It‘s the last full week of school and I should absolutely be grading finals, but I‘m taking a short break to read in the hammock because I‘ve had almost no print reading time this week. I‘ve only finished the first full chapter of this, but I‘m amused and enjoying it.

What a page turner! I haven‘t read a book this fast in ages! I was engrossed in Pippa‘s murder-suicide investigation from the jump and definitely fell for some red herrings — maybe they‘ll resurface in the sequels? (What could the sequels possibly be about?!) I really liked the mixed research report/narrative format too.

Feeling a little grumpy about getting added to 2 committees at work today, so I'm slacking on all library duties in favor of listening to a fun audiobook and helping @LittleMouse5708 with the yearbook... #schoollibraries #teachersoflitsy #librariansoflitsy

I cannot express how exceptional this novel is. As someone that teaches R&J on a yearly basis- THIS IS THE ADAPTATION THAT THE WORLD NEEDED. It is a MUST read. 1920s, Shanghai opposing gangs. In the R&J adaptation, this is more post teen love (19/20 now), full enemies after assumed teenage betrayal. I am already LOVING the sequel. Also, yes, I keep a planner mostly just to past pictures of book covers in. #shakespeareadaptation #teachersoflitsy

Kimberlone I will definitely check it out! 3w

Reading a book that takes place in Iran at an Italian restaurant in NYC felt a bit… off 😆 but the meal was delicious and the book was sweet.

It‘s a lovely coming of age story about “Fractional Persian” Darius‘ family, friendships, and mental health — and surprisingly zero romance (that‘s what the sequel is for)

Our middle high school is doing a dodgeball tournament for the last two periods of the day. I helpfully volunteered to hang out with any kids who didnt want to be in the noisy gym all afternoon - what a shame that I have to miss out on the chaos and read my book for the next hour... 🤣

Once again, I thought I had my reading planned out for the next month until my Junior Library Guild shipment showed up... now I just want to drop everything and read all these! #schoollibraries #teachersoflitsy #librariansoflitsy

This book could have been great — interesting and realistic sister dynamic, commentary about social media activism and police brutality, modern road trip following the Negro Motorist Green Book— but the structure did the book a tremendous disservice. The disjointed plot pieces didn‘t start to fit together until 200+ pages in. Such a shame. I‘m really perplexed by the writers‘/editors‘ messy narrative decisions.
