Blind Date with a Werewolf | Patricia Briggs

#favoritereadofthemonth (October)

I finished this in one sitting because I couldn't put it down. Once again, Patricia Briggs delivers a fun, engaging story told in 5 short stories that shes ties together about Asil (from the Mercyverse). I loved reading about his 5 dates & appreciated how she tied all 5 stories together, & even had a HEA.

Thanks for the tag @ChaptersofChaos

I read this in 2013 and I liked it, I may have read more of the series? I can‘t remember, but I have plenty of catching up to do regardless. So since 2006 we as a society are more aware of cultural appropriation & Briggs is not native & the fae are sent to reservations which is… not ideal. Urban fantasy around that time would throw in any & every culture with little to no research, I don‘t know how the indigenous community feels about it here

5feet.of.fury But I did like the story, I like Mercy. The world is pretty well rounded, she‘s underpowered (at least here) so she has to use her wits & connections which helps with the plot. 6d

Hello! I‘ve had a bit of a Litsy-hiatus due to work travel and the newly enforced vacation (iykyk). But I missed you! Y‘all help me actually think about what I‘m reading, and it turns out that I couldn‘t remember the title of a single book I‘d read lately, good or bad, when asked by my hairdresser last week 😆 so let‘s try and turn that around. At least Briggs‘ werewolves are always memorable…

Shinn‘s Twelve Houses series is one of my very favorite fantasy series, and there has always been an information gap - what happened to Kirra & Donnal on Dorrin Island? And now, so many years later, we finally know! I was so excited to hear about this book coming out.
Most of my enjoyment of this novella came from just being back with characters & in a world I know so well. I do wish it had been longer & given them more space to work things out.

Hawk Song, first book in the Kiesha'ra series.

Been years. I read this series as a teenager/young adult.

Deals with racism from the POV of a diverse world of shapeshifters.

If you read and liked, “Bride“ by Ali Hazelwood, you may like this series. (I will re-review the Bride book in a future post for this group).

The Half King was a huge surprise. It deals heavily with women discrimination.

There are some readers warnings. I almost didn't continue after the opening scene. Please read my previous review if you are a sensitive reader.

I'm glad I did continue, because this was a book with a powerful message.

The Spell Shop is a cozy read. The main focus of the storyline takes us away from the political drama of this world, instead we feel the struggles of the people who have lived under oppression...then see the first impact from a reforming government.

Murtagh was the first book I read from this series. It was incredible...and emotionally difficult.

There are some readers warnings. I had to skip past a few connecting scenes. Please read my previous review if you are a sensitive reader.

Murtagh and his Dragon Thorn survived and escaped an abusive King, who had kept them in compelled service (for years) by magic.

AnnCrystal This story shows their healing journey as they nearly fall victim to another oppressive Queen.

Every time I write Haiku, the similarities to Murtagh-Man's writings makes me smile.

Another delayed April review—this one I finished early in the month but never got around to posting. This is the third in the Sea Wicche Chronicles which is a spin-off of the Sam Quinn series. It‘s paranormal fluff overall with lots of danger & spice mixed in, but sometimes you need just that & I like the characters & setting, so I‘ll keep reading. 😉
