“Those who find beautiful meanings in beautiful things are the cultivated. For these there is hope.” ~ Oscar Wilde. This is one of my favorite books of all time, not only for the plot and the meaning, but also for the beautiful writing that is a joy to read. #oscarwilde #doriangray #tea

I adore this book‘s dark cynical take on society. It‘s sumptuous, it‘s shallow, and it‘s a horrific study of vanity. #bookishly #bookishlyclassics #oscarwilde #doriangray

erzascarletbookgasm I like this book. Welcome to Litsy. Hope you‘ll love it here. 6y

“I‘d wager that the upsurge in printed-book sales, such as it is, is due to greater exports and the continuation of, in the asset at least, a storage demographic reversal, since for the first time in history we have societies where the old significantly out numbering the young.” —Will Self in this month‘s issue of Harper‘s

This explains why most of my readers are 65 and older!

#BookNBreakfast! Finishing #DorianGray today before tonight‘s book club. Egg, cheddar, and chorizo sandwich with arugula and herb aioli, with a Stumptown coffee. Yum! Such a pleasant spot in which to read. Happy reads and happy eats!

Traci1 That looks yummy. 😍 6y

Enjoying a picnic lunch with @MrBook and #DorianGray at Grey Towers Mansion on this gorgeous autumn afternoon. ❤️🧡💛 #MilfordPA #Poconos #HistoricUSA

Heideschrampf As a european i cannot help but smirk at „historic usa“ 🙈i know it‘s supper snobby. It does look lovely! (edited) 6y
ReadZenRites @Heideschrampf Lol! Don‘t feel too bad. In the western states we‘re super impressed by anything over 100 years old, historic by our standards. 😁 6y
Bklover Looks like a beautiful day! Enjoy Dorian Gray (and Mr. Book!) (edited) 6y

Heideschrampf @ReadZenRites haha cute! I remember my village turning 1.000 years old when i was in elementar school. But i live right next to where they found the Neanderthal, so my standards might be raised 😛 6y

Apparently I don‘t read too many #retelling s of the classics, and those I have, have already been mentioned today. So I searched online for anything that I might want to check out someday! I present to you a retelling of Dorian Gray that has no mention on #Litsy! Wonder if it‘s any good 🤔🧐?

#Maylovesclassics

vivastory I haven't read it, but I almost posted this one. I think I'll read it after my reread of the original 7y
ValerieAndBooks @vivastory it does look like an interesting re-telling— set in 1980s and involves the AIDS crisis. 7y

Wow! I knew the story going in of course, but there is a reason this is a classic. Chilling. #bookclub #doriangray #classic #oscarwilde
