Bk1 of #AwesomeAugust #readathon was done on Monday but I completely forgot to post! The 1st in the Anita Blake,Vampire Hunter series, I read it while #audioknitting. It‘s slowly getting there,I‘m not the worlds fastest knitter by a long shot. The book is always a great read, Anita is a zombie raiser in St Louis & vampire executioner on the side when she‘s forced to look into vampire murders by the city‘s head vampire. #BookspinBingo #Litsycrafters
Calling it a night on my #AwesomeAugust #readathon Day2. It‘s 1.30am Sunday morning here & I‘m going cross eyed trying to knit so I think it‘s bedtime for me. Decided to go with a Slytherin colour choice for bubbas blankie, thanks to a suggestion by a fellow #litsycrafter (can‘t remember who though🤷🏻♀️)& the fact his mummy is a slytherin. Yes I know the greens wrong but it‘s the thought that counts right? Night y‘all🥱 #audioknitting #zzzzzzz
Got in a few hours for the #AwesomeAugust #readathon by #audioknitting to the 1st Anita Blake novel. This series is a bit of a “guilty pleasure” for me(though I think the term should be abolished for books. You like what you like🤷🏻♀️)I don‘t read many romance books but this series starts off more as a crime book that happens to have hot vampires in it(and scary ass ones too). How‘s your readathon going? #audiocrafting #slytherincoloursnext
Started the Anita Blake series. When were these originally written?! She‘s talking about pagers and having her answering machine for only a short period of time 🤣
These were definitely what I was looking for. A bit like the female version of Harry Dresden but a bit sexier. Also all the creatures are known and not hidden.
This was definitely a quick read and I have about 20+ more I can read 🤪.
I found I was dumped into the story, no beginning. I am not fond of the main character. The characters were empty, no substance. This is the first book I have read of this author. I think she should go read Kim Harrison's books. #NSR221 Horror Supernatural genre. @Nessavamusic
April 2021 - audio reread - sometimes you just need a little comfort to take the edge of the crazy. Aging better than I am lol
This was almost a So-so for me. It lacked the character development that I crave so much. Lots of action and the plot was good. Yet, I never connected to the character. I wish the editor had used a heavier handing the editing process. There were a few scenes that could have been deleted because they didn't do much to further the plot. 3.5ish⭐ #screamathon2020 @4thhouseontheleft #Scarathon2020 @StayCurious #TeamHarkness Points = 26
A stack of #violet for my fellow #Cancer readers. I dipped into my theatre collection and found 3 extra titles for this #photochallenge In fact, I should make a violet stack of scripts tomorrow. #readyoursign
I have always been a fan of Anita Blake series since I was a teenager. Re-reading it now I can see a lot of flaws in terms of writing style: repetitive use of words, simple sentences and basic vocabulary. If you are willing to overlook that, the book still offers a lot of fun if you love vampires, zombies etc. On the plus side, the simple expressive ability of the writer makes for a quick enjoyable read.
You can't save everybody. Each person has to save himself first, then you can move in and help.
#Bk4 of my #24B4Monday #readathon & Bk1 of my #DeweysOct is done! The 1st in the Anita Blake series is still one of the best, before it went downhill. Anita is an animator, a zombie raiser, as well as a vampire executioner. When the Master of the City calls her for a job, she finds out its impossible to say no & still keep breathing. It‘s also my #ScaryScavengerHunt #WithZombiesInIt #Scarathlon #TeamSlaughter 11points + 20 #PointsTotal-1,452
#DeweyOct #readathon #ReadathonHourlyPhoto #hour1 #OpeningBooks #My stack of opening books for this ‘thon, though I‘m starting off with the rest of the tagged audiobook. After that, it‘s a toss up between the pictured books. Probably either The Monster Of Elendhaven or Halloween Party by Dame Agatha. What‘s your opening books? #24B4Monday #TeamSlaughter 1point #PointsTotal-1,421
I‘ll be running two timers for the rest of my #readathons. The top one is for the #24B4Monday (which I‘ve already hit the time for Woohoo!) the bottom for #DeweysOct or #Deweys24Hr Coz that‘s not going to get confusing🤪 Who else is doing one or the other ‘thon? #Scarathlon #TeamSlaughter 1point + 15points #PointsTotal-1,420
Sticking with my Anita Blake audiobook until the #Deweys24HrReadathon starts in a few hours. If I‘ve worked the time zones out right it should be 11pm here🤞Doing some #audiopuzzling while I rack up some hours for the #24B4Monday #readathon Pretty sure I‘ll get my 24hrs in! #Scarathlon #TeamSlaughter 1point + 15points #PointsTotal-1,404
I‘m switching to an audiobook for a few hours, my eyes are feeling gritty & I‘m starting to get an eye strain headache. I have 3 120gb iPod classics that still work, 2 full of music & this one that‘s stuffed with over 100 audiobooks. I‘m going with Bk1 of the Anita Blake series not just because it‘s a great audiobook, but also coz it‘ll cover the zombies prompt of the #SSH #24B4Monday #readathon #Scarathlon #TeamSlaughter 1point #PointsTotal-1,388
My partner and I finished this last night and jumped right into book 2 in the series. We both thoroughly enjoyed this one. Lycanthropes, vampires, zombies, could you ask for anything better?
Found a series my partner will read with me 😁
Anita is one cool lady. These novels are smart and funny and take vampires 🧛♂️ and zombies 🧟♂️ to a whole new level. If you are looking for an out of the box vampire novel pick this one up.
It was so nice to be reminded of the badass Anita Blake I fell in love with so many books ago. I read this for comfort, but rediscovered how great this series used to be. Just a brave woman with a bunch of guns and an attitude against vampires, shapeshifters, zombies and ghouls. Definitely left me wanting to reread the rest of the series...at least until the relationship stuff overwhelms the badassery. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I‘m having a tough time mentally, between family stuff, the world at large and my typical summer sadness, my depression has decided to come out to play. Trying to combat the mean blues with an old favorite. Nothing new today, just comfort reads for me.
I haven't done one of these in forever!
1. Cookies. Alllll the cookies!
2. Les Miserables or PnP (2005)
3. I secretly LOVE bad paranormal romances. Like, the cheesier the better!
4. Bath bombs. It doesn't seem like an indulgence but those things can get damn expensive 🤑
5. Here's hoping!

Hello @Kit_Kat & @SenatorMothma 👋
#HelloThursday Guilty Pleasures edition
This book is the one that helped me love books as an adult. And I still read this series again and again. 26 books later and I don't plan on stopping the rereading 😂 She is my favorite author.
I was introduced to this series when I was in middle school (probably too early for romance novels but I don‘t care). Anita Blake is bomb she‘s a badass who raises the dead, helps solve paranormal crimes, and deals with vampires like it‘s no big deal. As the series progresses I like it less and less but the first like 10 books are so engaging and pack full of mystery and paranormal beings and situations. After the sixth book sex is the big focus.
I love that I found this series so many years ago in high school, it just kept getting better as the series progressed. I own basically all of the books in multiple formats. I can't say how many times I have read this book over again just to see the difference between the beginning and current characters. The series does getting smutty but I read erotica so it doesn't change my feelings on the series. Fantastic start with great characters.
Completed a really good read quick and enjoyable with good characters and a good character list I will read more if this is a series 😋📖
Next up on the tbr list 😋📖
Thank you @Mommamanzi for this awesome book I can‘t wait to read it. It was a great summer surprise in my mail. Thank you so much I really appreciate the trouble you went to to send it to me 🙏😋📖
My current audiobook. I read this 10 years ago and i'm very happy to say it stands the test of time! I'm actually enjoying it more than i did the first time!

⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was fun, action-packed, and better written than I thought it would be. Unfortunately nonsensical plot points, the lack of in-depth world building, and the sarcastically obnoxious main character got in the way of my full enjoyment of the book. Also the ratmen rapists and the fact that Anita had to kiss people to pretend to be their lovers multiple times. It‘s very indulgent but overall it kept me entertained until I finished.
Amidst the messy process of unpacking I have become pretty sick and now I‘m trying to read something that doesn‘t require too much critical thinking.

Tell me about your favourite #ComfortReads
I'm half way through my current crochet blanket, and it got me thinking. I love returning to books that feel like home, comforting reads that make me feel better. What are yours?
Some parts of this are very much dated, but overall it was mildly entertaining. No sex, but I've heard after book 10 it turns into straight smut. We'll see if I even make it so far. Anita's ability to attract SO many dudes that are into her is already kinda annoying (plus the 'omg, ew I'd rather die' dig she had about a woman coming onto her was icky). So. IDK. Also, guessed the murderer about 20% in?
“But I spend most of my waking hours confronting and destroying things I fear. A thousand-year-old master vampire was a tall order, but a girl‘s got to have a goal.” 🗡🗡🗡🗡
In defense of “trashy fiction”: sometimes you just need a break from heavy fiction, hard fiction, classic fiction, etc. No one should feel like they should have to hide what they read. As a matter of fact I‘m quite enjoying it.
