GingerAntics Exactly! It‘s really great at what is does, and it presents the war in a much different way. It‘s definitely not a dry textbook. In that deserves many stars. 4y

Pride of Eden: A Novel | Taylor Brown

I really want to read outside in the fresh air, instead of inside with the furnace air, but it‘s much too cold. So, I‘m going to settle for snuggling with #Bailey and reading about the great outdoors. Taylor Brown does an incredible job at describing settings so well that you are transported to those places. His writing is just gorgeous.

ljuliel I‘m with you. Can‘t wait til it‘s warm enough to sit outside to read. I don‘t know why, but I always pictured Taylor Brown as being a female ! I‘m not sure why I thought it.... maybe because one of my cousins had a girl they named Taylor. 4y

DGRachel @ljuliel I met him at a book signing two years ago, on his book tour for Gods of Howl Mountain the night before I had to put Pilot to sleep (sorry, the grief is strong today). He‘s a really nice guy. I bought his backlist that night, too, and he signed all of them for me. 4y

ljuliel Since I read mostly ebooks and audio, I often don‘t see a picture of the author .It sounds like he was very nice. I need to read something of his. I‘m very sorry about your pet ( dog or cat )?That‘s probably one of the reasons I don‘t have pets. The part where you lose them would be one of the hardest things. I guess you can at least know that you gave them the best life possible while they were with you and hopefully had many good years together 4y

This was definitely the light cozy mystery I was looking for. Lucy decides to quit her job as a patent attorney after being passed over again for partner and returns home to her parents‘ NJ restaurant. When the health inspector is murdered, Lucy becomes the prime suspect and teams up with her BFF to find the real killer. An enjoyable, quick read, I‘m looking forward to more in the series. #Bailey says it‘s a good book for #saturdaysnuggles.

I love ALW‘s musical, CATS. Love it. It‘s coming to Charlotte in August and I can‘t wait to see it again. And unlike most of Twitter, I‘m ridiculously excited about the movie version this December. In anticipation of both, I checked this out from the library. I loved it. It‘s hard to tell in the photo, but she‘s actually laying ON my legs and cutting off the circulation to my feet. 😱 On a book-related note, I don‘t remember crying in previously reads of this book, but it‘s hitting me harder this time. I‘ve already sobbed twice!

Istanbul Noir | Amy Spangler, Mustafa Ziyalan

Both dogs had vet check ups today and it was super stressful for everyone. We learned that #Bailey is just way too protective of me in any new situation. So, baby girl and I have some major training work to do. But tonight, she‘s passing out and I‘m struggling to finish this book. It‘s definitely not my favorite of the Akashic Noir collections I have read. #dogsoflitsy #pitbullsoflitsy #SaturdaySnuggles

DGRachel @Bookgoil It kills me because she is truly the sweetest, most loving dog I‘ve ever had, but she turned into a barking, snarling monster when the vet tech walked into the room. When the vet came in, he asked me for the leash, walked Bailey to the other side of the room, made her sit, and she was back to her normal sweet self. (edited) 5y

MicheleinPhilly We‘re dealing with this with Pickles. She has become REALLY protective but we‘ve been working with a trainer and it‘s going well. But it is very stressful at times. Hang in there! 5y

DGRachel @MicheleinPhilly 😔 Thank you for the encouragement. We did some work with a trainer last year, but will have to either rehire said trainer or get a new one. Part of the problem is I don‘t like leaving my house, so socializing Bailey means socializing me. 😲 5y

MicheleinPhilly Oh I get that. A bunch of our IRL friends are the parents of Pickles‘ friends. ☺️ And it can be difficult to avoid certain situations because we live in a high foot traffic area with a LOT of people and dogs but a baggie of pepperoni works wonders. 5y

Bookgoil @DGRachel that‘s hard Zeus isn‘t that bad but when it‘s just us two out on a walk he tends to bark more at humans and other dogs and when he‘s off leash at the park he won‘t tolerate me petting other dogs he doesn‘t know (he will try to tug them away from me) and will stay by me if I‘m talking to a male he does not know and not leave my side. Nothing super aggressive though. We‘re working on some of it (edited) 5y

Mom is finally back from Arizona, but integrating my grandma‘s chihuahua into Bailey‘s household is not going well. Bailey and I are gated in my room and I think I‘ve been able to spend a grand total of an hour with my mom since she arrived yesterday. 😔 Reading the tagged book while it rains outside.

DGRachel @LauraBeth @Tamra I think Scooter wants to be friends, but every time he gets too close to the baby gate, Bailey starts to growl. Scooter is so traumatized from the move and my grandmother‘s passing, that he‘s glued to Mom and if I leave Bailey alone in my room, she starts whining incessantly. So, she and I are trapped in my room, while Mom and Scooter are in the living room. Tropical Storm Florence isn‘t helping. 😔 6y

LauraBeth Hopefully, after a few days it will be normal with them. When we brought my Mom‘s dog over it was rough at first, but Bitsy came to accept him. 6y

DGRachel @4thhouseontheleft I think the flooding is worse east of me. I haven‘t left my house, and probably won‘t until Tuesday (working from home tomorrow), but while my yard is a soggy, muddy mess, my street doesn‘t appear to have flooded. We never lost power for more than a couple of minutes, for which I am extremely grateful. How are you up there? 6y
