Horrible cover😝This is book 2 in the Emry Merlín, a retelling. Not much to say without spoil book 1. In some parts, the story was okay, funny and the romances cute, at YA style. However, this a modality with YA trilogies, no need to have 3 books at all. There is a third book coming this year and I bet that these two last books could end the story in just one book. Why? why are they dragging the stories?🤦🏽‍♀️3⭐️and I think I‘m giving too many

Book was a gift from Adline member of #TheForgottenBookClub (July 25, 2023). She had the same impression about this book but we all are going to read book 3 anyway 🤷🏽‍♀️Such is reading life😆

😬Unpopular opinion. I didn‘t like this one as much as I wanted to🤷🏽‍♀️It is so hyped that I was expecting more. Book was discussed in my book club and we had the same impression. No much plot with cute characters but not well described. But I love my two editions. I have the sequel which I will read and I will buy the UK edition of the second boo just match that one, book collector😂 2.5/3⭐️

5feet.of.fury I also did not like this one, it was too slow & corny. How many pages were spent just changing the coffee menu? But I‘m not a big cozy fan in general. 4mo
TheAromaofBooks Great progress!!! 4mo
Gissy @5feet.of.fury Yes it was corny. I like cozy books but I this one I didn‘t see a great plot. I‘m with you...why they have to spend so much time changing the menu😂 4mo
monalyisha @5feet.of.fury I *do* appreciate a “nothing much happens” cozy story, so I don‘t share your opinion…but your comment made me LOL. 3mo

Ninth House | Leigh Bardugo

Pickpick

At the beginning of this story members of my book club and myself were confused. There are two time lines present and past where the past happened a couple of months before. A dark academia with fantasy elements. Alex didn‘t finished HS, was using drugs with other problematic situations but one day while she was in the hospital, the Dean offered her to enter to Yale University. But, why? Does she have a special skill? ⬇️

Gissy (Cont.) She will be part of a secret society and things start to happen😳 I thought the story was predictable and I guessed that part but then those last chapters were twists after twists that I didn‘t see coming. Leigh has this excellent way to develop “villains” unlikable characters that you just love. The ending was so good that motivates you to continue with the sequel immediately, but I have to wait until next month😩⬇️ 7mo
Gissy (Cont.) There is n interesting interview with the author at the end of the audiobook. Leigh Bardugo studied in that university and with the exception of one place the other places are real, of course magic was not real😜😂But she explained why she created the Alex in the way she is, there is some criticism to those elite groups. Fantastic. This book worked for me🤗4⭐️

Another book full of coincidences. These 4 women retired from a secret organization called The Museum. Their mission-at the beginning was to hunting down the neo by nazis and later this vision expanded. Now, they are in danger and they want to know why, they will investigate this why and who is behind that mission.
The ending was so abrupt. 3⭐️

Book read during #20in4 Readathon @Andrew65
2nd book in the trilogy and I have to say that more than half the book was slow, repetitive and sometimes boring. Almost at the end, it had a couple of twists that you want to read the third one. Can‘t say much in this sequel without spoiling the story. 3.5/3.75⭐️

Andrew65 Excellent 👏👏👏 Shame the book didn‘t hold together for the first half. I often find the second book in a trilogy can be the weakest. 9mo

When you buy a book without knowing that it will be the book selected in your subscription box🤷🏽‍♀️
I enjoyed this book more that the first series. I like the world, the plot with action and some kind of mystery. Clones??? Or something like that? We will see an active Ronan. His romance with Adam is so cute❤️ For a YA fantasy 3.8/4⭐️

2nd book in this duology. This is the conclusion of this story but I can‘t say much without spoil the first book story. I liked this book more that the first one because I saw more action, intrigue, suspense and magic but it is still a YA book where the magic system is not complicated and characters are young. It is probably okay but I‘m rating it as a YA and bc I enjoyed it but is not great 3⭐️ #BlackHistoryMonth #BlackAuthor I like the cover 💙

Read at the beginning of this month. This book was like a tv soap opera. A lot of drama with many family secrets, everyone deceived someone😳and everything was connected. I liked Guillermo character, a sculpture so intense in his emotions. I think the ending was a little too convenient, cheesy. Noah was lucky at the end (no spoiler🤷🏽‍♀️) but Noah‘s anguish was so sad. That scene with his dad😢Oscar just made me laugh☺️ 3.5/3.8⭐️

Read during first days of this month. For me, this is my favorite book in this trilogy but I think is because I liked the dynamic between Persephone, Calla and Maura. There is something sad that happened in this book😢I saw in this book more action. As a YA fantasy it was good 3.8⭐️
