4⭐️ I quite liked this book. Very introspective and informative. There were a number of things I liked about the book; would like to purchase a paperback copy when it comes out. And he mentions what he intended to say in regards to the Nikki Haley comment that lead to his firing #2024 #memoir #religion #nonfiction #politics

Oh my goodness, @dabbe !!!! My #HauntedHollowSwap contained so many fabulous gifts, I can barely fit them all into the photo collage! But I had to include the magnetic vampire S&P shakers in both poses... apart and kissing. What a hoot!

How could you possibly have known I have been wanting a two tier tray to display seasonal decor? It looks so cute all set up! And the diamond painting... you really are a good stalker. 🧡 The two books are ⬇️

julieclair perfect. And the gorgeous book cover. 🧡 Plus the food... Pumpkin spice coffee, black & white beans for cozy soup, very yummy caramels! Add in the stickers, post cards, note book and your pretty note, and you have truly spoiled me. Thank you so very much! 🎃👻🧡🧡🧡👻🎃 4w

dabbe I'd say I'm tickled pink, but that's not a Halloweeny color! 😂 You're welcome, m'dear! Thanks for the collage, too. I'm keeping it as a wee memento of this lovely swap. 🧡🎃🧡 4w

I wasn‘t sure at first on this book, but the more I read, I started to see a full vision of what could be. I think a lot about the type of home we are creating for my kids-the environment, stretching, encouragement, etc. This book gave some excellent guidelines and ideas to help make our home a place where our kids can thrive!

Sometimes joy has to be a choice, and this was one of those weeks! I went to NYC with two friends, and the trip felt like 30% enjoying the city and 70% interpersonal conflict. So for this #5JoysFriday I‘m choosing to focus on the joyful moments!
1. Kayaking on the Hudson River
2. Wandering around Little Island at night, listening to some jazz and enjoying the views
3. Eating Smoked Pork Belly Ramen at Momofuku
4. Visiting the Met
5. Coming HOME

dabbe Kudos for finding joys amongst angst. Hope you have a relaxing weekend! 🤩🤩🤩 3mo
BarbaraJean @dabbe Thank you! I‘m definitely planning on that relaxing weekend! 3mo
DebinHawaii I agree with @dabbe you did an amazing job in finding joys during the not-great times! 💛💛💛 Thanks for joining in & sharing the joy! 🤗 3mo

Don't read much light hearted books-I prefer mystery, thriller, and true crime.

But this was a fantastic way to ease into 2024.

I‘ve been on a John mark kick this year. This one isn‘t my favorite of his but it was really interesting… I don‘t always think I agree with all of this but I definitely learned a lot. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This nonfiction book is so compelling and fascinating that it reads like a thriller. Tina Fontaine was the young Indigenous woman whose death set off the firestorm of news coverage in 2014 about the missing and murdered Indigenous women across Canada. The journalist did an amazing job bringing Tina‘s story to light as well as that of the detectives and police squad. While tough to read at times, I highly recommend this one! #BookspinBingo

These holds came in at the same time 😱 I read non-fiction at a snails pace, and now I have to read two(!) in three weeks? 😵 (In addition to 7 more fiction longlist books in two weeks 😅)
Well, I hope these read faster than Doppelganger at least. 😂

squirrelbrain Both ‘easier‘ reads than Doppelgänger, for sure. 8mo
Hooked_on_books I just finished Thunderclap and it‘s a pretty quick read. I read the other on audio, so I can‘t tell you how fast the print is, but it‘s good! (Both are.) 8mo
Leniverse @Hooked_on_books @squirrelbrain I've just started Thunderclap because it's shortlisted so I figure I'm less likely to be able to renew it. And I realised it's shorter than it first appears. The pages are thicker than usual and there's lots of empty space and pictures of the paintings. It's a gorgeous book! 8mo
squirrelbrain Yes, I just got this on BorrowBox as I listened to it on audio. I‘m not re-reading it all but flicking through to look at the pictures and reading the relevant parts. 8mo
