1. The tagged books!
2. Ignorance? Denial? Who even knows anymore.
3. I am sick so reading probably.
4. Sunday is not sure what it is doing. Snow? Rain? Something.
1* the March Trilogy is in graphic novel form which is great as it‘s more accessible to visual readers/learners. But really anything MLK based: his letters and speeches
2* Betrayal of US 1st amendment and hence intolerance. I don‘t feel qualified to speculate about other countries ...
3* chores, errands (gag), reading, walking, sleeping (not sleepwalking🤣)
4* nnnoooo. That would be fun though!
(Day 19 - #SitDown)
*As a member of CORE, Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) helped organize the first sit-ins in Nashville, TN (protest pictured above left). After those #SitDown protests, he participated in many other Civil Rights movements. As Chairman of the SNCC, he participated in the Freedom Rides, and was the youngest keynote speaker at the 1963 March on Washington. He has been arrested 45 times and also beaten. (Pic. right).
Civil rights leader John Lewis is an inspiration & a true icon. March is his autobiography, told through a graphic novel trilogy. Still TBR, I will definitely be reading this by the end of the year.
These are by far not the only excellent reads of the year, but they are the tops! Not in any order other than when I read them. March Trilogy definitely number one read this year. Dear Committee Members got cut off here...geez. #17in2017
1. NH/VT border
2. March by John Lewis
3. None, I read by mood
4. The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Six More by Roald Dahl
5. Fight Club
6. The Seven Sisters by Neil Gaiman
I would love to meet John Lewis and just say thank you! Thank you for fighting for decades, continuing to fight in the current climate and for giving me hope and encouragement. Today was hard. Really hard. If you can discriminate and take the rights away from one community, you can damn well try to take them away from others. No one is equal until we are all equal and given the same damn rights!
The back cover of the slipcase set has a great #sideprofile. This powerful graphic novel is a must-read. John Lewis' story is incredible and I learned so much about the civil rights movement from it. I'm also going to use this for #blackorwhite (for the topic, didn't go to my shelves to look for black/white books). #jubilantjuly #90sinjuly #2forone

Hard such a hard time choosing & narrowing books down. But felt happy to see all the reading I have done in 6 months- slow reader that I am! Fun to revisit all the books. @RealLifeReading
(1/5) Independent Bookstore Day is @bookdrunkard78 & my holiday! This is my haul from The Novel Neighbor minus the slipcase set of the March graphic novels which they ordered for me. The lithograph is for my husband. I was most excited about the special hardcover edition of Kindred Spirits by Rainbow Rowell just for IBD . They had some of the Out Of Print tees on sale for 50% off! And, I love the enamel pins! This one says, "Oh God. Undo" Hahaha!
I read my first graphic novel in #March. And it was also my first read along. Found two short volumes (one audio) that I managed to squeeze in at the last minute -- trying to increase my monthly total. Fortunately, both turned out to be really great reads. I'll try to do stats tomorrow. Total books read: 8. But this looks nothing like my TBR post at the beginning if the month. 🙄

I love this quiet reflective moment as Lewis passes the pyramids and realizes the monumentality of his task. March takes the time not only for artistic moments like this, but also to relay an amazing amount of facts and research. I thought I knew a lot about the civil rights movement, but I certainly had a great deal to learn, even after having been Mississippi-born in the midst of this historic movement. The spirit of this book needs to live on.
This is the list I started with at the beginning of the month.
🔖The pencils are the ones I finished.
🔖The underlined I'm almost done with (Hoping to finish Ms. Bixby tonight 🤓)
🔖The Girl who Swallowed the Moon will have to wait until next month.
🔖Also read Loving vs. Virginia, The Girl With All the Gifts, Pax
☄☄☄Best of the month: The Girl With All the Gifts & The March ☄☄☄
Day 31 #marchintoreading #BestOfMarch Stats are still coming but March was a great reading month-especially in terms of really enjoying what I read so it is impossible to pick just one. Here's 6 (OK maybe 8 since I'm counting all 3 March graphic novels as a pick!)😆 2 audio books had me in tears & won my❤️A Man Called Ove & Between Shades of Grey. I got lucky w/ review books this month & all 3 of these resounded with me for different reasons.📚💜
#marchintoreading Day 31 @RealLifeReading
this month I had a couple of busy weeks, so I hadn't post regularly.. At least I had time to read!!😄
In march I've read 18 books (11 comics, 6 ebooks and 1 on SerialReader), for a total of 3931 pages📖📖📖
The #bestofMarch is definitely the March trilogy!
This FCBD (Free Comic Book Day) Special from comiXology features excerpts from Books One, Two, and Three. I'll probably leave the Book Three excerpts unread. Looking forward to starting it tomorrow. In Book One, John Lewis was excited about meeting Martin Luther King. In Book Two, he's a key member of CRM leadership which, of course, includes Dr. King. #MarchInMarch #MarchTrilogy #JohnLewis #CongressmanJohnLewis
Man. These books are both inspiring and depressing to read in our current climate. But they're necessary and very well done. Full of the best of humanity and the absolute fucking worst of us. Photo includes bonus Loki, because I can't do anything on the floor without a bonus Loki, apparently. He liked the books, too. And the slipcase is so lovely. #MarchinMarch
My introduction to graphic novels continues. If anyone's interested, #ComiXology has the March trilogy plus a bonus book for $21.99. I've already discovered it will display individual panels. What else does it do?

I loved this as being near the end of book one. This is an argument that I end up having most often about a variety of issues. It always feels to me that it is a posh off as though paying about the issue is enough. How about we do some of the work? #marchinmarch
Today is the 52nd Anniversary of Bloody Sunday during the march from Selma to Montgomery for voting rights.
If you haven't done so, please read these important books that cover the events that took place in Selma. Congressman John Lewis is a survivor of violence from that day, and the story he recounts in March is harrowing & heartfelt. ✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿 #tbrtuesday

We study his story pre Romeo & Juliet, along with the new information that the woman who set his murder in motion, Carolyn Bryant, who has recanted her testimony.
In addition to my #MarchTBR, I'm doing the #MarchInMarch readalong of Congressman John Lewis' "March" trilogy. I started "Swing Time" in February. And I'm planning to read "The Long Song" after "Slave Sister" which is not pictured. I'll edit it later. I learned about "Our Black Year" from a TED presentation by the author. The categories help keep me on track for my reading plan.

Double #marchinmarch!! My non-reader husband actually suggested we "listen to Lemonade and read March" instead of watching TV. I'm stunned. He's ahead of me, on Vol. 2! So excited to start this today; I know I'm a day early but have a big work thing tomorrow.
It's almost March 1st, which means it's almost time for the #MarchinMarch read-along! It's a pretty laid-back read-along, but if you're looking for something more structured, @kmdartist created an awesome syllabus with additional reading material 👏👍check out the hashtag to see her post with the document link. Who's reading with us? 😃📚
This is happening starting Wednesday!!! @Merethebookgal and I have heard from a lot of you who will be joining us in this read-along and I can't way to see your post! I'll be taking my time and reading throughout each week. The Kid is joining me. It will be our first graphic novel read! Really excited about this guys! Feell free to screenshot and share this, use the hashtag #Marchinmarch, and post.
