pickThis book looks at the old matriarchal societies, differing greatly from the ones we live in today. Once, women ruled. They had many rights and were not only respected but looked to for guidance on the deepest matters of life. They played every role in a community. Today, we have fallen far from the relationship we once had with nature, the living worlds around us. The book examines the demonization of women and its parallels to the⬇️
pickI enjoyed this intimate memoir of one woman finding friends, herself, and witchcraft in 1990s NYC. She learns about history, mythology, the old ways, how to tap into various forgotten but ever present energies. She also learns how the misogyny still playing itself out today has ancient origins.

So christians will get all up in arms because African nations have customs that a raped girl must be married by her rapist and they actively practice this... and are just astounded that even after being coerced into becoming Christian‘s, they still practice this… while claiming the bible is the literal word of god, that is 100% true, 100% right, and 100% just. Does this mean that by convincing them to stop this practice, they are false teachers?
I read this years ago. I believe the main characters are some type of witches and they have to fight evil with the power of positivity. Or something like that. Anyway it was the first thing I thought of when I thought of “moon”

I know this isn‘t exactly philosophy, but it is religion and spirituality which is a part of philosophy. I can just imagine the conversations we could have with this one. I‘m just touching base to see if this is something our group would like to read. No worries, I‘m thinking beginning of the year because the holidays are just careening toward us.
