Not the Ones Dead | Dana Stabenow
Pickpick

I have enjoyed this series. Kate Shugak is a good character. The plot in this novel brought Covid and the January 6th insurrection into play. I did miss the interactions with the aunties, as it was minimal. I do love reading about Alaska and will probably always will.

Soubhiville I don‘t think I‘ve read any fiction that mentions the insurrection. Interesting. 10mo

Bailedbailed

I bailed 28% in. #23 in the series. The story was about something different every chapter and lots and lots of description but little narrative.

TrishB I think I‘m at about number 11. I do find a lot of series start running out of ideas at about 15! 13mo

This is still a good series to read but this was definitely my least favourite so far. There were way too many characters, Kate didn't seem to feature much, and the mystery wasn't really there.

#21 in the Kate Shugak series. I just finished #20 but the ending was so "what the hell" that I had to continue into the next book to find out it was resolved.

1. Less Than a Treason by Dana Stabenow
2. Yes. Besides reading to the holidays I also sometimes read winter books in the summer to try to think/feel cooler. 😆
3. My lilac tree, my strawberry plants, my growing rhubarb

MoonWitch94 My lilac tree is just beginning to bloom! I love the scent when the wind blows into my house. Thanks for playing 🌷📚☺️ 3y
Blueberry @MoonWitch94 Do you live more northern? Mine bloomed a month ago and didn't last near long enough. 3y
MoonWitch94 I‘m in NJ, right by Philadelphia. Everything here bloomed early, then a cold front came & killed everything. So I‘m just glad we got some blooms at all! 3y

I‘m glad I read some Litsy reviews that this was a Christian romance. It set up expectations a little differently than it would have. It was wholesome, the mystery not overly complicated, but enough to hold my attention. I was more interested in a side character‘s romance than the protagonists‘ though.

I picked this from my tbr list stored on my kindle bc Goodreads reviews were better than the other I had in mind. Funny how Littens‘ review are different. Goodreads never mentioned it was faith based romance. 🤔 and the reviews were better. We‘ll see…
