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This cute little guy is hanging out with me today while I try to finish this one! #dogsoflitsy #notmydog
This was a great book, it was based on a multiple series of books by Michael Crichton. this book is about a world filled with genetically engineered dinosaurs, they were created through a Lab company called ‘InGen‘ this company uses accident fossils and extract DNA from them to create REAL LIFE DINOSAURS! this book is mainly based around a theme park that has been taken over by dinosaurs to create a lost or forgotten world filled with dinosaurs!
Oooohhhh dinos and bad guys and good guys. A life-altering time was had by all!
Another awesome book, another awesome film.
The books are so different from the movies but I actually love them! They are so well written, the characters are similar to the movies but different enough that I can‘t help but read more, I‘d definitely recommend them to anyone who is a fan of the Jurassic park/world franchise!
🦖🦕🦖
While Jurassic Park sends readers along on a test run of theme park that goes very very wrong, The Lost World gives us a glimpse at the abandoned Site B, where the corporation began their tests for the park. The Lost World is an all around great read! I loved that the terror really sinks its claws into the reader and drags them through to the very end.

I'm such a fan of this series and the original movies. 💚 Michael Crichton delivers a world full of magic once again, and horror, as humans believe they are better than Mother Nature and tamper with things they should not touch.
Although I do love the first book more, this still makes for an excellent read, and truth be told, I'm always cheering for the dinosaurs to win in the end. 😀

I have 5 books I didn't finish this month, but I'm happy to try again next month.

Another reread finished! As with the first, I love how much more detail there is in the book than the films, I was initially surprised how different the book is to the film but I enjoy them separately.
Bonus points for how many prompts it filled for #summerfun bingo!

Day 3: For fun, I am going to post one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join the fun if you want. #bookstoread #tbrpile @StaceyKondla
Jurassic Park is one of my favourite books, so I was a bit scared of reading the second book. Will it ruin the first one?
Well, Crichton doesn't ruin anything. He simply knows what he's doing.
This one is a tiny bit less scientifical and therefore targets a wider audience. It is still a book written by Michael Crichton, so facts are important and a huge part of the story. Yep, I loved it.
I‘ll call this a pick, but I liked the first one so much more. The constant interruptions for science and theory took away from the story rather than adding to it. I can promise you that if I am dying from a dinosaur bite I will not be talking to you about evolution. That said there was still a lot of dinosaur awesomeness in this book, so it was worth reading.
I‘m still not sure who a lot of my neighbors are but I know most of their pets. This dog shows us his broom every time we walk by. #LitsyBitsy #40Miles20Hours #audiowalking
I am very ready to get away from the theories on human extinction and possible weird disease portions of this book and get to the dinosaurs 🦖
I can't believe that the carry-over character from the first book was the person who drove me the most crazy! The actual story & action in this book was great fun, but listening to pages of pompous prosing by the great Dr. Ian Malcolm really dragged down the pace. Some of what he said was important to the story, but a lot of it felt like padding. Would people really sit around & listen to multi-page lectures when they could be DINOSAUR WATCHING?!
1. This week has been Jurassic Park & The Lost World!!
2. Husband ❤
3. Love the mountains. Favorite place we've been is Lake City, Colorado.
#ThoughtfulThursday @MoonWitch94
@emilymdxn's #widehorizonsreadathon starts today!! My goal is 24hrs for the whole week, so we will see what happens!! I'm totally engrossed in the tagged book, having whizzed through Jurassic Park yesterday. 😁
Ian Malcolm is back!!! I loved this sequel, I was so excited to read this after I finished Jurassic Park. Of course, this was different from the movie but it was still good!!! It included a map, which was nice. I always love a good map! I loved most of the new characters, Arby and Dr. Thorne especially. Levine, I could have done without 😑 but he was the reason they were there. The only thing missing? Dr. Alan Grant 😂
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. I mean come on, dinosaurs, fast paced, gore, why not 5 stars 😋
In my opinion, even better than Jurassic Park. I thought the action was better paced and it didn't require as much background story. Absolutely loved this series.
"Human beings never think for themselves, they find it too uncomfortable. For the most part, members of our species simply repeat what they are told - and become upset if they are exposed to any different view."

Ive been so lucky with my #bookhauls recently! So many amazing books. This is a great follow up to Jurassic Park. This book once again highlights the folly of science when mixed with greed. It was also great to see the return of a much loved character from the first novel.
Started this tonight. Second one @hannah-leeloo suggested
Took this guy out for a little afternoon lunch while his dad and sisters went tubing. We had a nice time talking about nature, serial killers, and books. I've been getting him into reading more than just informative texts like nature books and encyclopedias and we got to discuss some potential future reads. Last week he finished Jurassic Park and tomorrow he will start the sequel.

Reading this today bc yesterday I went to the Dinosaur Valley State Park to see the dinosaur prints in the river. It was so much fun!! I should have been a paleontologist for sure! I‘m easily fascinated by dinosaur stuff.
Not my favorite of the two but still a really great story! I felt like the last 150pgs went on FOREVER but had a couple of really great scenes. Definitely don't read if you want to compare it to the movie version. It's WAY different but holds up on its own.
All your life, other people will try to take your accomplishments away from you. Don't you take it away from yourself.
...even at your young age, there's something you might as well learn now. All your life people will tell you things. And most of the time, probably ninety-five percent of the time, what they'll tell you will be wrong...
It's a fact of life... Human beings are just stuffed full of misinformation. So it's hard to know who to believe.
Lucky for me, I noticed Lost World for Kindle was on sale yesterday and bought it! I read Jurassic Park over the summer and devoured it in a few days. Started this one last night and already love it!
What makes you think human beings are sentient and aware? There's no evidence for it. Human beings never think for themselves, they find it too uncomfortable. For the most part, members of our species simply repeat what they are told--and become upset if they are exposed to any different view.
1. They‘re all SO good... But Finding Nemo is the OG 👌🏻🙌🏻
2. Nope. I‘d rather not break someone‘s car attempting to learn 😂
3. Ready Player One. Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children. Lost World (of Jurassic Park.) Gone Girl....
I can‘t pick just one 😭
4. Whatever life throws at me.
5. Sure thing!

An annoying scientist, Levine thought the possibility of a lost world, of dinosaurs could exist. There have been several reports of odd, large lizard-like creatures that are being found, and immediately destroyed by the government. This has put in motion Levine and his team of scientist (including Malcolm) to search, find and study this mystery untouched by extinction. Once found, the island is a crazy, thrilling ride. Not everyone gets out alive!
I am so confused... 5 movies from 2 books, and I really cannot tell how they used the second book at all?! 100pgs in and... nothing. Don't get me wrong, I like it, but why? It would've made a good movie, well, probably. It has the suspense. 🤔📚
Just finished this one on audio! Like the first one, it's not completely accurate or realistic (especially with more recent findings in paleontology, which I know because I have a dinosaur-obsessed child), but it was still fun and scientific enough to provide suspension of disbelief. Does anyone have other dinosaur book suggestions? Preferably adult books, but MR and YA could work, and they should be somewhat realistic--more science than fantasy.
1. I think Little Women — 700-800 some pages in the book that I had!
2. The Winternight Trilogy by Katherine Arden.
3. Julie Ann
4. Does life count as a skill? 😂😂
Other than getting to see “Crazy Rich Asians” this weekend (LOVED it!) this weekend has been pretty boring and still blew on by!
Thanks for the #SundaySurvey @alisonrose
Breakfast date with my little girl, diner by me has amazing breakfast and a free little library inside found 2 books 😍 so excited to have more of the Jurassic world
