Bailedbailed

Got to page 71 and bailed.
The characters were bizarre and not in a good way. It was unrealistic, confusing, and quite poorly written.
The accidental killing of her ex husbands best friend with a frying pan (told you - bizarre) was just glossed over. WTF?!

I've had a bad run with books recently! 🙄

Mehso-so

I was very excited to read this book because I love the premise. Unfortunately, it did not live up to my expectations.

My main critique is that the book is too long. The book is roughly 370 pages, but could have been whittled down to around 300. The book is very light on events that drive the plot forward.

I‘m grateful for the quiet that perfect September weather brings. After three straight months of nonstop air conditioning I‘d forgotten what that sounds like.

@Eggs is kicking off fall with 30 days of #gratitude if anyone wants to join in

Eggs So lovely💞💞 2y

What a lovely book. Valente‘s world building is, as always, second to none, and the characters are all a delight. I thoroughly enjoyed the journey through Glass Town, with its wild imagination, and its picture of life at the time.

FINALLY reading something new again, after a bout with Covid in July. The illness didn‘t last as long as the lack of will to do anything at all but what I absolutely had to…so draining. Fingers crossed…

This is been on my TBR pile for awhile, I didn‘t even realize how perfect it was until I really looked at it. Bring on more Brontë!

Bklover This sounds good! 2y
BarkingMadRead @Bklover I really loved it! It has so much Brontë history in it, plus the storyline, it was so much fun to read 2y

Patrick Branwell Bronte has always been the least well known, yet in his early life he showed equal promise, being the main inspiration or “Genius Brannii“ of their early literary exploits.

I'm not convinced the evidence is strong enough that Branwell could claim even part credit for Wuthering Heights, but I did find Du Maurier's hypothesis about the rumoured love affair with the wife of his employer, being a cover story made sense. 3.5 🌟
